Home Services reviews in Meridian, Idaho

Had them replace my Backflow two years ago and have been using them for the testing since.
Noticed my Backflow was leaking so reached out. Figured they would just take care of it since they are the only ones who have worked on the new Backflow and it shouldn’t be leaking after only a couple of years but ended up getting a $60 charge to just replace some teflon tape. I understand a business needs to make money but I also expect accountability and customer support and I don’t feel like I was given either.
Edit*
There was no need to text me about my truthful review.
It be clear it was 7 minutes of labor (have video of your tech saying so) but your system rounded it up to 15 minutes. So more than doubled the labor amount.
Also I will mention the lack of transpancy. When I contacted you all you said was "i can set that up for tomorrow". You never mentioned a service fee. I wasn't told how much anything cost actually until after the service was complete.
A company who cares about their customers wouldn't have charged $60.98 for that. You can disagree all you want but that doesn't change the fact there are companies who can and do "lose" money by taking care of loyal and repeat customers. They also wouldn't text their customers to complain about a truthful review they left. Due to that I am lowering this to a 1 star review. -
I see they responded

Hi Blake, we take customer feedback seriously, but we’re unable to find any record of you in our system for the past five years. It’s possible you may have mistaken us for another business. If you did have an experience with us, we’d appreciate the opportunity to understand and resolve any concerns. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. If this review was left in error, we’d appreciate a correction. Thank you!"
Nope, you're absolutely the only maintenance shop that I've ever worked with that was as rude as you were. Maybe if you used a real CRM instead of google sheets to track customer information you would see that you did business with me twice in the last two years. I posted your letterhead as proof that you've sent me an invoice before.
Unfortunately I've deleted all of your threatening text messages that match up with the same tone that other people have reported.
This dude's customer service is as bad as his taste in font for his forms. Who chooses Comic Sans' ugly cousin "docs-Patrick Hand" unironically for their forms? I'll tell you, this guy does. -
The Maintenance shop did a great job on my sprinkler blow out. It was easy to book online, they had great communication via text and were even able to complete the job without me being home. As a new widow I was so grateful for having one less thing to worry about. I use them again.
-
Used them for multiple projects for years now, repairs, sprinkler blow outs, etc. They respond quickly, are on time, do quality work and charge a fair price. My go to company for home repairs. Highly recommend!

I've used The Maintenance Shop over the years for sprinkler blowouts and backflow pressure checks at my place of business. Each time before the applicable season, I perused the website and read the plain English language instructions. Because I understand the nature of contracts and the importance of following instructions (as we all should), I recognized what my responsibilities were as a client, and what their responsibilities were as a service provider. I've always had good experiences with Steve, Jess, or any of the other providers who performed the service. They have replaced one complete backflow valve, serviced another with parts, and kept my sprinkler lines from blowing up in the spring by getting them clear of water in the fall. I never have concerns when Steve and company show up to go to work.
Looking around at some of the negative reviews I can see the main issue with most people is that they don't following simple instructions. It really is an easy, painless process if you simply read the contract folks. If you need to timely cancel, there's a link to do that.
Thanks Steve and company for your continued good work at my office! -
I would not recommend the maintenance shop, they would not accept talking on the phone, just texts, and when I asked for an explanation to prove it to me which code states the reason why my backflow assembly testing has failed , I got the answer that he's being in business for 20 years, and he's the one with the license, not once, 3 times. The maintenance shop was not able to back their statement, and no concrete answer was given.
Disappointed !
You shouldn't have touch the assembly the minute you saw it was not installed properly. what are the first 3 steps when you walk on the property and get ready to perform the test? Why did you perform the test and than pulled the tag off ? that means you passed the test and than changed your mind. -
The Maintenance Shop is a lifesaver. I texted Steve on Sunday and he replied almost immediately. I was very impressed. I had called another company on Saturday with no results. Steve understood the problem. I needed someone to fix and replace sprinkler heads and reprogram the system. Kelly was fantastic! I plan to call them for more of my house repairs. Thank you!

HORRIBLE communication!!! Would not answer any of my phone calls, or emails. Yet was charging me "extra" money for a service he didn't even come to do. I have cameras at my house that will notify me whenever a car pulls up, and when a person is on my property. I am certain they lied about coming to my house and reported to the city that I "passed" as a easy money collection for them. I DO NOT reccomend.
Update: I will not be deleting my previous post due to your rude and inappropriate behavior this morning as the OWNER. While I appreciate you providing proof that someone did come to my house, I find it frustrating that you only chose to reach out after I left a poor review.
I stand by my original comment: your communication and customer service are unacceptable. Calling me to say you were "pissed" and threatening to sue me is not an appropriate way to speak to any client. I am holding you accountable for that behavior and strongly suggest you work on improving your communication—especially when upset—without excusing your actions by saying you are "passionate."
I still would not recommend your service and encourage you to handle any future conflicts in a calm and professional manner. -
My neighbor recommended The Maintenance Shop for sprinkler blowouts saying they were the best in the valley. I've had them out for six years now and my neighbor was right!
Each year I modify my sprinkler system (22 zones now) and they're always able to work through a mix of controllers and valve types.
The sign up process is simple and the communication is great. I highly recommend carefully reading all the information available during sign up. It outlines their process and explains the communication you should expect.
As a data-geek, I love the blog and the blowout data. -
We worked with the maintenance shop last fall for a sprinkler blow-out. They did a great job. This spring the irrigation valve broke so we reached out to to see if they could help. They responded quickly, were able to resolve our issues, came in under budget and cleaned up the area when they were done. Most importantly to us, they were very communicative and provided pictures of the work. We do not live in the area so having the pictures was greatly appreciated. We will work with them again.
-
Excellent experience, Steve and Kelly were a pleasure to work with, responsive, and helped us a great deal! Main/drain/backflow replacement. Quickly and professional handles my issues right away. Good communication throughout the work.
-
The tech they sent out to blow out our sprinklers last fall didn't drain the valve. Because of that, the valve cracked and broke. My husband called Steve Crist, the owner; he didn't answer. He then sent a text message. Steve replied "he'd look into who did it". Then crickets.....ZERO accountability. It was The Maintenance Shop who did it! Obviously bad training. Customers do not care who did it. We want to know what you, as the owner is going to do about it. No apology, no rush to get it fixed, nothing. It wasn't until I posted on Next Door did my husband receive a text back (3 days later). My husband ended up fixing it so we could get sprinklers on before vacation and to water in fertilizer.
I'm very disappointed. A quick call back saying he'll get someone out ASAP would have saved him long time customers. But the lack of concern for customers and the lack of urgency bit me the wrong way. Worst communication I've ever had with a local company. Very disappointed.... -
Well, I’ll tell you Steve and his crew are wonderful. I’ve had problems with my sprinklers for the last four years and when I finally decided to fix them, they were very gracious very kind very knowledgeable and now even though I had to put on a Backflow device four years ago. My sprinklers worked great now I am thrilled. Don’t hesitate to check them out.

Poor Communication and Questionable Business Tactics
“If you’re looking for a good laugh at your own expense, Maintenance Shop Sprinklers is the place for you. I imagine the team gathers around their keyboards, donut crumbs flying, chuckling as another ‘sucker’ like me forks over a ridiculous cancellation fee. Should’ve seen it coming—bunch of sly rascals running the show here. They’ve got the hustle down pat, and me? Just another line item in their ‘gotcha’ Christmas budget.
I filled out an online form with this company on 10/28, expecting a call or email to schedule a sprinkler blowout. Weeks went by with no communication. On 11/17, they sent a spam-like email that I didn’t see—it was buried in my spam folder, which their own employee later admitted is common. Then, on 11/21, I received a vague, unprofessional text message that I initially disregarded because it also looked like spam. It took me a while to figure out who this company even was, my initial encounter was so long ago.
Without any confirmation or proper scheduling, one of their workers unexpectedly showed up at my door on 11/22 late in the afternoon. I had no idea what time they would arrive based on the unclear text message, and by then, I had already hired another company to do the job.
Now, I’m being charged a $30 non-cancellation fee, despite never agreeing to a specific time or being properly notified. Their voicemail is full, making it impossible to get in touch and resolve the issue.
This feels like a calculated tactic: rely on unclear and poorly timed communication (emails that go to spam, last-minute texts), show up unannounced, and charge cancellation fees to unsuspecting customers who didn’t even realize they were scheduled.
For comparison, I contacted a different sprinkler blowout company the same day (10/28). They completed the job within a week, called ahead to confirm, and gave me a specific timeframe for their arrival. Their communication was clear and professional—the exact opposite of this experience.
If you value clear communication and ethical business practices, look elsewhere. I will not use this company again. -
These guys are really the best. I had a surprise leak in my sprinkler pipes this morning and they were able to come out and get it fixed for me same day. Steve and Jesse are always willing to take the time to explain everything and don't make you feel stupid for asking questions. I have had them repair things for me over the last 5 years and never had an issue. I recommend them to everyone that I know.
-
These guys have been doing my sprinkler blowout and various repairs for years. 100% reliable, professional, knowledgeable, ethical and efficient. Communication is always great, and their clearly defined system works well. I just had some significant sprinkler system repairs done and couldn’t be more satisfied. Jesse worked his tail off for a couple days and did a fantastic job getting me back in business. Fair price for good work. Appreciate these guys - they’re as solid as it gets.

I've used them for a few years for sprinkler blowouts without issue, but this year was different. I booked online and waited... After a few weeks without hearing anything (and nothing about Garden City being mentioned on their scheduling calendar or blog) I sent an email trying to make sure I didn't fall through the cracks. After another week without hearing anything or getting a response to my email, I texted to ask the same thing. I got a snarky reply telling me, "You probably missed the part that..." with lengthy quotes from their web page and telling me I should be looking at that and their blog, not texting or emailing them..
I looked at the webpage, calendar, and blog again, none of which even mention being in Garden City at all. When I said that, I got another snarky text about how this was covered "ad nauseum" in their terms and conditions and blog--NONE OF WHICH STILL SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SERVING GARDEN CITY AT ALL. I said that, and their response was, "Did you read the part above the calendar that saus 'This calendar is for estimation only..." and another lengthy quote from their web page.
So, business owner, rudely telling customers who have looked at your blog and your calendar and have no indication they aren't falling through the cracks is not the way to keep customers. Congrats on winning the "Who can be snarkiest" campaign instead of addressing a customer's reasonable concerns--NONE OF WHICH WERE ADDRESSED BY ANY OF THE STUFF YOU CUT AND PASTED INTO YOUR TEXTS. Winning the argument about whether you should treat your customers with some dignity means losing a customer. Good job to whomever is texting on your behalf. -
I am updating my review based on the request aka threats of the owner of this business in suing me for defamation and put a lien on my property if the non-cancellation fee was not paid through collections (which I did pay on 1/1/25). My sincere and honest opinion about this business is the following:
I would never do business with them, no matter what. I acknowledge that I did not read the 36 paragraphs of terms and conditions on the form I filled out, therefore, I was very surprised with the outcome. Most of us do not read terms and conditions on things like requesting a sprinkler blowout. Most of us read terms and conditions on items that will financially affect us. I will attempt to summarize their terms and conditions and let you decide for yourself if you want to click that submit button to request services. I do not know about their other services, because the only service I requested was an irrigation blowout.
The business does not have time to schedule blowouts during blowout season. Therefore, when you submit a form, you are not requesting an appointment. You are agreeing to receiving the service at any given time and day they choose, and you will be notified the night before by text message or email. It’s your responsibility to make sure their message or email do not go to the junk mailbox and you are not informed that services will be rendered at your property. If you need to cancel the service, you need to fill out a form. They will not answer text messages or phone calls. Failure to cancel the service will result in a non-cancellation fee.
Apparently, I am not the only person who did not pay attention to the terms and conditions, and I will not be the last. According to the reviews on different online platforms, many people have gone through the same situation I have gone through; rudeness, name calling and threats. Mind you that I did call him names too. Apparently, because I am Latinx, I do not know how to read properly and I should ask someone else to read the terms and conditions for me if I am not capable of understanding (owner’s words).
The bottom line here is, if you are looking for a business like 99% of the Treasure Valley provide which consists of scheduled appointment, a working phone number for calls or texts, this business cannot provide that for blowouts. I recognize they have provided business for thousands of people in the Valley, and they do receive good reviews as well. However, their business practices do not work for me, a full-time professional worker. I need to know when someone will be at my house so I can work from home.
I also did a lot of research regarding this business and noticed that they have had a lot of issues with other customers like weapons pulled at their technicians, police called, trespassing charges threats. I feel really bad for the technicians. I was not threatening or rude to the technician at all. I informed him I was unaware and I had had the service performed two weeks prior.
I did reach out to The Attorney General and the BBB as well. We live in a free country. While he can run his business the way he wants, I can also leave reviews and my opinion about how he runs his business as well without the fear of a defamation lawsuit. These platforms exist for a reason. If I was in the same business as him paying people to leave bad reviews, that would be defamation. I am just a professional, a homeowner who just wanted her sprinklers blown out. I never thought I would have so much headache and stress trying to get a basic service done at my house. -
34 one star reviews isn't enough for this company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. The owner, Steven Crist is the most arrogant and rude man I have had the displeasure of doing business with.
October 28 I submitted a request for a sprinkler blowout
Nov 4 a technician comes out to blow out my sprinkles, but I received no communication of that prior. "No worries", I thought, "at least it's happening." I go the bathroom after he got there, come back out and he's gone. Job uncompleted. So I think something must have happened, I'm sure they will communicate with me. ZERO communication happens, so I assume they just aren't going to do it.
Nov 12 I hire another company to come do it since I have heard nothing. The new company comes out that day, all is done.
Nov 22 almost 3 weeks after the first guy came out, a second technician from Steven comes unannounced and blows out my sprinkler system, even though it's already been done by someone else.
In my confusion, I paid their invoice thinking it was the previous business. Once I realized, I reached out to Steven and explained the situation, and that I wasn't asking for a refund but would have appreciated better communication to as what was going on. He showed me proof that they had sent out texts from their automated system telling me the night before each technician came out. I never received them because apparently some providers flag their system as spam and don't deliver it. He told me "that's your carriers fault, not mine." Maybe if that's happening use a different system? Regardless, I was more frustrated with the lack of communication of telling me why the service wasn't performed and that they would be sending out another technician to finish the job, almost 3 weeks later.
After arguing with each other like children, Steven never owned up to anything and kept blaming his technicians saying "they should have communicated that" as if that was my responsibility, or "take it up wit your carrier, I sent confirmation." I kept trying to explain that's on him as a business owner, but he over and over again kept avoiding any responsibility while placing the blame on anything else he could. I was not even seeking a refund, yet he never apologized once and spoke in an extremely ARROGANT manner.
I ended up paying two companies for the same job. At the end of the day he is an extremely prideful, poor business owner, who can't even say "I'm sorry for the confusion/lack of communication."
I have included a screenshot of his last text to me below.
DO. NOT. DO. BUSINESS. WITH. HIM. Don't let him keep running a business treating customers like this. -
I’ve used The Maintenance Shop for sprinkler blowouts two years in a row, and tried for a third.
Last season, my system’s backflow preventer broke. I later realized it was because the water hadn’t been properly shut off, even though the system was supposedly blown out. I fixed it myself and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Mistakes happen.
This year, I scheduled another blowout. Weeks later, when I reached out about scheduling, I was told they already visited and never finished because they couldn’t find the main and drain. Nobody said a word to me at the time, no call, no text.
If they’d reached out, I could’ve shown them exactly where everything was and avoided another risk of damage.
Disappointing experience overall.
Communication and follow-through are just as important as the service itself. -
I chose this company because of their great reviews, but my experience was disappointing. I scheduled a sprinkler blowout a month in advance. They rely on automated texts saying they’ll come the next day, but they never showed up on the scheduled date. Instead of a simple personal call or text confirming they were on their way—like every other company I’ve used—I just received another automated message two days later with a new date.
They also send a link to a daily route “blog,” which felt unnecessary and cheesy when all I needed was a straightforward sprinkler blowout.
Overall, the lack of communication and reliability means I won’t be using this company again.
