Home Services reviews in Meridian, Idaho

This is my first time using this service. The technician was very good and professional. He knew exactly what to do and informed me of everything he was doing. I'm going to keep their contact information and have them so some work for me in the spring. I appreciated the professionalism.

I love the service I receive from The Maintenance Shop! I use them every year for sprinkler blowout and I have never had an issue. Always friendly and helpful. Love the blog for updates on schedule.

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE GETTING A BLOWOUT
Communication on their end is non existent and it’s your fault. I’ve also had better customer service experiences at the DMV.
However, the terms and conditions do spell out that it is indeed your fault if a company that’s been around for over 20 years hasn’t figured out a better solution for things like confirming receipt of an appointment request or cancellation of said appointment request.
In short, unlike most companies, if they do not send you a confirmation email you are still on the books but it’s somehow your responsibility to confirm with them that they have confirmed receipt of your request and penciled you in on a non existent schedule for sprinkler blowout. If you don’t get confirmation you are still confirmed essentially.
They also seem to make it a point to say that they are too busy to take phone calls or confirm requests yet they still accept business regardless.
If they show up at your house on a Monday morning after texting you on a Sunday night at 9:20 from a number you probably do not have saved in your phone (after a month of literally no contact whatsoever) and you no longer need the service you will still be charged a fee.
Again, this IS all spelled out I the terms and conditions that you have to follow a hyperlink to get to, so shame on me, but I did want to let anyone else know so that they do not have to deal with the type of customer service that I had to deal with when trying to resolve this issue.
I’m sure people do have good experiences with this company and hope they continue to. I will personally be taking my business elsewhere. I just wanted to give a heads up to any potential customers. -
The Maintenance shop has managed my sprinkler blowouts for many years now and they do an excellent job. They are always busy, but communicate well with their customers. You know when they will show up to service the sprinklers. A big Thank you to this business. Honest and reliable.

I've never had a problem with The Maintenance Shop. They’ve helped me with a few of my rental properties and have always been reliable, professional, and easy to work with.

Same company as Sprinkler Blowouts. No issues with signing up for the sprinkler blowout. Just FYI, you will not immediately receive date when it will be done but you’ll be provided a link to site to check when they’ll be performing the blowout, they go by city and street name. You’ll also receive a text message the day before the blowout with instructions. Their communication is exceptional so I highly recommend their company!

Another 1 star review for this company. I requested a sprinkler blow out, never received confirmation of anything. Tried to continuously reach out for a confirmation and never received a response from them. I ended up finding a cancellation link that I submitted with my name and address and hired another company to perform the service. Apparently on the cancellation form the autofill on my computer put the wrong zip code, but it still had the street address and correct city. I followed up via text and email with The Maintenance Shop to let them know I cancelled my request. Still no response back. They showed up at my business 2 weeks after cancellation, performed the blow out and sent me an invoice. When I contacted the company about 10 times in a row asking them to void the invoice because I cancelled my request, they proceeded to tell me they are too busy to check requests, don’t have time to verify addresses, don’t have time to communicate with their customers and that it’s my fault I typed in the wrong zip code on my cancellation request. The way this person was even responding to me was extremely rude! I have it all over text. I’m surprised he’s even still in business. Stay away from this company, it sounds like he doesn’t know how to run a good communication business and makes the customers feel like they are in the wrong. Ever heard of “The Customer is Always Right?”
Not this guy! -
I went through their website about a sprinkler blowout. A few days went by without hearing anything from them, no problem. About a week went by with zero contact so I hired someone else to do my sprinklers, who actually responded and did the work. Fifteen days after contacting TMS a guy shows up at my door to do my sprinkler blowout. No word that he was coming, no appointment set up, just a drop in out of the blue. I tell him I never heard from the company and had someone else do it. Later that day they emailed me with a $30 charge because I didn't cancel the work they never contacted me about doing. No comms, drop by unexpectedly weeks later, then want money? Horrible way to conduct business. Having read the good reviews I expected this to go completely differently than it did.

We’ve used Steve and his team for multiple repairs and sprinkler blowouts since he’s been doing business in the valley. Hands down the best handyman crew. Professional, punctual, dependable and very fair. Very knowledgeable in the industry, and above all a really good person. Highly recommend!

Omg!!! I cannot say enough good things, texted today without much hope of help. Texted back right away, asked for a picture of the valves, responded that is was a easy fix, came over within the agreed upon of time, rebuilf my valve, tested the system, looked at my sprinklers coverage (bonus: not what I called about but since they were here 😀), could not have been nicer, efficient and didn't break the bank! My new go-to and the company i will recommend to my friends 🧡

Super easy to schedule online. They are fast and thorough with the blowouts. I will keep using them.

I used these guys for blowouts for a couple of years. I didn't have any major issues with them until recently. Unfortunately, when you have an issue is when you find out how decent...or not, a company is. So, here's what happened. Note that I had used my sprinklers all season (this is important for later).
They were scheduled to come do a blowout. They showed up to do the blowout, I met the worker at the door, and things started normally. After a bit of time, he came and knocked on my door again. There was a problem. At some point the pipe had broken near my shut off valve. The worker assured me he had not broken it. I'm not super upset about this part as I honestly don't know what happened. As I said above, I had used the sprinklers all season. So, it's not like the pipe had been broken all season. I'm also not too keen on believing "it's now broken, but it wasn't me". But again, this isn't so relevant to the story as it's not my main issue. And maybe something weird happened with the pipe...I don't know.
Upon showing me it was in fact broken, the worker said he would contact his boss about it. He tried calling him at that time but was unable to get in touch with him. Therefore, he took my number to pass along to his boss and I was to hear back from them.
Time goes by...no texts, no phone calls. I eventually sent an email describing what had happened and inquired about an update. My email also went unanswered. So, this is my issue. I ended up with a broken pipe. No one bothered to call/text me back regarding it. Then, furthermore, they ignored my email. This ended up being a $500 repair. I have no interest in doing business with them again. A good company would have taken some responsibility and, of course, not ghosted their customer.
They seem to be listed under both The Maintenance Shop & Sprinkler Blowouts here. I'm not sure where this should go. So, I better leave it under both.
Edit: just to respond a bit...
Nope, I'm not confused about which place I used. I used "The Maintenance Shop" for multiple years, as I said. I don't need you to confirm this. But attached now is a redacted transaction receipt. Just in case someone thinks I'm making things up. This was from the year prior. I also have plenty of e-mail receipts and such from previous years.
Your excuse about "text is the best method" is nonsense. You respond to the method in which your customer chooses to contact you. And if I'd been contacted in the first place, as I was told I would be, I never would've needed to e-mail. Furthermore, the issue was that no response happened at all - and this was more than just an email going unanswered.
I also don't care about your disclaimer. It doesn't change any of the above. I even specifically said that the damage itself wasn't the main issue. The only part of your response that indicated any concern was the "I'm sorry", which probably doesn't carry much sincerity. Everything else just seems to be directed at trying to discredit my review. I've moved on at this point and won't be using you guys again. Further responses like you've given and I'm going to lower my rating. It's not like I'm just randomly on Google to review random sprinkler places. And you can see I'm not the only reviewer here saying things like this. Do a better job with your customers in the future. -
I had a client that forgot to blow out their sprinklers and we were in December and getting ready to sell their home. I reached out and the Handyman Maintenance Shop was out within 24 hours to take care of it for us. I left messages with two sprinkler blow out comapnies who claim to do late fall blowouts and no call back even after two days. I am so grateful and have stored them in my phone for future use!

I had reached out for an appointment and a couple days later I was getting my sprinklers blown out. The fast response was great, especially as a new homeowner who forgot to get the sprinklers blown out sooner. The tech was super quick and efficient, everything was completed in less than 20 minutes. Thank you for the quick response and service.

We moved to using The Maintenance Shop after the larger regional backflow company wasn't returning my calls.
With The Maintenance Shop, I asked for a backflow inspection on a Friday, over text, and it was done early Monday morning. Service doesn't get much better than that. Even with 7 locations, we trust all our annual backflow tests and repairs to The Maintenance Shop for over 2 years now. -
Wow. Avoid these guys. You'll get a nice price on the estimate and then they'll bill you MUCH MUCH more with no warning and no approval. Find a better company to do business with, which should be easy.

Used this company to blow out my sprinklers. Kicked one sprinkler across the yard and then left all my valves completely open for the winter. When they came back in spring to backflow test and turn everything on, the guy couldn’t figure out why everything was leaking and left open… so he ran in a hurry. When I went in the backyard, my valve box was flooded and so was half the yard. Tried calling immediately and texting, left a message… crickets! I will never use them again. Horrible! Maybe they should master sprinklers before they advertise that they can fix everything!

Steve was able to accommodate me into his schedule for my annual back-flow check very quickly. The process of requesting my assessment was seamless using his form. I will definitely refer back to this company for years to come.

Our previous “blow- out” company was sold and we were never contacted by the new owner. We contacted The Maintenance Shop and they were out the next day to take care of it for us. Very organized company and great young man who showed up to do the work. We will definitely recommend this company to other friends and family.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS. Joining the other negative reviews.
To preemptively address the owner's response: There's no excuse to consistently ignore dozens of customers, and do one sided jobs with no oversight. YOU ARE WRONG, WE ARE RIGHT.
A week ago I booked a backflow test as mandated by my city. All done online. Zero communication for a week, no text, email, phone call, or carrier pigeon. I completely forgot about it.
11:30pm last night I got a text saying a technician will come next day. I called and texted multiple times this morning; calls go to a non operating voicemail. I got an automated text: "the office is closed, we'll get back to you next week."
Then I got an invoice.
So I guess someone I've never spoke to, went to my house when I wasn't there. I know nothing about what they did or where or how.
I guess I just need to pay the invoice and be thankful these guys graced my house with their presence. -
Service is good and prompt provided communications and feedback are done using text only (no email or phone messages). Would like to have received a copy of the test report after the backflow test failed in order to more effectively troubleshoot how to resolve the problem but to-date they have been very responsive in scheduling performing the retest.
