We called Jim Melka Landscaping for sod estimate. They actually called us and stated they didn't want to do the job. This is without even coming out or asking us when we needed it done. The women that called was extremely rude. Must be nice. We will no longer buy anything or use this business again. Very unprofessional. Had to give a star or it wouldn't let me post.

I made an appointment to have a designer come and do some landscaping for me and the designer completely forgot. It was supposed to be between 3:30 and 4 and at 4:30 I called and the designer was at the store and just did not remember or maybe a medium size job was not enough?? Very disappointing after reading great reviews.

Very polite and helpful staff . Ordered what I needed on Saturday and was delivered on schedule Monday morning . Highly recommend this business for your lawn , plant and landscape needs . Thanks to your wonderful staff !!!

We ordered 12 yards of premium bark hardwood mulch. It contained a lot of large pieces of dirt, rocks, pieces of concrete and large, rectangular pieces of wood, resembling plywood. We usually buy our bulk mulch from Area Landscaping. WE WILL NEVER BUY OUR BULK MULCH FROM MELKA!

Great staff. It was our 2nd time visiting. Great selection of trees shrubs and plants. Not much selection on herbs and veggies. But all else was available at comfortable prices

You will never work with nicer, more qualified people than Jim and his whole staff. I had them work on my house in OakBrook years ago and was so satisfied. Now they have helped me in Palos and they're better than ever. They show up when promised, do what was agreed upon and always have beautiful plants along with very FAIR prices!! Refreshing nowadays!!!

Everything is so well taken care of. A wide variety of something for everyone. And the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

We worked with Bryan in landscape design to help us with design for our new home. He was great to work with and knowledgeable with what would work best in our area. Very accommodating when I had an idea change or two. Pricing fair, installation professional, bushes and shrubs a good size and we're extremely satisfied with the end result.

Disclaimer: we've had the final landscaping for about 2 weeks at time of this review.

Just an all around excellent and super pleasant experience. From Bryan coming out to see what we had, to his design incorporating our wants/needs, to the communication throughout, the efficiency of the work, and all the way to the final product.

Everyone who walks by our house compliments the new landscaping and notes what a world of difference it has made from what we had before.

Great place, knowledgeable staff, good selection. Had to get a plant exchanged because it died and was under the 1 yr guarantee, had no issues. My go to garden center.

We used Melka years ago in Orland Park. Now we’re in New Lenox, and we remembered how pleased we were with them - so we bought trees and had them planted. Great price on the trees, and reasonably priced planting - what sets Melka apart, aside from the obvious high quality plants, is the customer service. Ongoing communication by text, constant effort to work around our availability, helpful and patient phone discussions, the planting crew was so efficient and patient with our questions (and when it was all done, they took the time to talk with us about future plantings). Even though we had a page of instructions to follow, we received a text explaining how we should water the new trees and thanking us for our business. This company does it right - they can do it all, but they treat even small jobs with the same care and expertise. Thank you, Melka!

Update: Just had another Blue Spruce planted yesterday (10/2). For the life of me, I don’t know why anyone would choose any company other than Melka for landscaping and nursery service. I should add that the customer reps inside the store and on the phone as well as the team working the grounds are wonderful - friendly, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Thank you, Melka!

Absolutely incredible employees! Very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and great to work with. I had a grill on order which was taking a long time to get in and they we on top of it every step of the way and got it for me sooner than expected. This place has it all! Flowers, Landscaping and a dedicated Weber Grill area. It really is a 1-stop shop for outdoor and patio!! Did I mention their prices great?

I could not recommended this place enough. They have an amazing selection that I haven't seen anywhere else (and I've been to a lot of garden centers). They also have a fantastic selection of trees and bushes, as large as 3.75" caliper, and also do delivery and planting for reasonable prices. They're also willing to call you when certain things come in, which is so nice if you're looking for specific trees or perennials or whatever. All of the staff I've deal with have been really nice and helpful. I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Hey lady in the gray sweatshirt that refunded my firewood purchase at 9:11 this morning. How about apologizing for not having enough staff to load wood instead of making the customer feel like they’re doing something wrong. You came up with a list of excuses, including you don’t open until 9am. Obviously I know that and that’s why I came in after 9. You need customer service training. You and the business would benefit.

Bought a Webber grill from them and was delivered today. They were very helpful and answered my questions with ease. They had it delivered in just a day.
The grill is awesome and works fantastic. Their nursery is amazing and they have great plants and knowledgeable staff.

Absolutely the rudest service I have ever encountered. They do not go through their bids and blanket costs in there that they are not willing to explain. When asked if you can get more detail and why they say no. Their designer is beyond rude. A ton of better companies that are more transparent and polite.
