Alvin was my service provider and he was fantastic. So professional and was able to fix my issue quickly and efficiently. One of the most helpful interactions I have had in long time. He got my system up and running after several days with no AC and did it all with a postive attitude. He answered my questions without complaints and provided me step by step guidance on the problem. So grateful for his help and the above and beyond approach to customer service.

I was charged $720 to replace a run capacitor that I could buy for $13.24 online. It took John less than 30 minutes to diagnose the problem and have the system running. He was onsite less than an hour, even after checking to ensure the unit was cooling properly. The service was great, but $700 per hour for labor seems high. I let management know, and they refused to adjust the price.

Added: To be clear, I did not ask for a $700 refund on a $720 bill. The vendor's response is misleading. I did ask if they believed $700 per hour for labor is appropriate ($1400 if you consider the time required to perform the diagnosis and repair), and they said they don't charge by the hour and were unwilling to reduce their "standard price." There is a certain amount of trust awarded to a vendor when there is a $109 non-refundable diagnostic charge involved. When the problem was diagnosed, I was told the electronic pulse distributor (EPD) wasn't working. This is also misleading because the official term is "run capacitor." I assume they know most customers wouldn't pay $720 to replace a simple plug-in capacitor. They are taking advantage of their customers' trust. I will not use them again.

We are a longtime customer of Central Heating & Air Conditioning. Yesterday, we had our annual cooling inspection. Alvin Johnson was our technician. There was a great amount of chaos going on yesterday at our home. We had work being done to our gas meter, the Dekalb Watershed team was here doing a repair which included a large crew, digging up our driveway & yard, it was pouring down rain, etc...Alvin was such a ray of positivity & sunshine on a very stressful & gloomy day!

He was extremely calm & clear as he spoke to my husband & me about the condition of our system. This morning, I left a VM at Central b/c I wanted to sing Alvin's praises. I received a call within 15 minutes of leaving the message from Chris Andrews. I can tell that Chris delights himself in this business & leads with integrity & doing the best work for his clients. Alvin not only represents Central, but he represents Chris Andrews too. Leadership runs from the top down. I told him that if I was Oprah rich, I would have showered Alvin with hundreds of thousands of dollars yesterday simply on his positive attitude alone. I feel the same for Chris Andrews too! We will continue to use Central for all our heating & air conditioning needs.
I highly recommend them. They have done excellent work for us & I trust them.

Always kind, explains things in detail and the pets love him. Very knowledgeable and remembers our equipment.

Our AC units needed replacing and the team at Central Heating and Air made the whole process smooth. Danielle, Devin, Dakota and the entire crew were kind, helpful and worked incredibly hard in the middle of a heat wave to get the new units installed. They even loaned us a portable unit so we could stay cool while they finished the work. They went out of their way to make it affordable and easy. My house is SO COMFORTABLE now. I was impressed from start to finish and highly recommend them.

Alvin was great! I had no heat and Central Heating and Air scheduled my service right away. Alvin was prompt and went above and beyond to discover the problem. I had heat shortly hereafter. 5 stars for Alvin!

I had an excellent experience with Central Heating & Air Conditioning this week with Alvin — he was knowledgeable, personable and friendly, transprent, thorough, and clearly explained each step he was taking, checking back with me on costs before proceeding. He was exactly on time and was in and out in under an hour. It was my first time using this company and I was very pleased with the results!

Alvin was our technician and he went above and beyond to solve our heating problem. He was respectful and explained things clearly. I would be happy to have him be our tech again!

They sent Alvin to tune up our AC systems, he was very thorough and professional. He explained everything that he was doing and how he was fixing it. We are really happy with the service!

Terrible service. Don’t recommend. Used them for years. And when I needed them during an emergency they overcharged me for services and still didn’t fix the furnace. Said they would write off the balance if I bought from them but I didn’t because I found the exact same furnace for $2,000 less. So now they are charging me $450 for coming to my house to misdiagnose 3 times. Thank you central. I will never recommend your services again. You can not say I’m not your customer to get out of a bad review. I reported it to the BBB also.

Alvin did a great job giving our HVAC systems a winter check up. He was professional and knowledgeable.

This is the kind of service you need when your AC breaks and you are dealing with the heat and humidity in Atlanta! I got Kathleen on the phone who was super nice and helpful. She helped me schedule an appointment for the next day. The technician identified the problem and completed the repairs within an hour. Couldn’t have asked for more!

I had a lovely experience with Central Heating and Air today with Mr. Alvin. He was so incredibly knowledgeable and explained the issue in a way that was easy to understand. I felt so comfortable and confident with him and his level of service, I signed up for an annual service agreement. He was also just super cool — great vibes, good human type stuff. Thank you, Alvin! I cannot say enough great things about my experience with Central Heating and Air Conditioning. From the very first visit, Ken was outstanding—knowledgeable, kind, and endlessly patient. I asked what felt like a million questions (some more than once!), and he answered every single one thoroughly and respectfully, never rushing me or making me feel silly. He provided four clear options at different price points, and his experience and honesty gave me complete confidence in my decision. I truly felt I could trust him, and that made all the difference.

When installation day came, Jose and Brandon were absolutely top-notch. They were incredibly courteous, professional, and neat—treating my home with the same care and respect I would myself. They walked me through every step of the process, made sure I understood what they were doing, and took the time to answer all my questions along the way. I could tell they genuinely cared about doing the job right, not just quickly.

My home feels amazing now—comfortable, quiet, and perfectly cooled—and I know it’s because of the quality of work these professionals put in. More than anything, I appreciated that they treated my home as if it were their own. That kind of care is rare and exactly what you hope for when hiring a company to work on your house.

We are annual maintenance members, which means we pay for the privilege of Central Heating and Air ignoring us on weekends and holidays, too. We were without AC for the last two weeks of June, and this past Monday, a technician finally replaced the broken part in our unit. Today, Friday, we woke up and our air conditioning out again - the fan inside our unit, which was just replaced Monday, has fallen out of place and is lying on the ground. The repair was not completed, and Central Heating And Air won’t send anyone out to fix their mistake until Monday unless we pay a $150 charge. This company is absolutely useless.

EDIT: A supervisor contacted us after reading this review and came out to rectify the situation. He said there was a misunderstanding and we were not charged for the after hours visit. We dealt with a series of bad parts and shipping delays that kept the repair from being finalized for a week, but Central Heating and Air didn’t charge us for the repeat visits or bad parts.

Alvin is fantastic at his job! He explained the steps he would take to fix our furnace, tested the system and ensured we were up and running before next week’s cold snap. I am eternally grateful! Also, Alvin brought great energy and is a consummate professional. Thanks, Alvin!!

My unit was serviced by "Alvin" today. He was personable, relatable and professional. After job was completed, he clearly explained what tasks, test he performed. He also gave "no pressure" recommendations. I've been with Central Heating and Air for several years and they've been awesome!

Alvin came to troubleshoot thermostat issues, which he resolved and gave me an excellent tutorial on how to get he most from my thermostat. He was a very clear communicator and was patient with all my rookie questions. What super support! I appreciate Alvin and Central!
