Juwan Sargent was our PM he was excellent and got the basement finished quickly and effectively. Managed trades in and out well and listened when we had requests and issues that arose were solved quickly. Brandon was our salesperson and also excellent we felt we knew all the options we had to work within our budget and are so pleased with the end result of our finished basement.

If you’re looking to finish your basement, CMH Builders is the only name you need to know in Indianapolis. From start (January) to finish (April) they were courteous and punctual and communicative with me the entire time. Every facet of my basement project was tackled by a specialized professional. From the framing, painting, flooring and bathroom install right on down to the AMAZING bar install and movie theater installation...100% professional. I was especially struck by the joviality of the guys while working. They enjoy their work and it shows! I really appreciated the personal attention along the way and especially as the project completion grew near, the owner of the company made many visits out to personally see that things were to my satisfaction and if not, immediately handled it for me. CMH even has a terrific designer on staff that held my hand through the decision-making process which really helped ease some of my anxiety. Seriously, from start to finish, a great experience.

We finished our basement with CMH and we are so happy! They walked us through every step of the process and gave us a time line in the very beginning. Our PM was very communicative and always told us what to expect. If something was off schedule, he always told us about it and the new expected time. Everyone was professional and friendly.

I very seldom write critical reviews, as I have worked in retail/customer service for 15 years and understand the challenges businesses face. However, after dealing with CMH last fall (2023), I found it in my best interest to inform prospective buyers about our experience.

The early stages of the process was ultimately the only reason the company earned the star that they did. The design meeting and presentation were great. You are given a virtual "tour" of the finished basement, fully furnished and everything. This gives you a good idea of what your space will look like. You are also able to make adjustments during this time as you see fit. Most building companies probably offer similar technology, but I enjoyed this.

The early stages of construction were smooth. Framing and plumbing went in as scheduled, but after that, things really fell apart in terms of both timeliness and quality of work. Each week you are sent a 'weekly schedule' from your project manager of planned work. After the first two weeks it was rare that the schedule was even remotely close to being followed. For example, we had a week where work was to be performed on 4 different days and we ended up having contractors in the house for 2 hours on 2 different days and that was it for the week. So basically 4 total hours of work for the week when we had anticipated 20-30 hours based on schedule presented to us. We had to proactively reach out to our project manager to inquire about the schedule, no communication or notice given as to the lack of work. I understand that things most likely get harder to coordinate with scheduling the further along you get, as it requires planning and assumes timeliness of steps before it to make sure everything aligns, but the total lack of communication was unacceptable.

I added photos of what some of the work looked like before our final walkthrough. The drywalling, specifically corners and where meeting the ceiling, was atrocious. Trim not sitting flush. Doors not sanded/painted. Even simple things such as door knobs being put on upside down. During the walkthrough we were voicing our concerns to the project manager, specifically stating that a lot of the areas look like "a crappy DIY job". His response, I kid you not, was "I think it looks pretty good". One would have thought the response would have been along the lines of "Let's see what we can do to address your concerns and fix any issues". It was really off-putting.

If you scroll through a lot of the positive reviews, you will see many of the reviews/ratings have been left by employees and/or their family members. I am sure they have done quality work for others, but that was not the case for us across the board for the project. If I elected to do a similar project in the future, CMH would not make the cut.

We just completed our basement project with CMH and from start to finish they were excellent to work with. They took the time to answer all of our questions and were very flexible with any of the change requests we made. The entire team (framers, drywall team, electricians, plumbing and painting) were all very professional with us as well as made sure to clean up at the end of each day. Our PM Nick Vazquez was very prompt with responses and when onsite walked through and addressed any questions we had. All around great experience with CMH and I would recommend them to anyone looking to have their basement done.

We used CMH to finish our unfinished basement. We had many different companies/contractors come out to bid on the job, and hands down CMH was the most professional and made the process easy from beginning to end. Every worker was friendly and professional. We had a wonderful experience and loved the finished basement. They make it so easy from picking everything out, decide on the design, and the communication. Our project manager, Juwan, was a delight to work with every step of the way! I can’t say enough good things about our experience.

This was an incredible experience! We recently moved into our house and the basement had never been touched. CMH came in and did a complete finishing of the basement and we couldn’t be happier! The communication from CMH during the entire process was fantastic and really stands out as something you don’t see from many contractors today. We felt their quote was very fair. They started the job when they said they would and ended up finishing a week ahead of their initial estimate. Whenever any potential issue or delay would come up, they would immediately communicate with us and let us know the plan. The only “delay” we ever experienced was because a certain material was on back order from the manufacturer and CMH gave us consistent updates until the part came in. They just finished the job earlier this week and we are so excited to start using the space. We could not recommend them more!

It’s been a couple years but man are we so happy we went with the CMH! From start to finish they were incredible communicators and created the dream basement for our family. Even got us where we wanted to be with budget. It was a fantastic experience, and we are happy every day we used CMH!

Everyone was super easy to work with. Loved how project turned out and they made the design process easy. Only item we weren't thrilled with was the quality of the flooring. Love the color of it, just super thin and would have spent extra on thicker/higher quality is all.
