Constraction reviews in Wheaton, Illinois

We used Adam and Derek to remodel almost our entire house over the course of six years (Kitchen and Family room, then full Basement and bath, then Master Bath and two other full bathrooms). They are worth every penny and more. These gentlemen are not only great at what they do (high quality work, great subs, responsive and never miss a deadline), they are are also some of the best people you will ever work with. My wife and I have the highest respect for Adam and Derek as craftsmen, businessmen and human beings. We can't recommend them highly enough.

It is always a time of anxiety when you decide to do any type of construction, remodeling or improvements to you home. You look for people who are professional, understanding, and, in our opinion, invested in your dream and vision of your project. My wife and I were very fortunate to find such people with De Groot Construction. Adam and Derrick helped us originally by designing and building a deck on the back of our house. The project was done beautifully and within the budget (which is always a positive!) We had such a good experience with De Groot, we decided to have them do a total redo of our kitchen, 1st floor floors, bathroom and bar area - We could not be happier with the way they worked with us and the quality of the finished product. We highly recommend De Groot Construction for any project you may have in mind.

De Groot Construction just completed a master bathroom remodel for us and my husband and I are very happy the end result. Not only do we like the end result, they made the whole process go smoothly and handled any issues that came up quickly and professionally. I also really appreciated the detailed estimate we were given at the beginning of the project so that there weren't any surprises throughout the process (and if there were changes at my request, it was made very clear and the estimate was updated). They gave us a daily schedule with what would be happening each day at the beginning of the project so we generally knew how the project would progress. Derek and Adam were quick to respond to emails and texts and cleaned up after themselves. They also are just all around nice guys who were easy to work with and I would definitely use them again for future projects on my house.

This was the best remodel experience I have ever had. Adam and Derek are both very easy to work with, gave great suggestions and were professional, attentive and talented. They have become good friends. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who wanted to have remodeling done. Nothing is too big or too small. They turned my mud room into a butler's pantry, remodeled my master bathroom and moved my washer and dryer up to the second floor. I LOVE everything that they did. I would give them as many stars as possible and would be happy to give a personal recommendation if anyone wanted it.

Over the course of a year and a half, we had the pleasure of working with DeGroot Construction on our new house build. From our initial meeting with them, to the ceremonial "handing over of our keys" upon the completion of the home, we were extremely satisfied with the entire process.

Constant communication, a clear scope of work, laser-focus on details and superb quality of work are just a few of the DeGroot team's outstanding traits. A project of our size automatically comes with some hiccups and issues (to no fault of DeGroot). Adam and his team truly had the perspective that these hiccups or issues weren't "problems," but situations that just needed to be solved thoughtfully and efficiently.

We are so grateful to DeGroot for their professionalism, thoughtfulness, high-end work and talent! We would be remiss if we didn't share just how KIND and FUN this team was, too... lots of laughs and humor involved which kept us all sane with completing a project of this size.

We recently had the pleasure of working with DeGroot Construction on a significant whole house remodel, and I can confidently say that their team delivered exceptional results. From start to finish, their work showcased a high level of craftsmanship, professionalism, and commitment to our detailed work plans.

The communication throughout the project was exceptional. Rob and the entire team at DeGroot were transparent, approachable, and proactive in keeping us informed. They provided regular updates, clearly outlining challenges that arose and discussing potential solutions. This level of transparency helped build trust, and we felt confident that our project was in capable hands.

They have an impressive ability to adapt to the specific needs of each client. Whether it’s a custom detailed ceiling design or a challenging project scope, their team is equipped to handle it with precision and care and coordinate efforts with architects, interior designers and the most proficient subcontractors.

What also stood out was their dedication to customer service. The DeGroot team went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was addressed, from initial consultations to final touches. They were always responsive, respectful of our time, and mindful of our needs.

Project Manager Rob – A Key Asset.
A particularly noteworthy aspect of our experience was working with Rob, our project manager. Rob’s knowledge of construction, coupled with his outstanding organizational skills, ensured that the project ran smoothly from start to finish. He was always on hand to address any concerns or questions, and his ability to provide clear, actionable updates made the process much easier to navigate.

By reading the many 5 star reviews left by others, DeGroot has earned a reputation for its reliability and professionalism, which was evident throughout the course of our project. They kept the worksite clean and organized, and maintained a high level of respect for our property. While many contractors can deliver quality work, DeGroot excels in building long-lasting relationships. Derek, Adam, Jeanne, and Rob are genuinely committed to ensuring that each project is a success, and their approach to communication, reliability, and professionalism reinforces this.

Overall, we couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience of working with DeGroot Construction. From their top-tier craftsmanship to their dedication to excellent customer service, this team sets a high standard for the industry. If you’re looking for a contractor who combines skill, reliability, and exceptional communication, I highly recommend DeGroot Construction. Whether you’re planning a small renovation or a large-scale construction project, you can trust that they will deliver outstanding results.

Over the years we have tried a handful of construction companies, and unfortunately we were never left feeling satisfied. Last year, we were introduced to De Groot Construction Co. and we were blown away with the professionalism and ease of working with Derek and Adam. They both are very knowledgeable, detail oriented, and patient and will execute exactly what you envision. Their quality of work is SUPERIOR! They have done a powder room remodel for me along with a host of home repairs. In the end, the care and enthusiasm Degroot has for their projects and clients is unmeasurable. Thank you Derek and Adam for always being a phone call away and so eager to always tackle our projects and questions!

Adam and his crew converted our horse stalls into mini aviaries with predator proofing and adding a window for the birds to look through. They also converted a previous chicken coop into a larger aviary by enclosing it, adding a double door entrance (for security), predator proofing, and adding Eze-Breeze windows for convenient opening and closing with the weather. Both buildings also got fresh concrete and epoxy sealant to make cleaning a breeze! I plan to use DeGroot Construction for future aviary projects!

We feel so grateful to have worked with De Groot Construction! Not only was their work top quality and masterful but they are an amazing team to have in your home.

De Groot remodeled our kitchen and master bathroom. They made the whole process as pain-free as possible. The team is up front with how much everything will cost, giving proposals and expense forms that explain everything that needs be done in an understandable and detailed manner. They worked hard to bring as little invasion into our lives as the process would allow by protecting the rest of the house from dust and damage.

Their contractors are trustworthy, efficient, and skilled. We had a great time designing the kitchen with Degroot and PB Kitchen Design. It turned out beautiful and is exactly what I had envisioned/hoped for.

All in all, there is no one else we want to work in our home. I cannot imagine having to go through a stressful remodel with any other company. Adam and Derek have become our go-to guys and trusted friends.

DeGroot far exceeded our expectations. They completed a new home for us in the spring of 2024. I recommend them without hesitation. Adam and Derek are honest, hardworking and extremely talented project managers and craftsmen. From start to finish their attention to detail, seamless process and attentive communication made a very complex project flow smoothly. The end result is a wonderful home our family will enjoy for generations.

I'd give DeGroot more stars if Google would let me. A friend recommended them as we'd purchased a house that needed some love and updates. Derek was exceptional from start to finish - from helping me hone the very extensive wish list, providing thoughtful suggestions to help make budget, adding to the project because I really needed that special feature, and going above and beyond in all aspects.

The scope included a hall bathroom remodel, a primary bathroom remodel, and a full fireplace gut. From beginning to end, I had full visibility into what was happening each day, who and what was coming tomorrow, and what decisions I needed to make by when to keep things moving.

Rob was the absolute best project manager; he became the guardian angel of the house. We ran into leaks, flooding due to a failed pump, an old water heater that finally gave out (all outside DeGroot's scope), and Rob went above and beyond to jump in and assist. DeGroot cares about their clients. A lot. Like having a trusted friend remodel your home. You can expect they will be honest, professional, detail-oriented, and above all, attentive.

Not to mention this was all done while we were living here, working from home, with a newborn and a toddler. Rob and crew were extremely diligent in protecting surfaces, minimizing dust, and reducing the construction footprint as much as possible for our family.

The quality of their work is impeccable, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second enlisting them for future projects, in this house and beyond. If you're looking for an amazing contractor, there's only one thing to do in a moment like this - strut...and call DeGroot. You will not regret it.

We seriously can’t say enough good things about the DeGroot team, from the quality of the work to the customer service and everything in between. We hired them for our kitchen remodel and could not be happier with our decision!! Would recommend them 10 times out of 10 to anyone we know and definitely plan to use them again for any project in our home! The owners, Derek and Adam, are genuinely the nicest people and go above and beyond, considering every detail, to ensure the best possible experience. We felt like they treated our home like it was their own and did everything they could along the way to make us feel at ease when taking on what was the largest project we’ve ever done. We were able to live in our house with an infant throughout the project because of how carefully they did the demo and sealed off the work area to fully contain the dust, protect our floors/furniture, etc. The rest of the DeGroot team was also incredible throughout the process—our project manager, Rob, and electrician, Tim, along with all of their subs were true craftsmen. They made things happen that we didn’t know were possible. We wanted to change the footprint of our kitchen slightly and ran into challenges with the wood floor beneath the old cabinets being a limitation because of the color difference. Instead of having to refinish the entire floor, their flooring guy was able to spot fix areas of floor so seamlessly that we can’t tell the difference even knowing exactly where they re-stained it. We also added on a small project at the end that we expected to require cutting into and patching some walls. Instead, their team found a way to get creative and got the job done without cutting any walls. It ended up saving them quite a bit of work and time, so they proactively reduced the cost without us asking. Degroot stands behind their work and is truly one of the best and most honest, thoughtful companies we’ve ever worked with; we would trust them with anything in our home! If you need a contractor for any project, big or small, hire them - you won’t regret it!!

Wow! The friendliness and professionalism I experienced while ordering a piece of custom cut Corian was refreshing! Will definitely be using Kitchen and Bath Authority in the future. Thank you Verlissa!

I placed an order in October and it still has not shipped and there has been no communication. When I placed the order it was an expected delivery time of two weeks.
