Eddie came out and cleaned and inspected our fireplace. He took pictures and explained in detail what was going on and gave us an honest assessment of our chimney's. He recommended some additional repairs that are needed to prevent any further damage. He followed up the next day with the inspection report and quote for the future repairs as promised. He was very professional and I was extremely impressed with the quality of his work and reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend Chimney & Fireplace Works and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Eddie was super! I made a request to have him come and look at my gas fireplace as it was not working. He was willing to fit me in between appointments and was in and out very quickly. As my fireplace insert was rusty, he offered to paint it to make it look better as well as having started my pilot light. His pricing was extremely better than I had expected after getting a couple quotes. He is definintely worth the call!!!!

Very responsive, came to give an estimate on the same (very cold) Sunday that I first contacted. The chimney work was scheduled quickly, done well, and the crew did a thorough cleanup after. The new chimney looks great!

Eddie was early for our appointment. I had the wrong setting for the fireplace. He showed me what to turn into. Did not charge me for the service and was very helpful.

Our insurance company was going to cancel our home owners policy because our chimney needed repair. Eddie and his team replaced our chimney quickly and did great work. Eddie communicated with me regularly during the entire process, unlike many of the other companies who never returned my calls or emails.

Told I need a chimney liner and they would send a quote. 6 weeks later and 3 contacts i never got a response! If you don't want the business just say so. Would not hire them now.

These people were terrible. I had a fireplace vent that had bird's nest in it. I was told by CFW that I would need a replacement vent with a screen over it. I was promised a quote with a couple of days of the initial appointment. Never came and after 4 phones calls if which I was promised a response none never came. Do not use this company. They do not deserve to be in business.

This review has been a long time coming. Long story short, we hired Chimney & Fireplace Works (C&FW) and they left our chimney in an unacceptable condition, putting my family at risk for a carbon monoxide leak in our home. We weren't aware of the hazard until our water heater recently broke (which is vented through our chimney) and our plumber alerted us to the issues. We notified C&FW and the owner refused to take accountability or rectify the issue. Now the full story:

When buying our home, our inspector told us the chimney needed a few repairs. On 4/8/21, C&FW came out to inspect it and provide a quote. On 5/18/21, shortly after closing, we reached out to them to schedule the repairs. Eddie (owner) said that he would add us to his wait for July after he received a 25% deposit. We put down a check that night for $1185.

Having heard no word, we waited until 7/6/21 to reach out again asking for a start date. Eddie emailed, "Not quite a firm date yet" This was disappointing. When 8/2/21 came around with no word, we reached out again asking firmly for a start date. Eddie replied stating they were waiting to hear back from their brick supplier. None of this had been communicated to us before we reached out.

Soon after, we were startled to hear people on our roof, which turned out to be Eddie’s team. We received no heads up that they were starting and no communication throughout the project. They also left supplies on our porch and trash (soda bottles, etc.) strewn in our yard.

We were completely in the dark about how far along the project was. After days of silence, we asked Eddie what was going on. He said: "all that still needs to be done is the liner for the water heater needs to be connected...My guys told your husband this the last time they were there and the next day he wasn't around. We will just need access for a short time tomorrow to complete the liner hook up at which time my guys will pick up the final payment"

I responded: "Hi Eddie. As an FYI, I talked to [husband] and he said your guys never communicated with him... [Husband] works from home and was definitely available to speak with them if they had tried. So either they're thinking of the wrong person or they are not being truthful..."

Eddie then backtracked and said: "I will have a talk with my guys generally it goes smoothly however I can say they did not communicate well with me on this job as I thought it was fully done...We will make sure to get this all squared away and 100% finished tomorrow"
The next day, he came and finally the work was done...or so we thought.

Fast forward 2 years... On 10/8/2023, our water heater broke and we contacted a plumber to schedule a repair. The plumber discovered that a pipe that was installed by C&FW to vent the water heater was missing a cap that protects against CO venting back into the house. We were obviously horrified that we had been living with this for over 2 years. Additionally, the plumber found that the cover meant to seal the vent into the chimney was unsealed, hanging loose. Again, in disbelief that we paid over $3.5k and it was left in that state. To make matters worse, the plumber said he could not replace the water heater until the issues were fixed because of liability, which is fair.

We spoke to Eddie on 10/10/23. After explaining the issues, Eddie said there was nothing wrong with leaving that cap off and that our plumber had no idea about what he was talking about. He asked for our plumber's name and company as if he was going to call and bully him... It was very uncomfortable. We continued to ask nicely if he would send someone out, stressing that we were without hot water until this issue was resolved. He eventually said that he would send someone that night or the next morning. Days passed, no one came.

We reached out for a 2nd opinion who confirmed that the missing cap was a hazard. With that knowledge, We called Eddie back a few days later and were ignored.

We finally got everything sorted on 10/24/23 with the help of a different company.

Super pleased with the service. We had a non functioning very old gas fireplace in a newly purchased condo. We were told by multiple fireplace services that it was too old and they wouldn’t even come look at it. We were able to schedule a service call with Eddie. The appointment took just over an hour. It was a simple fix that he showed me how to troubleshoot on my own if we kept having problems. He also identified some previous ad-hoc fixes that were costing us money. I appreciated his honest advice about how long the ancient unit will likely last and what the cost of replacing it could be when the time comes. I will not hesitate to book again should the need arise.

The service was great! They gave me a reasonable quote to clean and repair my fireplace. He was in and out in less than 30 minutes. A very pleasant experience. Thanks!

In comparison to our last provider he was so much more efficient, timely, experienced and helpful. He corrected past mistakes and we will use Chimney & Fireplace Works from now on.

I had searched around for months trying to find a way to get our fireplace usable. When we bought the house 2 years ago, the previous owners said they had disconnected the gas line to the fireplace because they never used it. I spent well over 6 months talking to multiple different companies on ways to get it to working in the most cost effective manner. The CHEAPEST option i was given was $3,800. The most expensive being upwards of $10,000. No way was that in the budget.

One day I’m writing to another company to request a quote when I see a van drive by with the decal of “Chimney and Fireplace Works”. As fate would have it, I called and Eddie and he came over within a couple days and hooked the gas line up and got it working. His customer service was top notch and he didn’t charge me a penny to do that. Because of his helpfulness, I was willing to give him business when he suggested a new chase cap for the chimney. I’m so impressed with this company and will be using him for all future fireplace needs!

I had them come out to inspect and fix our fireplace because it smelled like gas when it was on. He said the issue was a bad pilot light and that someone had previously replaced it with a generic one. He told me we just needed to order the correct pilot light for the model and install it. I paid $179, which was supposed to go toward the final repair once completed.

After that, they completely ghosted me. I called four or five times and left messages with different people who kept promising someone would call or email me back. I should have known there would be issues when the technician couldn’t use his gas-checking device because it was “too cold,” and instead asked to use my soapy water.

I will be filing a Better Business Bureau complaint against this company because they’re out here scamming people.

Eddie, Casey, and Zach were super helpful and professional with inspecting our chimneys and the follow-up work required - they certainly went above and beyond.

Eddie found a crack in the flue tiles of one of our chimneys and suggested that we have the flue tiles broke out and have a stainless steel insert put in. At the same time, I also wanted a top-sealing damper installed to keep the bugs and cold air from entering the house - also, was hoping that the top-sealing damper would help with not smelling the fireplace during humid days in the summer.

The relatively simple job turned into more of a complex one, and Eddie, Casey, and Zach were great in working with me to help resolve all of the fireplace issues. They did a great job of respecting the house and ensuring that they left as little mess as possible.

The pricing was reasonable and didn't have to wait that long to be put on the schedule. I would recommend this company to anyone!

Their quoted price was much less than the quote I got from another company, while also being explicit about how thorough they intended to be (very). They were easy to talk to and had good customer service. My hilariously not-to-code chimney is now up-to-code and the fireplace works like a charm.

This was a great experience from the initial phone call the office staff was great and scheduling was simple. Eddy came out to clean the fireplace. He was amazing the inspection was very well explained along with repairs that needed to be done. Will use this company for all of my fireplaces and chimney needs

I had bought my first home with a wood burning fireplace/chimney. I am new to fireplaces, so I went with this business to inspect and update anything needed to make my fireplace in good working order for the winter. When they came out, they got my wife (I work all day, so my wife had to deal with these people).

Upon doing their inspection, they told my wife the following which was texted to me by her (see photo 1). We went ahead and hired this company to do the work and make those replacements (see photo 2 on how it looked before the work was done.

What they said was going to be a week took almost three weeks and several phone calls with an update on what’s going on.

They came and did the work and we paid them. I’m going to assume they weren’t going to think we were going to look at their work (please see photos 3 and 4 which is what we paid roughly 1800 dollars for). Needless to say I wasn’t happy, and neither was my wife.

She reached out to them and communicated what I thought was going on with their workmanship (please see photo number 5 for their reply). For them to actually argue that the collar they put on wasn’t almost completely if not totally mangled and bent is absurd. Their reply was beyond mind boggling.

We decided to have them come out and replace the mangled and bent collar (see photo 6 for the replaced collar). Also see photo 7 of the mess on my lawn they didn’t clean up.

The fact that they replaced the shoddy workmanship did help and ultimately prevent a complaint with the BBB and/or a potential lawsuit, but that is the last business I will do with these clowns. I will be giving my money and repeat business to a different chimney/fireplace company.

Please take this review into consideration if you choose to go with this business.
