The explanation and estimate of what was involved was informative and precise. The project went as expected with a great crew, very clean. Office staff very responsive to questions. We were given a window for timing, not notified the day before, which was difficult for us.
-
Tommy Pollina manages our lawn care as well as snow removal. They are also the landscape architects responsible for designing our beautiful front walkway and back patio. They worked within our budget and completed our projects in a timely manner. The crew is always respectful of our space. We have been so pleased with their work.

I had Tommy Pollina remove my 70 year old lawn which had a lot of problems and install sod. The installation team did an excellent job. I really like my new Lawn. Also, thanks to Gabby, my customer service rep who was always very friendly, knowledgeable, and kept me informed of the schedule.

We hired Tommy Pollina to re-grade and re-sod our front yard. Theirs wasn't the lowest estimate, but we're glad we went with them.
Joe came out and assessed the project and filled us in on all of our options. He and his staff communicated exactly what would be done and when it would be done, no surprises. They tore out the old turf, rototilled the underlying soil, augmented it with additional topsoil, did a rough grade, a final grade and then laid down 380 rolls of sod. Even with the large crew he committed, the project took several days to complete.
The crew was efficient, clean and did a fantastic job. The crew chief was very professional. Joe came out midway through the project to make sure everything was proceeding as planned. He and I talked for a long time about what was being done and how to properly care for the lawn afterwards.
We couldn't have asked for better results or a better crew and staff to work with. Very pleased. -
Tommy Pollina Landscaping did an excellent job of plowing and salting my parents residence this winter. This was the first time we used a plow service and they went over and above our expectations! Would highly recommend them to anyone looking to use their services! Fabulous to work with, great communication, even on weekends and evenings! They have excellent customer communications as well, quick and personable! You will love working with them!

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH NEW OWNERSHIP-A COMPLETE 180 FROM THE PREVIOUS COMPANY.
We had a fantastic experience with this landscaping company under its previous ownership. They handled our entire landscaping and hardscaping project -from design through installation- and we were thoroughly impressed. The work was high quality, the team was professional, and they stood behind their work with a solid warranty. Based on that, we felt confident and reassured that our investment was in good hands.
Unfortunately, that confidence has completely eroded since the company was sold to new ownership. What was once a responsive, customer-focused business has become unprofessional and unreliable. We've had several warranty-related issues arise-issues that should be straightforward to resolve-but the new company has not followed through on a single one.
We've reached out multiple times, only to be met with excuses, delays, or complete silence. It's clear that honoring previous commitments or clients is no longer a priority under the new management.
We understand that ownership transitions can come with challenges, but the lack of accountability and poor communication have made it an incredibly frustrating experience. What's most disappointing is that we were once proud to recommend this company to friends and neighbors-but we can no longer do so in good conscience.
If you're considering working with this company based on it's past reputation, be aware that the business has changed dramatically. We truly hope they take steps to restore the level of service and integrity that made the original company so respected in our community. Until then, proceed with caution -
We were in search of a landscaping company that could do a whole breakdown of our backyard. We got many quotes and they were all within the same range for what we wanted but Tommy Pollina Landscape definitely stood out from the rest. They did such a great job making us feel comfortable that we were putting our backyard in their hands. The team is very knowledgeable, helpful, and never pushing for more. Our whole project was done in a couple of days when others quoted us weeks! After our new SOD was laid down, we had concerns of certain areas but they assured us it was okay and will get better, they were even willing to come back and replace if it was needed. Eventually it did get better but it was peace of mind knowing that if it didn’t, it would be replaced. Overall Tommy Pollina Landscape is a great company and would recommend to any looking to get their moneys worth!

Tommy Pollina landscaping is very reliable and dedicated to the customers. They do a good job of maintaining lawns and provide excellent service. The staff is very courteous and friendly. I have been using Tommy Pollina since 1999.

This company is so exceptionally good! I trusted them with doing a large driveway and retaining wall project and they exceeded my expectations! They were timely, professional and had great craftsmanship. I would recommend them!

5 stars all day. If you’re looking for reliable, talented landscapers who truly care about their work, look no further. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to elevate their outdoor space or get landscape service

I’m in Palos Park and had been dealing with a drainage issue for years — every time it rained, my patio and driveway would flood. After trying different fixes with no success, I finally called Tommy Pollina Landscape Company, and I’m so glad I did.
Their team did an amazing job not only installing a new patio and driveway, which are both beautiful, May I say, but fixing the drainage problem by also integrating drainage components into the patio and driveway! I didn’t even know that this type of thing really existed. For the first time in years, the flooding is gone and everything works perfectly. The workmanship was top-notch, and the results speak for themselves.
Thanks to Tommy Pollina and the crew, the problem that had been frustrating me for a decade is finally solved. Couldn’t recommend them more! -
Everything they did looks fantastic! We had some sump pump drainage issues and they added French drains and two basins to fix the issue. They also did some grading and river rock work. Very happy with the results. Definitely recommend them for the quality, their communication, and the people!

5 Stars - Excellent Service and Outstanding Results!
I couldn’t be more pleased with the exceptional service I received from Tommy Pollina Landscape! From start to finish, they exceeded my expectations in every way. The team was professional, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of landscaping. They transformed my yard into a beautiful, well-maintained outdoor space that I can now enjoy year-round.
I truly appreciate their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction which is why we also refer them to our real estate clients. If you're looking for reliable and top-notch landscaping services, I highly recommend Tommy Pollina. They’ll go above and beyond to deliver stunning results! -
Thoughtful design of new bushes and greenery. We liked the variety of plants they recommended. Pleasant people to deal with. Crew was on time and efficient. Would recommend this company to all.

Tommy Pollina did a great job with creating beautiful planters for me. I loved working with Gabby. She had great ideas and worked within my budget.

We needed to fix a dead parkway area, remove a tree and dead bushes, and replant. Whitney came right over and had some good suggestions for changes. Work done promptly and all did well. We will use them for any future jobs.

Truly a disaster of an experience and I would highly NOT recommend this company to anyone. I was given their information from the village of Mount Prospect as I have horrible flooding issues in my back yard. It happens to be common thing in the area and I was told to contact "the best in the neighborhood" to fix it. To make a long story short, $4,000 project later in creating a swale in the back of my yard to get the water to discharge properly and unfortunately the issue is still there. Here is some things you can expect from this company if you choose to hire them:
- Incorrect start date, and continuous excuses as to why they are delayed
- Poorly supervised work with many pieces of the job missing when they claimed they were completed.
- Poor communication from everyone on staff, the excuse of "this is our busy season" is their favorite.
- Horrible follow up to the job not being completed to your satisfaction and lack of ownership.
- Rude and ignorant staff which do not know how to speak to their customers.
- If the job isn't done well, don't expect any phone calls returned or anyone to help remedy the situation.
- Incorrect verbiage used in their contract about a warranty on the work done considering they will not fix any of the issues.
Attached are some pictures for your viewing. You will see the issue of the flooding still taking place to this day. Behind the shed near the gravel is supposed to be where the water is supposed to discharge at. In the final email back to me, you will see that his remedy of our flooded back yard is to clear the area of dog feces. In all the pictures of the area I took, including the last one I sent him there is not dog feces anywhere to be seen. Unfortunately they have left me no other options other than contacting a lawyer to resolve the issue. Just save yourself trouble and find someone else for any landscaping needs. -
Given all the positive reviews, we contacted Tommy Polina to address a number of issues with our yard, including poor drainage, exposed sump pump drains, dead or dying landscape replacement and fencing for our dogs.
We really enjoyed the initial discussions. While not the cheapest, the company seems to know what they are doing. However, I can’t say definitively because once they had money in hand from a deposit, the excuses for delays have continued to mount. I understand that ours is not the largest job and probably not a priority, but I wish companies would simply be transparent about an inability to complete work timely.
I will say that the one bright spot was our direct contact, Whitney, who was very responsive and very diligent in planning our work. I’d suggest ownership takes her lead in customer service interactions.
UPDATE: I received an email apology from the owner for some of the delays (along with excuses for others) concurrent with a request to remove this review. When I respectfully suggested I’d wait to update until everything was finalized the owner became quite disrespectful, even going so far as to accuse me of “damaging his business”. I informed him that I am just posting a fair representation of my experience — if it’s damaging to his business then that is an issue with his customer service.
Without elaborating too much, he also refused to schedule a second part of the job (for which a 50% deposit of nearly 8,000 dollars has been paid for nearly a month and which was already supposedly scheduled) until I made final payment on what he considers a separate part of the job (for an invoice that has been outstanding about one week).
Given that he had my deposit in hand for weeks, my only leverage to ensuring the project was completed (a valid concern given the over three month delay for another piece of the work) was to withhold payment until a firm date was scheduled and the work begun. This business has no problem taking your money. They seem to struggle with fulfilling their obligations.
RESPONSE TO OWNER:
At no time was it ever communicated that any fencing was custom fabricated. In fact, I was told in May this would be scheduled for two weeks out. Not once after that did I receive a proactive update from the company. Any updates I received were only upon my following up and begging for info.
As for invoicing, it’s laughable to suggest anything was opened “200 times”. Perhaps you need a new system. Or, if you really thought invoices needed paid, you could have called or emailed. Not once did you do so.
As for “amateurs versus professionals”, this is silly man excuse to shirk duty. We had very little rain all summer in our area. Watched countless contractors at neighbors homes come and go, installing phenomenal products. During this supposed “weather delay”, our neighbors two doors down were able to obtain a brand new paver/asphalt driveway, and entire yard full of lush landscaping, and brand new sod in addition to sprinkler system and drainage.
To be clear, the 50% deposit was ALREADY paid to Pollina weeks before, as that was supposedly the means by which I was scheduled. Since pollina failed to honor its basic obligations and threatened to withhold service because of my review, my only recourse was to withhold the 50% remainder of the finished project until the other project (which also held a 50% deposit) began as Dan himself suggested the work was contingent on the review being removed, saying: “Please take care of the open invoices and update or remove the review so we can move forward with the drainage work as soon as conditions allow.”
Strongly suggest anyone reading this not take the owner, Dan, at his word. I am happy to post snippets from his disrespectful emails on this review if needed. Interestingly, Dan (the disrespectful owner) didn’t think the review was good for him when he emailed me telling me that by posting a review I was “actively embarked on a campaign to damage our business every day the review remains up”. Rather than acknowledging his failures, he blamed me. -
Tommy Pollina did a great job on a backyard project for me that included regrading, drainage system, as well as new sod and a beautiful row of techny arborvitae trees for privacy. They also helped solve a technical problem I had with leveling and anchoring an aluminum pergola on my patio. Whitney was my project manager and was amazing. She was very responsive, friendly, and a great communicator. Also, all workers assigned to my project were friendly, respectful of my property and very experienced. Thank you Tommy Pollina Landscaping Company!

I have winter service from Pollina for several years now for my property here in Mount Prospect. They do an excellent service and my driveway and the walk ways are cleared and made save on a timely manner. They did an excellent job during the recent snow event after Thanksgiving.

Joe Pollina’s expertise with plants helped us create a lovely, unique front landscape to complement our hundred year old house. His choices were perfect for the west exposure and were strong healthy plants. His men were polite and easy to work with and always seemed to be neat and careful. The project turned out great, but it didn’t happen over night. Patience is necessary for the best results.
