I called Midwest for an estimate and Jim came out, gave me a great and reasonable estimate and came out the next day to do the work. They were extremely professional and the work they did was beautiful. They put mulch in my yard and build a flagstone patio and my family and I are beyond happy. Thank you guys! Would absolutely recommend.

We selected MIDWEST LANDSCAPING in 2015 due to their membership in Better Business Bureau and Customer Satisfaction Guarantee on their website. The work from 2015 went well but our latest project in April 2019 was a nightmare.
We paid Midwest Landscaping for the following:
1. Remove pea gravel used as a ground cover for an old Rainbow System Climbing Unit;
2. Plant a Red Bud Tree in an area that was previously from an old tree removed in late summer the previous year.
3. Install a dry creek bed using Kabul Stones and River Rocks to help resolve our water drainage problem. Add 6 new Dogwood Bushes to match the existing bushes they planted in 2015.
4. Regrade and reseed our yard.
Midwest Landscaping completed their work in one day but never called J.U.L.I.E.
Midwest Landscaping actually did the following:
1. Covered the existing pea gravel with dirt then reseeded our yard.
2. Planted a Red Bud Bush, rather than the Red Bud Tree, which died back in June 2019.
3. The Cry Creek Bed was a Bed with Rocks and bushes which we clearly stated via text that we did not want a bed of rocks and bushes, We agreed upon 6 Dogwood Bushes but they only planted 5 instead. The President of Midwest Landscaping did return to plant the 6th but this did not match the existing 9 dogwood trees. Midwest Landscaping President clearly stated via text message the Dry Creek bed would be similar to the picture of a sample dry creek bed he sent us but would use Kabul Stones and River Rocks. They used PEA GRAVEL and Kabul Stones not River Rock. We never stated we wanted pea gravel in that area.
Complicating this situation: once Midwest Landscaping stated their work was considered completed and a few days after I filed a complaint with the BBB.org, the President of Midwest Landscaping and his wife appeared while I was gone and proceeded to vandalize our yard by digging up the established hydrangeas tree from our back yard and replant it in the center of our front yard in shade, in clay and in alignment with our front door. They verbally abused Meghan, a local landscaper helping me weed garden bed and plant new perennials, causing such a commotion that my neighbors called 911.
Once I returned home to speak with the responding police officer, I discovered they had shown this police officer a fabricated an email to justify their actions - a complete misrepresentation of the situation. If Meghan was not present and my neighbors did not call 911, we would have returned home to this tree in the center of our yard without any proof or knowledge to who did this to our yard. It is also worth noting that once again the President of Midwest Landscaping broke Illinois State Law requiring all contractors or people digging in our yard must call J.U.L.I.E.
before the work begins.
Although we followed BBB.org's recommendations and used a member of BBB who also had a Customer Service Guarantee on their website, we are left with a mucky muddy mess in our backyard. The Village Public Works came out to evaluate the water drainage problems within our immediate neighborhood - the work completed by Midwest Landscaping to help resolve our water drainage problem must be completely redone. We have a dead bush and a large area of our yard that must have the pea gravel bed now buried removed before we can plant anything further. We are now stuck with more pea gravel to remove and removing 6 dogwood bushes that were planted without calling J.U.L.I.E.. Since this area is the Northwest corner of our yard, we called JULIE to determine the extent of the damage only to discover several utility lines are buried within those 6 new Dogwood Bushes. Looking for a new Landscaper to help fix our yard has been challenging since most do not want to accept responsibility cleaning up a mess intertwined with utility lines.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to amend our complaint through the BBB Chicago Regional Office and are facing a total loss over $6,800 on this project with Midwest Landscaping, they are still member of BBB and retain their A+ Rating. -
Patrick Jr. and his men did a terrific job on landscaping. They were prompt and knew what to do. They also reassured me that the perennials would come back in the Spring. Thumbs up to this business.

Midwest did excellent work trimming three trees, refreshing our landscaping by removing unwanted plants, trimming other bushes and plants and adding additional mulch.

I called Midwest for some mulch, landscaping brick, and new bushes. Pat came out right away and gave me an estimate. The crew was there the next day to do the job. The crew was very professional and did the work in one day! When the job was finished, they made sure everything was cleaned up and hauled away. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future!

A big thumbs up to Midwest Landscaping for their exceptional work on our recent landscaping project. They provided a comprehensive turnkey service, including design ideas, plant selection, and labor for both the planting and hardscape (pavers). What impressed us the most was their clever approach to utilizing existing plants and beds, showing their expertise and respect for the landscape. Pat, the owner, along with his sons, did an amazing job. From promptly responding to our initial inquiry to delivering on-time and on-budget, Midwest Landscaping proved to be a reliable and skilled family service. I highly recommend Midwest Landscaping for your project -hire these guys!

We received a mailer advertising spring cleanup and yard services for this company. I contacted them strictly because we got their flier, and said we wanted spring cleaning & mulch installation. (I checked their website too for pics.) We set a date/time for someone to give us a quote. A man came, about an hour later than we scheduled, and walked around, and said "This isn't worth it. We are designers." Huh. That's great, but that's not what the flier in the mail promoted. We have a LARGE yard with lots of landscaping. We installed a new deck last year, and so all the ground around it is all torn up, which I showed him. Strangely, he didn't say, "But let's talk about designing your deck surround." It was brief, and strange, and he couldn't get away quick enough. A waste of my time. I couldn't even follow-up with any questions, he was hopping in his truck so fast. It's possible they do great work; they didn't want to work with me though.

This is the 6th year I have used Midwest Landscaping for my annual maintenance and special projects. They are very responsive and timely. From the time I call to the time the work is done, typically not more than 24 hours have passed. They are very professional and have great recommendations on how to enhance and improve our overall landscaping. I will continue to use them and would highly recommend them for those that have professional landscaping needs.

Pat and his team did excellent work on a job that turned out to be more involved than originally thought. He offered creative solutions and was willing to change course multiple times to get the job done right. His pricing was very fair, and all of his team members were a delight to deal with.
Highly recommended -
Midwest has done good landscaping work, cleanups, and plantings, in our front yard a few times.

I live in a heavily wooded area and I knew my front yard was dramatically overgrown. We called Pat mostly for a consult but was quickly impressed with his vision for the yard. With the exception of two bushes, Pat was able to create a masterpiece in the front of the house using mostly plants we already had on the property and just opening things up. It's completely transformed. I'm not going to say it didn't look like hard work but the end result was nothing short of magical. We're so happy we called Midwest and Pat and would highly recommend them to anyone who's looking for a honest, hardworking landscaper who understands your needs and works with you to achieve the beautiful landscape you desire

Highly recommend Pat and his team for your landscaping needs. Quick response to come quote project and started next day. Offered great options for design and did quality work. It was nice to work with a company that could accomplish everything we wanted done. We ended up with a fantastic new retaining wall, a well re-built back patio and removed trees and bushes. Pat was very attentive and calling daily to let me know status of project. Will definitely use again for future projects.

Last year Midwest Landscaping (Pat) stopped by our house and offered a few suggestions on what we could do to improve the landscaping in the front. We agreed with the ideas and called Pat this Spring. He is very easy to work with and with his sons did a fantastic job. Pat even came by a week later to make sure everything looked okay. We will definitely call Midwest Landscaping again.

We used Pat and his team for concrete patio/walkway removal and re-pouring, tree/shrub trimming, edging and mulch replacement. We found Pat to be incredibly responsive (job was completed in 3 days), competitive on price, honest and he genuinely cared about the work his team was doing to ensure we were happy upon completion. Pat was always around and available during the project to answer any questions we had. His team is incredibly hard-working - I can't say enough good things about their work ethic - his sons and Santiago and his team worked tirelessly and we were very impressed with the end result. Pat's work was well worth the price - not only in terms of our ultimate satisfaction, but also our home looks more valuable ;). I recommend Pat and his team highly and will continue to use him for future projects.

Pat and his team are the best. Fully transparent, honest, trustworthy. We've used him multiple times over the years and have NOT been disappointed!
-
Great work from Pat and his crew. They totally transformed my front yard. I gave him the basics of what I wanted done, but gave him a lot of latitude with the specifics and he came up with a great plan.

Thank you Midwest Landscaping for the complete renovation of my back yard. My back yard was completely covered in weeds, wild trees and over grown bushes. Midwest landscaping came a cleaned up my yard, created beds and planted beautiful bushes and laid mulch, trimmed all my trees away from my house and made me an oasis I’m happy to sit it. I highly recommended Midwest landscaping and their team, call them for all your landscaping needs.

Recently hired Midwest Landscaping Design & Trees to reset the pavers on my 20 yr old patio and replace a staircase and could not happier with the results. The team was great, worked quickly, and my backyard was spotless when they finished and my patio looks like new. Great work at a reasonable price and I highly recommend them.

PSA: do not trust this guy!
I wish I would have seen the reviews on here before I hired Pat to repair my paver stone driveway in September 2023. Unfortunately I was urged to look at their BBB reviews, which was A+. I am filing a complaint with them to reflect my experience.
There were large gaps between the pavers at the end of my driveway causing them to shift and I was concerned that the winter weather would exasperate the issue. When Pat got here, he convinced me to do additional work in other areas of the driveway. I don't know anything about these things and believed his "professional opinion." On the next visit, Pat said I should remove a shrub and cut back some trees and shrubs around my property. Which I said I'd think about. I asked for a quote and never got one, instead he started working the next day. A mature birch tree and an evergreen shrub was cut down to a stump, while I wasn't home.
This appears to be part of his MO - as he added many things to the "verbal contract" every chance he got, doubling the contract price without providing any paperwork or receiving any signed approvals. Then when it came to payment he REQUIRED CASH. Idiotically, I acquiesced. Now I'm out of luck.
Pat seems like quite a friendly guy really enthusiastic to help you get your project completed, however is unable to perform and when confronted turns vicious. I am a small Asian woman and when questioning the quality of work he got visibly frustrated and, in front of my 8 year old, shouted that "[he] should have known better than to deal with a....", at which point I asked him to leave my property.
Now seven months later, hoping his emotions would have tempered, I reached out with a video asking his help to remedy the poor quality of work and he refused because he “did a great job.”
The "great job" he did leaves my driveway looking aesthetically worse than when he started, and my pavers are still shifting - wish I could add a video. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
