I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves one. I went with this solar company after they promised top-quality service and a “turnkey” installation. What I got was a $60,000 headache. The panels work, but the system isn’t set up to feed power back to the grid because they never finished the final approval with Hawaiian Electric. I’ve been calling and emailing for months and still can’t get anyone to follow up. Every time I reach someone, they just say, “We’ll get back to you,” and then nothing happens. I later found out that several other companies quoted similar systems for half the price. Between the inflated cost and lack of support, I feel completely ripped off. Learn from my mistake shop around first.

Thank you Malama Solar. After checking out a few companies, we felt the most confident with Malama. The 30 year warranty is what really stood out to us. The installation is very simple and clean. They cleaned up after themselves and explained how everything works.

Our family got solar last year, something I’ve always wanted ever since I had heard of the idea! I dealt with Olya who was great at addressing all of my concerns. She set our family up with a system that covered all of our energy needs including our new electric car! It takes some responsible management of our system, regarding when we charge, but driving around on the power of the sun is amazing! We are regularly saving money and it feels good to be living more responsibly. Our situation is kind of particular in that we live in a townhouse and we have to run an extension cord out to our car to charge. We made it work, however, and our association works with us regarding the power cord out to our car. Malama has been very attentive regarding the few concerns we have had along the way even from the owner of the company! In all these guys really seem to care and the care didn’t end once it was installed. They live up to their name in all ways and I would recommend anyone to this company!

I closed on my house in early November 2025 and wanted to get solar installed before the 2026 New Year. Contacted multiple companies and was told it would be impossible to do or was just blown off. Malama completed the project by mid-December which was under 30 days from 1st contact to the installation being complete. Super professional, quality installers, Karson was available to answer all of my questions and Pat went above and beyond to make sure this was completed on time. If you're looking to install Solar Malama is the company you should go with.

I worked with Gail and Chelli at Oceanhead Solar to install my 24 panel array at my house. I forget how many kilowatts it is. It was a very pleasant experience and if I ever had any questions or concerns they were addressed promptly. All-in-all it went very smoothly. Best of all I can run my AC without cost worries now!
