Mahalo nui to OceanHead Solar for providing efficient, smooth, attentive, and timely solar panel installation for me and my family. There were some hiccups, but nothing out of the ordinary for a home improvement project, however the extraordinary part was the immediate response of the OceanHead team. Pricing was reasonable, and they even helped us get a great deal and rate for a loan. Check them out if you are looking for solar panels.

3 years later - service continues to be excellent! They monitor the system from their office and if any problems arise, they are right there to help out. Outstanding!

It’s been great working with John Yeh and the rest of the crew at OceanHead Solar. John took the time to explain the process to us and he was on point with everything and made us feel very comfortable . They install crew was very professional and helped detect and fixed some electrical issues we had. The PV solar installation went smoothly and they did a great job with communication with us. OceanHead installed my PV system in my townehome. They are very professional and persistent, especially when dealing with my difficult HOA. None the less they were able to get the project approved. Within days of approval they were ready to install. It went alot faster then I expected. Installers were friendly and efficient. Quality of their work is what impressed me the most. System looks clean on my garage wall and on my roof. I can't wait to work with them again in the future.

I can't say enough about the team at OceanHead Solar! From the free estimate, to permitting, installation, warranty and repairs, we have had excellent service. Our home did not have any solar capability and we were looking at 26 panels and 2 batteries. With such a large investment, I reached out to 7 highly rated companies on Oahu. OceanHead wasn't the lowest cost provider, but they prepared a fair and competitive package, a professional estimate experience, with on-island installation and repair teams. It has now been over 1 year since installation, and we are happy customers. Everything went seamlessly with installation, the team was communicative and friendly, and they cleaned up after themselves. We did have one warranty need (that was due to mother nature) and OceanHead did a quick and easy job of replacing our unit. Highly recommend working with them, save yourself a lot of time and just call them!

They got everything done and done right. The installation crew was able to fix some oversight that the engineers made and my system works great. They not the cheapest but you pay for what you get. Their customer service is a big reason o went with them

The most important trait of any company that we all take for granted is trust. We trust they will do a good job, operate ethically, and charge a fair price. In my case they operated with the highest ethics and I'd recommend them any time. My job ended up being more complicated than anyone thought and they (correctly) decided I should contract with the original electrician, cheerfully refunding my $1k deposit. You want to talk ethics? How about a company that ends up losing money, losing business, and is happy to write a check back to me all in the name doing the right thing. Highly recommended! If I could give 10 stars, I would.

Our situation was complicated due to issues with HECO and City and County permitting. Independent Energy stayed involved through the process and worked to install our solar system in a timely manner once all other issues were resolved. Their staff is very responsive and professional.

The absolute best company. From the start to finish. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and knowledgeable. They listened to exactly what we needed and informed us of the best option for the batteries which are needed due to someone in the house requiring oxygen. They worked with HECO and obtained all the permits. The installation was just completed yesterday. Joe and the team were awesome. The young guys were there early and made sure to come and introduce themselves and fill us in while they waited for Joe and the supplies to show up. After everything was done, they cleaned the entire area. They even painted the board that the batteries were attached to. I HIGHLY recommend Independent Energy!

James and his team did an amazing job on my install! My building is very space limited, which presented real challenges for their installers. They were able to adapt the plan to these issues and were able to finish the job in a very clean looking way. I'm VERY happy the way the finished product looks, especially the way Blake was able to route the wiring in the most hidden way possible. Their team is very friendly and professional, and they went above and beyond in their effort to make sure I was happy with the way the installation was laid out. The system has been working great! I'm very happy that I went with Independent Energy!

I obtained several quotes from solar installation companies and Independent Energy was most the most professional from the start. The entire process was clearly explained and all the people I interacted with were courteous throughout the process. I can highly recommend this company !

Independent Energy Hawaii made it quick and easy to get solar done in a couple months :) ..

Their initial proposal for 16 panels and a Powerwall was easy to understand and competitive with another vendors proposal. After signing that, met another IE Hawaii team member who took digital pics and drone pics of the house for their design.

After reviewing and agreeing to the design and battery placement, IE Hawaii submitted applications to our HOA and to HECO. They also suggested using my credit union's initial 18 month no interest loan so we could defer paying out of pocket until next year.

After approvals were done, an initial 50% payment (from the loan) was sent to IE Hawaii. Installation was scheduled pretty quick after that. It took their 5 person crew a little under a day to install the panels on the roof and get the Powerwall secured to the outside of the house. Their staff also connects the Powerwall to your wifi and sends you an email to connect it to your Tesla app. HECO inspected the outside electrical work the next day w/IE Hawaii staff. IE Hawaii's service dept/section provided multiple ways to get assistance from them first, but also provided vendor contact info.

Although I've been only using the Tesla app a few days, monitoring it is addictive in a weird way. YMMV but the panels power our daytime usage and provide most of our night time usage. The Powerwall charges from 20% to 100% by 11am and should be able to keep the refrig running during a typical pwr outage in our area. The system and app already affecting how we use power in the house.

Sending a final check (from loan) to IE Hawaii soon. Our 2025 state/federal tax credit should cover about 55% of the system and the rest will be paid before the interest starts on the loan.

We’re immensely grateful to IE Hawaii team for follow-up care in checking, cleaning, replacing mounting brackets, and testing solar panels. I highly recommend their products and services.

From our first visit to talk about needs and pricing to the final sign off from HECO. We have nothing but great things to say about Independent Energy Hawaii. They explained everything clearly and returned calls immediately when we had questions. They saved us a lot of money when we compared them with other companies. If you are planning to get photovoltaic for your home you would be foolish not to get a quote from them.

You have an excellent installation crew..competent and professional.
The unavoidable glitches were handled well.
I am impressed by the appearance and quality of my new system.
Would give 6 stars.

Update - 02/29/24

My decision to go with Independent Energy was validated this past week. Long story short, as a self proclaimed tech geek I constantly monitor my system. In the first month I saw an issue where my consumption would go up if my batteries were not fully charged. I emailed Sean inquiring to see if this was normal. Sure enough it was relayed to Enphase. Independent and Enphase worked together to get the issue resolved in less than a week. Service has been exceptional with Independent Energy.

We started our PV journey in late September 2023. I went and looked up all the top companies in Hawaii based on Yelp and BBB reviews. The following month, we interviewed 5 different companies. It was close, but Independent Energy came out on top. As a long-term investment, we wanted a company that would be there after the installation and we felt confident Independent Energy would be there for the long run.

Our initial consultation began with Taryn who provided great advice for our system. We were then introduced to Sean who managed the project. The original window for installation was April 2024, but to our surprise, they were able to pull all permits in a few weeks. We had our PV system installed and running before the New Year.

Lead electrician, Mike, did a great job of verifying installation details and communicating the entire process. They ensured that installation was up to our HOA requirements. As you can see from the photos, they even painted the conduit runs for the entire system. My wife and I are very satisfied with the installation and would highly recommend Independent Energy to anyone looking for a PV system for their home.

If you get solar, you need Independent! Michael, my project manager was always very responsive and kept me updated through the whole process. It was a pleasure working with all of the team and the field crew made sure to take extra care with all my on site requests. Thank you so much team Independent!!!

We have had a system from Independent Energy for over three years now. Our system works great and anytime there is a question or issue, they are quick to respond and always very friendly and kind. We are pleased with their customer service and the system itself.

Great service. Kept appts. Responded to questions and concerns quickly. Only concern is that all communications are by text msg. Only, no voice contact. But response time was always quick.
