HVAC reviews in Oak Park, Illinois

We had a fantastic experience with Eric from this home services business. He's highly skilled at identifying and fixing problems like ours with the furnace unit. He was friendly, courteous, and made the process very smooth - a great guy to deal with!

Sold to me on a yearly membership with no clear understanding of what it entailed. Then quoted an exorbitant price. The numerous five-star reviews seem suspiciously manufactured, possibly by the company itself. Even more concerning is that their business address coincidentally shares my street - a red flag.

I'm extremely dissatisfied with this company's service. I called today and was told a technician would arrive between 4-7pm, but they wouldn't call me 30 minutes beforehand as promised. Instead, they took payment over the phone for $259 without delivering on their promise.
When I tried to follow up at 7pm, I was met with excuses about technicians being busy. They offered to reschedule for Monday, which is now Thursday, leaving me stranded. The fact that they've already charged my card for a same-day visit only makes things worse.
I'm stuck because I need the money back in my account as soon as possible and can't afford to wait around for another company to come out on short notice. The lack of communication from this business is appalling, especially considering it's now past 7pm and too late to explore other options. Paying $259 for nothing has left a bad taste in my mouth.
What really bothers me is that they've agreed to provide same-day service but then backed out on their end, leaving me with no money back in my account. I expect more transparency and reliability from a business, especially when it comes to services like this. -
Dan is exceptional. I called him for a tub repair job and he immediately spotted serious safety issues with the faucet, which could put my one-year-old at risk. He resolved the problem quickly and efficiently. Dan is prompt, courteous, skilled, and genuinely dependable - that's why I'm highly recommending him to anyone in need of reliable home services.

I recently hired Duncan Heating & Air Conditioning Co. for the first time, and their service exceeded my expectations. The quote process was lightning-fast, which surprised me given the relatively low cost. From start to finish, everything went smoothly and was done with utmost professionalism. I'll never need to look elsewhere for AC services again.

This company overcharged me by a significant margin. A quote for $1,700 to replace an inducer motor was too high, but getting another quote for $500 didn't change my mind - I'd already ordered the part online for $250. Saving myself 30 minutes of time was worth it. The real rip-off came when they tried to sell me a yearly program for $149, making the initial price even more excessive. Needless to say, I won't be seeking quotes from them again.

Jeff arrived on schedule, friendly and efficient. The company's communication system was spot on - a clear photo of the technician confirmed the arrival. Work completed quickly and at a reasonable cost. I've become reliant on this service for both personal and business requirements. This one individual, Jeff, sets the standard.

I shopped around among three companies before getting a quote from them, which was significantly lower than what I'd paid elsewhere for similar work. Mark arrived promptly on a Saturday afternoon and gave us an instant price tag. We got our new unit just four days later. The service was top-notch, with a very friendly and knowledgeable team - exactly what we needed.

Had a critical issue on this freezing Sunday, and they pushed through with a $150 service contract promising a quick visit within hours. Two hours in, they called to say none of their techs were available - despite the rep who sold me the deal claiming they had confirmed availability. It's baffling why she said that if she didn't know her own team's schedules. As a result, I wasted two hours of my time searching for a more reliable service before the weather gets worse. Extremely frustrating experience.

I needed help with my furnace, which was making a weird humming noise and not producing heat. Repeatedly freezing pipes. They came out twice in one week, each time charging me. The first visit was $900, the second was an additional fee, totaling $900 again. What they did was swap a modern WiFi thermostat for an old analog one - that's it. They said the problem was fixed and told me the charge included an inspection, but my original issue persists. Now they're sending me a quote for $1,200 to supposedly fix the problem, claiming it's high-quality work as usual.

We had a heating issue, so I dialed the main number during lunchtime. The rep assured me a same-day fix was possible, and someone would contact us within an hour or two. Two hours passed without a call, so I followed up - still scheduled for that day. A note was added to our account saying we should expect a quick callback. Unfortunately, no one reached out, leaving us to endure a freezing night with no heat in our home.

Duncan Heating & Air Conditioning Co. installed both units flawlessly, showcasing their professionalism from start to finish. The attention to detail was impressive, including the thoughtful touch of laying down taped carpet to contain debris. One standout employee, Dan, provided exceptional service by addressing all my queries and concerns with ease.
-
Excellent service from start to finish. We dealt with a power outage caused by a lightning strike, which left our lower level unusable. Dan was our point of contact with the insurance company and got everything sorted out efficiently. Duncan Heating & Air Conditioning arrived promptly to install a new unit, getting our home back to normal in no time.

Avoid these guys altogether. They sent out an independent contractor with minimal knowledge of heating and cooling, who couldn't even identify the problem with your system. The contractor's quote was $1600, but they didn't have any confidence in their diagnosis.
In stark contrast, a different company arrived at my place within 5 minutes and identified the issue - a faulty secondary heat exchanger that's a known problem with this Carrier Furnace model. They even mentioned that Carrier and Bryant lost a class-action lawsuit and offered it as part of the settlement. The replacement or new system would be eligible for a rebate, which is a clear advantage. -
Duncan just finished up at my place and he nailed it - my daughter's AC unit is fixed! He was super thorough, professional but chatty, and even showed us some basics for future upkeep. I'd definitely recommend him - he did a great job with a friendly attitude.

I've relied on Duncan Heating & Air Conditioning Co. for years, and their recent furnace replacement was flawless. The team provided top-notch, professional service - exactly what you'd expect from a seasoned provider. No complaints here; I'm thrilled with the outcome and wholeheartedly endorse this company to anyone in need of HVAC services.
-
Every interaction with their team was professional and respectful. The job was done punctually and to schedule, as promised. Their service is reliable and trustworthy - I'll definitely use them for any future HVAC needs during my stay here.

Roberto provided excellent service, coming across as professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough in his diagnosis. However, I'm disappointed with the hefty fee structure - a non-negotiable service charge plus $250 per hour costs add up quickly. The end result is a nice cooling system, but I question the billing practices.
-
Duncan Heating & Air Conditioning Co. gets my vote. They're a reliable choice, not just for me, but also for previous customers. Their service is top-notch - no gimmicks here. When I had a lingering issue, they tackled it head-on and even replaced the fan with a high-speed model to get rid of the noise. Their help was genuinely appreciated.
-
I was pleasantly surprised by this company's efficient services. They fit me in quickly to diagnose an issue with my whole house fan, which they promptly identified and fixed on the same day. The level of service was impressive and I'm glad I chose them. I'll be using them again in the future.

This company is a mystery. We tried to book an appointment over the phone, but were slapped with a hefty fee - $99, to be exact. Given that it's supposed to be a legitimate office, we expected more. What we got was a guy who sends out business to some young Hispanic person without any representation.
Our scheduled time slot was between 12-3 pm, but this guy kept pushing the start time back. First, he said 5-6 pm, then 30 minutes after that, and finally around 7:30 pm - which is practically dark. When he showed up, he brought a friend with him, which we didn't even ask for.
We tried to be understanding, but things took a turn when the service worker mentioned that our AC needed a capacitor and the price tag came in at $550. What really threw us off was that part of this cost was due to his after-hours visit. It seemed like he was using this as an excuse to charge extra.
We don't usually question prices, but it was clear that the service worker had some attitude about being there. The issue with cultural biases is also something we noticed - and it made our interaction even more awkward.
When I pointed out that we'd already replaced another unit in a similar situation, the guy got defensive. He said we wanted something for free, which caught me off guard. When my husband asked if the $550 price included freon, he was told no - which is just ridiculous when you think about it.
The next day, my husband took matters into his own hands and went to Ace Hardware on Chicago Ave in Oak Park. He paid $30 for a capacitor and replaced it himself in under 4 minutes. It's clear that this company is not professional, and we're not even sure if they're licensed.
Looking at YouTube videos, you can see that changing a capacitor is not rocket science. For four minutes plus $15-$30, you can save yourself around $500 by doing it yourself. We'll definitely be taking our AC business elsewhere in the future.
