The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is a great place to relax and unwind. A peaceful oasis to walk through or stop and enjoy the natural landscaping and natural wildlife.

It's a quiet part of the Lincoln Park Zoo, and you can enter from the street or from inside the zoo. A perfect place to take your lunch and enjoy a little bit of wilderness in our great city!

A hidden gem in The City of Chicago. My boyfriend and I were exploring the the city and came across this peaceful and beautiful environment to relax and meditate.

This is a really peaceful place to stop in if you're in the area and want to get away from the city. Beautiful views and a nice pace to stroll through.

Such a pretty little gem in the middle of a city. It feels like you are in the middle of nowhere! Definitely worth a little walk through. There are cool places nearby to visit also!

Serene. Lots of birds. Saw 5 different hawks/falcons in the trees. Saw wedding photos taken and a man proposing to his soon-to-be fiance.

This is a beautiful spot, but please DO NOT book your special event here until AFTER they are re-open to the public / done with the construction!!!

I’ve been hearing stories from other photographers talking about how it was not communicated to them that there would still be construction supplies laid out, or that there would be way less mess than there really was. Unfortunately today, our intimate wedding group fell victim to this, as the whole pavilion area was pretty much unusable, which was not communicated to them.

To top it off, the employee who was there to let us in (slightly heavy set, middle aged white guy), interrupted the entire wedding ceremony and SCREAMED at me for standing somewhere I shouldn’t have while taking photos. Which yes, my bad, this was a misunderstanding and I took a path I assumed was clear, but was not. Regardless, the way he reacted was as if I was ripping out plants and destroying the property or something, not an exaggeration. There are so many more respectful, graceful ways he could have gone about that, rather than damn near ruining the most important moment of this poor couple’s lives. He threatened to fine us/kick us out, despite no prior offenses from us. The bride was crying, everybody was flustered, and THEN accused us of trespassing on the way out (???)

Absolutely ridiculous. There’s some huge faults in their communication they need to work out, along with (hopefully) suspending and re-training this dude who threw a tantrum because I was standing on a rock I shouldn’t have been. I wish I got his name, this was on 7/11/25. Insane.

Very peaceful place

It is supposed to be the peak of blooming (July) but I haven't noticed many lilies' blooms 🤷

A beautiful, tranquil and quiet place hidden in plain-sight. The lily pond, temple-like structures and babbling waterfall make this a must-visit for seasoned nature lovers and novices alike. The close proximity to both the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Lincoln Park Zoo and the Lincoln Park Conservatory, makes it easy to add it to a day of nature loving fun for the whole Family.

We had to change our wedding ceremony venue a week before our event back in June.....It took them 2-3 weeks to respond to our emails/calls about us walking the venue one last time to get an idea before our ceremony. The place is still under construction, the paths are all grown over, weeds everywhere, and not maintained. They claimed "We will clear it up before our event".. BS since they had a wedding ceremony that same day.. DO NOT BOOK AN EVENT THIS YEAR.

The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool is simply stunning. There's an entrance (almost hidden) on Fullerton. Just West of the LP Zoo parking lot entrance.
So many places to stroll, sit, meditate, hike and so much more! Easily one of my favorite hidden gems in Chicago.

This gorgeous bit of scenery is an excellent place for a quiet walk or rest to escape the city and relax for a bit! Beautiful views and remarkably still!

Okay visited this place for my proposal. And this place will go down in my core memories.
It was so so beautiful. The fall colors, the tiny waterfall, the lake, everything!!!

Closed for 2 years for WHAT? They rebuilt a tiny wooden structure that should have taken a month to complete (easily finished off season). Meanwhile the rest of the area looks like crap, the worst condition it's been in since i started spending lots of time here ten years ago. Everything is overgrown, the entire pond is covered in scum and algae, they closed one of the paths, no idea why, and it looks like nobody has given any maintenance to it in 3 months or more. Yes, they've managed to shut down a space for two years and actually make it much WORSE, in true chicago fashion. What a waste of what was formerly my favorite spot in the city.

You have to visit Alfred Caldwell If u like a nice quiet and romantic place. You can access here with bike or car. Enjoy the park and take nice pictures with your beloved ones.

Extremely peaceful! Nice place to relax and focus on nature. Mini waterfalls, streams, & plenty of paths offering shaded areas to sit & take it all in.
