Home Services reviews in Indianapolis, Indiana

I was doing my due diligence on a moving company for my up and coming move. I came here to see what others have said. As there is a mix - the way the owner responds to the people that have had bad experiences seems really unprofessional. I’m someone that has always supported veterans businesses my whole life due to having a military background myself. I will say that the responses are off putting. I take professional feedback over negative responses. Asking people to take down their review to make you look better seems a little ridiculous. I also read some Facebook reviews and saw a screenshot of you cursing at a client and name dropping to get your point across. Nobody cares who your family is or what power they may have. With all of this we will be going with someone else instead. I wanted to leave a comment to the owners to let them know - handle the bad reviews with more of a professional approach than a blaming one. It makes you and your company look worse.
Also idk if anyone has done a background check on the workers but before you hire this company do so. That is another reason we will not be going with this company. -
I was quoted a price and verbally confirmed$398 would be total. That was for 2 hours of manpower. The job took 1/2 hour to move an item less than 2 miles. I was then charged over $500. There were no extra services other than they used their blanket covered item during the move. The guys that did the move were friendly, effective and polite. HOWEVER beware when comparing prices- this ended up being more expensive than the other 3 moving companies I got quoted!!!

We have used 5 different moving companies over a 20 year period and this was the worse experience we have ever had. Office personal definitely don’t know how to estimate a move. Went thru move item by item. Move ended up being smaller than quoted by 2 rooms of furniture. But office personal tried to double our quote. Movers did wrap with furniture pads and shrink wrap… but they didn’t pack truck tight enough or strap things down. So we have a lot of damage to furniture from shifting during the drive. From breakage to knicks and chips. Definitely would think twice before you use this company.

1 star is generous!! Worst company...booked this move month's in advance and had numerous conversations over those months on the care I needed to ensure my items were protected and handled with care. They assured me they would be but unfortunately they were not! They demolished a 65 inch TV, had damaged to a chest and dresser which were all under 1 year old, plus damaged my home that I moved out of which is on the market. They advised me the owner would call me but he never did. They also advised me to file a claim which I did and they never responded with my multiple attempts via email and phone calls still no response. I have initiated Further action but I would stay away from this company it's very unfortunate companies operate with the lack of integrity and compassion for their customers. Very disappointed.

I will say the men were very nice and helpful for the circumstances that I was moving from the third floor of one apartment to another third floor apartment. But the company itself was not very organized, in my opinion. I was told the day prior that I was going to be the first ones to be moved, and be called by the manager herself, but never got a call. I pretty much had to wait three hours the next morning, on top of I myself had to call the company multiple times and speak with multiple people to see what was going on. No one had called me prior about times, when somebody was coming, nor who was in route, I pretty much had to shift my whole morning to wait for the movers to come. I will not go through them again unfortunately.

I honestly don't want to give any stars. First experience with this moving company was wonderful. Second experience has left me NEVER using their service again. On the day of my move, the movers were so late I had to put another moving company on standby at the last minute because I kept getting the run around as to the timeframe the movers would be there. I ended up moving a few of the things that were on the mover's list because they were taking so long. Also, because of their lateness and to speed up the process, my oldest son and I moved everything they were supposed to move to the front door to make it easier for the movers. After they FINALLY arrived, they were extremely unprofessional. I had to ask them what their names were (not them introduce themselves) and they didn't have on identifying clothing. After the move, their process is the movers call into the office and the customer makes final payment over the phone. This all was done. I moved first week of May. Fast forward to present date (July 16, 2025), I got a notice from my bank that my card had been ran for over $200 and it was this moving company (Elite) that ran my card....two months after I had already moved and paid. I called and they proceed to tell me that they didn't charge the 3 minimum hours but instead they charged 2 hours, although the entire move was done in under 1 hour. They advised me that their system is set up to periodically go through all the accounts and find balances due and then automatically run the card. What kind of illegal practice is this? First off, keeping my card information on file 2 months after I had moved and paid a final bill (I have my receipt) is unacceptable. On top of that, I wasn't given any notice of this, they just ran my card and took my money. First off it is not my problem if you only charged 2 hours. That does not give you the right to keep my card info and then 2 months later charge an additional hour without my knowledge. That is called fraud and that is shady as all get out. I can't and will not do business with practices like this. I have two future moves coming up and Elite will definitely not be who I choose. They tried to advise that they would refund $100 of my money. That's not acceptable as you taking money without my knowledge made my current rent payment late as they dipped into my rent money by running by card. To date, I still do not have my money and being a paralegal and working for a civil and criminal attorney, I am going to let them handle it because at this point I want all my money back. Whose to say they don't still have my card information on file. Absolutely never again!!!!

SCAMMERS !!! THEY ATE MY 103$. I called and cancelled my move way before the moving date and called them 10 times. The owner Melenie called and never refunded my deposit of 103$. Don't go with them they are horrible. I would not give them even 1 star.

Elite Affordable Movers helped me move from Evansville to Fort Wayne, and they were fantastic—professional, efficient, and kind. They handled multiple stops, offered fair pricing, and ensured everything arrived safely with no damage. I’m so grateful for their help during this move!
-
We scheduled our move and was told they would be there at 930am and they were 4 hours late. I assume management who set the move up forgot it was a morning move given we weren't offered any discounts and wasn't put into the system until the day beford. Once the movers got there, they were great and professional.

UPDATE!!!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! My wife and I have moved with MANY companies over the years due to my profession(aviation). This has been by far, THE WORST!
Booking was easy, however, thats where it ends.
Moving out went relatively uneventful(unbeknownst to us).
Moving in(and aftermath) was a total disaster. Our move was more simplified in that we needed nothing placed or assembled due to a subsequent painting crew coming in. All property was set in the middle of a designated room and immediately placed under plastic to not take paint damage. During the unloading process we were informed that our entertainment center took damage to the corners. As previously stated I have moved many times over the years and accepted this as “dead loss” due to a bit of damage to property and it didn't appear to be intentional. 3 hours after the move and “final” billing we received a call stating that they had messed up and we owed another $300+ . Overall the final bill came in about $500 more then the initial quote.
2 days later after the paint crew was finished(and to our surprise), we discovered they placed moving tape directly on all of our furniture. Our entire bedroom suite was destroyed including one of our sons dressers as well.
Melanie(our POC) was informed immediately and initially appeared to be concerned. This is not the case as we have now placed MANY calls, texts, and emails to both Josh and Melanie and they have resulted in nothing but complete silent treatment. We are out $4000 of furniture and they will not respond at all!!!! To quote Melanie “we don’t let customers fall through the cracks”.
YES YOU DO.
We are now left with no choice besides to pursue things through the legal system….STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES
UPDATE!!!!
“Owner” is claiming that blankets were refused. This is an absolute LIE and the ONLY communication received from this dump since we paid them $2000 to destroy our property. In fact, we offered 12 of our own moving blankets(additional) if needed(pictures to prove). NO SETTLEMENT OR PROPOSAL WAS OFFERED IN ANY WAY/SHAPE/FORM. The ONLY communication from Elite(HAHA) affordable movers since our move has been damage control(no pun intended) on social media or reviews like this. No opinions here…just PROVABLE FACTS!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!! -
This was a nightmare. I have moved several times and have never experienced this. The movers were fighting one another they unloaded and left our stuff in the garage. We don’t even have a bed to sleep in as they did not take the beds upstairs or put them together. We tried calling the company no answer or response. Damaged walls and our furniture

Terrible experience. I've never worked with a more dishonest company in my life.
First, I was quoted around $2400 (paid a different company $800 for the same move only 6 months prior). When I said I would call around for other quotes, the person I spoke to kept trying to bargain with me if I would book with them that day and kept offering lower prices. They said they could do it for $1475, so I booked with them and paid $675 deposit.
Movers kept commenting on how easy the move would be because of how little I had (no big furniture or anything like that) and how they could have even brought smaller truck. Movers did a good job (other than breaking the tv, which I will get to).
At the end of the day, I had to pay $1109. ($1109 + $675=$1784, which is $309 over what they originally said).
When I called, they said that this is because they used "extra super heavy duty" tv boxes for my tvs, which I never asked for, and tv boxes were included in my original quote...I saw these "extra super heavy duty" boxes and it was just a dirty blanket. They said this price discrepancy is an issue in communication between front of house and back of house and they are "sorry for the confusion." I wasn't confused, they just lied.
Also, they broke my tv so I paid for these boxes for nothing apparently. For the 55" tv they broke, they refunded me $22.80.
What a joke. And it took 2 months and multiple follow-up emails for me to even be in touch with someone about this. Save yourself lots of money and headaches and book with literally ANY other moving company. -
There are not enough stars ⭐️ to give for this company! I would let them move me to kingdom come and back as they are awesome! I said the first day I met Josh that God sent me him to me! As I have a friend with two homes that was moving from upper Indiana to Indy and from Florida back here to Indy! Can’t thank Josh and Nick enough for such an awesome job, well done! Thank you for all your excellent help! Also everything was great and nothing broken or even scratched!!! ❤️

We have never felt compelled to write a negative review in our lives, but here we are. If sharing our experience saves even one person from facing similar heartache and financial loss, this will have been worth it. We hired Elite Affordable Movers for moving and storage in late 2025 and it was disastrous, costing us thousands of dollars in destroyed, damaged, or lost belongings – some of which were irreplaceable heirlooms. Their crew’s careless disregard for our belongings was staggering. They appeared inexperienced, inadequately trained, and poorly supervised. Mirrors, paintings in glass frames, antique lamps shattered into pieces. Valuable or antique furniture was gouged, scratched, or had pieces broken off and lost. Several pieces of heavy, well-made, expensive furniture were crushed beyond repair. The owners have since ghosted us rather than pay our claims, which we filed according to their instructions. We tried dozens of times over the past months to contact them. We left text messages, voicemail messages, emails, messages with their answering service, mailed letters -- and received no response. Regardless of any seemingly genuine reply Elite Affordable might post to this review, words are cheap. And even if they do eventually pay the pittance they owe per the contract, it could never approach the scale of the damage they caused.

A client of mine hired Elite movers, and ran into some delays due to closing dates changing. We worked together to get everything resolved and I’m happy to report we closed and everything was delivered promptly! I definitely recommend this company as the owner was very diligent in communicating each step up to and including the resolution. Great job!

To be completely honest, I’m not sure where to begin. I don’t typically complain, and I’d like to think I’m a pretty easygoing person. When I first reached out to Elite Affordable Movers, I was excited and reassured multiple times that the process would be completely stress-free. My fiancé and I had just purchased our first home and worked countless overtime shifts so that we could afford the luxury of hiring movers.
I was quoted 4–5 hours at most, with an estimated cost of around $1,200 ($300 more with TV boxes). On the phone, I was even told several times that the move would likely only take 3 hours. No one ever came to do a walk-through, simply asked me to provide an inventory of every room. Based on that information, I was told three movers and about three to four hours (five at the very most) would be more than adequate.
On moving day, the team arrived around 9:30 a.m., but instead of three movers, there was only two the first hour or so. All of my belongings were already boxed and ready; only the furniture needed disassembly, which I had been assured was included in the service. Still, it took them four hours just to load the truck.
During this time, they damaged my wall while moving the couch, hitting the wall so hard that the drywall bowed out. I’ve since been quoted about $500 to fix it. The hallway was wide enough that this should never have happened. At the other house, things only got worse. The movers frequently took breaks, carried small items one by one, and dragged a wooden entry table with wooden legs across my brand-new floors despite being asked to pick it up instead. Several holes were put into the walls of our brand-new built house within a short time.
At this point, my family stepped in to help. My parents, fiancé, his family, and friends ended up moving most of the heavy furniture upstairs and even assembling both beds ourselves—services that were supposed to be included in the price. By the end, multiple pieces of my furniture were damaged, and I had holes in my walls that should not exist in a brand-new home.
When I reached out to the owner, I was told “these things happen.” While they were apologetic and offered a $150 discount for going over six hours—even though I was assured the move would take no more than five—the response felt dismissive. I understand that accidents happen, but the level of damage and lack of professionalism we experienced is unacceptable.
My fiancé and I worked hard to afford this service specifically so we wouldn’t have to rely on family for the heavy lifting. Instead, my family ended up doing most of the move even with movers present, and I was still charged $1,500—the same as my original quote. If the service had been handled professionally, I would have had no issue paying. But what I received wasn’t even worth $500.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Elite Affordable Movers. What should have been an exciting day turned into one of the most stressful experiences of my life, and now I’ll have to work extra just to replace and repair the damage they caused.
Update:
While unpacking today, I discovered multiple broken items despite the extra precautions we took. We carefully wrapped our dishes in several layers of Styrofoam wrap, yet I have now lost three bowls, three antique glass bowls, and a full set of ceramic kitchen container holders. I am extremely disheartened and upset. I understand that occasional breakage can happen during a move, but given the clear labeling of boxes and the special protective materials we purchased to safeguard these items, this level of damage feels unacceptable. On top of the other damage already acquired, I will now have to purchase new bowls to replace what was broken. Sadly, some of these items are irreplaceable, as they belonged to my late grandmother. This makes the loss especially difficult and deeply upsetting. -
Unmatched Care & Expertise!
Moving is such a daunting task, I always end up feeling like it is so overwhelming to say that least, but Joshua and Melanie at Elite Affordable Movers turned it into an experience defined by precision, professionalism, and genuine care. From our first conversation to the final item being placed exactly where I needed it, they were attentive, responsive, and meticulous in every detail.
They took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, never rushing the process or making me feel like just another customer. Their commitment to getting everything right was evident—not just in the big tasks like packing and disassembling large furniture but in the smaller, thoughtful touches that made a real difference. They ensured that no walls were scuffed, that every piece of furniture was reassembled perfectly, and that my belongings were handled with the utmost respect.
