Reviews of local pros in Aurora, Illinois

On 5/29/24, I entered into a contract with Masonry Doctors for the below services:
-Removal and Replacement of driveway with new 4000 psi concrete with fibers and mesh for reinforcement
-18 inch cut infront of garage door for both garage doors
-backyard patio extension(12ft by 19ft ) and XL grill gazebo build with footers
-front concrete walkway and concrete apron installed
Rolando was very communicative and willing to work within our budget. Required submittals were timely, the entire team was always respectful, they maintained a clean site and regularly removed trash and debris. Rolando was very responsive to our change order of adding the walkway, apron and step, which was reasonably priced, and documented. Any problems encountered along the way, were resolved without issue; Rolando was very reasonable with our review and negotiations. Some customers nick pick and complain about the little things, but you will not find that here! Nothing is ever done to perfection, but Rolando and his team worked really hard, took pride in their work and I love that this is a family business in such high demand and they continue to thrive. In the end, I found the total cost of $17,288 to be reasonable, I was happy with the work and will definitely be hiring again!
Thanks Rolando and team for your wonderful work!!! -
Fantastic. Rolando and his team worked very hard in the hottest parts of summer with impecable precision. He is an expert at installing pavers, it’s truly an art he has mastered. The quality of work far exceeded my expectations. The pool installed is great quality- with Rolando continuing communication all the way through pool closing to ensure all my needs were met. Masonry doctors not only prides themselves on their work, but as well as follow ups to ensure complete satisfaction. I’m shocked to see reviews stating he doesn’t communicate or return to fix stuff because If ANYTHING wasn’t exactly how I wanted it- Masonry Doctors: Rolando and his team ensured it was corrected immediately. He cares a lot about leaving his customers happy. You are in good hands with Masonry Doctors.

Highly recommend Masonry Doctors!”
Masonry Doctors did an amazing job on our patio. From start to finish, their team was professional, organized, and very detail-oriented. The workmanship was top quality and everything was done exactly as promised. They kept the job site clean, communicated clearly throughout the project, and finished on schedule. The patio came out better than we expected and completely transformed our backyard. If you’re looking for reliable, skilled contractors, these are your guys. -
I had a water leak under my front window that required siding, the window, trim, and the cultured stone to be removed. There was a hiccup when the carpenter was a no show. I had Rolando cancel him and I did all that work myself. Masonry doctors came in and did a great job installing the cultured stone under my window. Very professional work. Looks great!

Very happy with the work Masonry Doctors completed on the front brick wall of my house! Rolando and his team are very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The brick wall was buldged and they manage to secure it in one day. I would highly recommend this company.

Couldn't be happier with the work Rolando and his team did! From the initial visit and proposal, throughout the scheduling and work completion, Rolando was quick and clear with communication and expectations. Rolando and the team were very knowledgable and experienced and were able to repair our patio that was falling apart (literally had pavers falling off the side) - back to looking brand new and most importantly safe! Highly recommend Masonry Doctors to anyone in need!

This review of Masonry Doctors is for fabulous workmanship Rolando and his team did on our family's chimney stack in Aurora, IL. What we thought would be some efficient pointing and repointing of joints became a partial rebuild once Rolando and team were on the roof & accurately assessed the 110 yrs of weathering effects on the stack. Turned into rebuilding the chimney.
Rolando quickly sent photos while still on the roof, detailing the issue, suggested a plan for correction and his team went to work carefully finishing a great piece of work. The new chimney looks great, is well built and improved with a nice cap/rain guard, added a crown and clay pipe which were gone due to age.
Excellent Team, very Knowledgeable, and competitive pricing, plenty of quality for the value. -
Rolando installed our retaining wall and pool this spring. Sounds like a straight forward project but the retaining wall is almost 8' tall and our back yard backs up to woods. They did a great job, good craftsmanship, and highly responsive. We love our new backyard escape. It's amazing! Would highly recommend!

Rolando and his team did an excellent job of installing my new brick mailbox which was damaged. They found the exact match with my house brick and color to maintain the esthetic view of the home. Thank you. I would certainly recommend Masonry Doctors for the work.

Our stone mailbox column was completely destroyed after being hit by a car. (See my before and after photos)
The original was made of natural stone that matched the stone on our home, so we wanted the new mailbox to look like the original one.
Working with natural stone is not easy. You need someone with the knowledge and skill to carefully measure, cut, and create a layout that is balanced (both visually and structurally). And also, in our situation, we wanted the design to match how the existing stone looks on our house.
We are so grateful we found Rolando with Masonry Doctors. He understood how important it was to us to recreate the original look.
The finished mailbox is beautiful! It’s better than the original—honestly, you’d never know it had been completely rebuilt.
Rolando was professional, reliable, and a talented craftsman.
If you need a masonry project done right, especially one involving natural stone, I highly recommend Rolando and his team! -
We had an amazing experience working with Rolando and his team on our patio and gazebo project. From start to finish, they truly went above and beyond. They didn’t just install pavers — they helped us through the entire design process.
They assisted us with selecting countertops, appliances for our outdoor kitchen, lighting, brick choices, and every detail in between. Their guidance made what could have been an overwhelming process feel smooth and organized.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail are outstanding. The patio and gazebo turned out even better than we imagined. Communication was clear throughout the project, timelines were respected, and the crew was professional and hardworking.
If you’re looking for a company that treats your project like their own and helps from beginning to end, I highly recommend them. -
Izzy was great! He was punctual, friendly, completed all work in a timely basis, and answered all my questions. I would recommend him to anyone!

Mark did an excellent job; explained what needed to be done and more importantly, why. His knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements for my snowblower was excellent, true experienced professional. Thank you!!

If I could choose zero stars, I would. Sears sent a technician to investigate a squeaking sound during the spin cycle of my washing machine. Service person spent much of the time on the phone and even had me hold the machine up while he inspected it. Finally, he said he thought it might be the motor but wasn't sure. He offered me the opportunity to pay $689. By then, I had a strong feeling Sears was not the company they used to be so I was eager to get him out of my house. Honestly, he made me feel uncomfortable. He reassembled my washing machine, charged me $129 and left. Two days later, I want to use my working (but squeaky) washing machine and the computer isn't working. It won't start and flashes to "Call Technician for Repair". Josh, the Sears, doesn't know how to reassemble a washing machine. I called Sears and they offered to charge me another $129 for a visit to fix what Josh broke. ***Do not work with Sears. They are a floundering organization and demonstrate no interest in customer service. Their service techs are incompetent and the company assumes no responsibility for their work AND damage their techs do.*** ***If you get a bad tech there is literally no recourse. Sears keeps your money and you are worse off than before you called Sears. Think local. There are many reputable appliance repair services that function without a call center and have an investment in the community.

The technician was perfectly fine, however the in ability to connect with a person with questions about scheduling is why I will never use this service again.

Jorge is welcome to service my appliances whenever he likes! He has been here before, and was the first technician to notice that my water softener (which had been serviced several times before by other technicians) was missing a hose. On this latest visit, not only was he early, but he was able to assure me that the water softener was not leaking, and then discovered the real source of the leak! I've been having for months! He is efficient, observant, and considerate!
-
Terrible!!! The technician extended the four hour window of time by more than an hour then canceled via text within 10 minutes of the time he was supposed to be here! Very poor customer service and total disrespect for my time which he wasted for an entire half day! Do not schedule an appointment with them!
-
Mark was professional, knowledgeable and personable. He listened to my concerns, explained the problem and offered choices for additional services to save money. The repairs, new belt and blades plus a much needed tuneup were done quickly. The mower now runs as good as new. Thank you.

I have never had worse customer service in my life. This man walked into my house angry! He walked up to my refrigerator and speaking very quickly was telling me what I had to sign as he was about to move the refrigerator. I said wait aren’t you going to put something under it so it doesn’t scratch the floor? He says oh I can and went out to his truck to get something to help not ruin my floor. From there it went downhill. He told me I had a leak behind my refrigerator, but he couldn’t do anything about it. I would have to get a plumber to shut the water off or my husband who’s out of town. I asked him to hold on my son was coming. he’s five minutes away. He wasn’t going to wait. Then he called somebody that said yes he can shut the water off. He pushed the refrigerator back in and was getting ready to leave. I asked him if he was having a bad day, I told him he had a major attitude. Told me he didn’t have a bad attitude, and I said yes he did. He called somebody looking for replacement parts and was speaking in another language. I had my husband on the phone, my son who was here and myself. None of us could believe how rude he was. There is so much more to the story. I came home from work Friday and my refrigerator was dead. My first available appointment was today, Monday. Maybe if I would’ve been able to talk to a live representative I could’ve shut the water off and not have my floor ruined. I still haven’t talked to live representative. This is the worst service I’ve ever had

They cancelled on me 3 days in a row. My fault for rescheduling after the first time they kept pushing back my appointment and eventually cancelled. Impossible to get anyone on the phone. Only AI responses. Would not trust them to call if you had an urgent service need. Unreliable and unprofessional.

Chuck was knowledgeable, very nice, and tidy. He got my dryer working again quickly. Would recommend.
