We’ve had Ankeny Sanitation since living in Ankeny, and have always been pleased with the service. They’re timely, and we have no negative things to say. I am SO appreciative that the drivers always wave enthusiastically to my little ones that love watching the trash trucks go by. Thank you to the employees that care enough to do that!

Mowed the lawn yesterday (Wednesday) and didn't want to wait for a week to have my yard waste bags picked up. So, loaded them in the back of the SUV and off I went to ASI on South Delaware. Nice receptionist directed me around the side of the building where I dropped off my yard waste. She pulled up my account, charged me a small fee and off I went. Very efficient process, and I was pleased with the service.

Coming from a household where one of used to be a garage guy (my husband), it seemed fitting & mature to call in and express our troubles with our garbage can constantly being left in the middle of our driveway. However, the response we received was far from mature, as we were laughed at over the phone when sharing our concern and the very next garbage day, our can was left knocked over on the ground. Needless to say we have canceled our services and will not recommend them to anyone!

***Edit*** Someone did call me eventually, and she was very nice and arranged for the appliances to be specially picked up right away.

I called to have two appliances picked up and paid $70. They told me to have them on the curb 7am Thursday morning. When they weren’t picked up Thursday I thought maybe they got the day wrong and would come on my regular day, Friday. When they didn’t come on Friday I figured I should call but they won’t be open till Monday, unfortunately I am selling my house on Monday, and the HOA is already mad about these appliances on the curb and it’s embarrassing. $70 is too much for me to also have to call them more than once to get them to do their jobs. If a dentist can keep an appointment for a specific time they ought to be able to at least get within 48 hours.

They never came! Nobody knows why! You only have on job to do and if you can’t do it then find someone figure it out for you! Come on! Do better idk if this review worked they did finally come. They come on Tuesday so

Lived in Ankeny 16 years and have enjoyed the relationship that I've had with Ankeny Sanitation. There has never been an issue with my trash! When I've called and had questions, I've always been greeted and helped by a friendly and courteous person. Just recently, I took larger items there to dispose and both times, by Penny and Deb, they were so helpful, courteous, kind and genuinely acted liked they were more than willing to help me!! Our bill keeps going up and so do the number of phone calls we have to make to them because our garbage or yard waste is forgotten/skipped/not picked up. I Called to cancel service and they will not reimburse me for the yard waste I’ve already paid in full for the year nor will they finish out the year. They used to be a great company but it seems they no longer care for their customers no matter how long you have been with them. We used to have amazing drivers in our neighborhood but it’s gone way down hill. Some of the drivers in the last couple years are very inappropriate- cussing and yelling when one of our neighbors parked too close to the containers and then just skipping our house.. coding it as it wasn’t out yet even though we caught it on our ring camera. yelling at us when we had extra trash outside of our bin and he didn’t want to get out of the truck calling us obscene names and then “accidentally” coding it that I had 20 bags of trash outside of my bin when it really was 2 so we were overcharged $300 on our auto payment and had to wait for a paper refund check from them to get our money back. They have really gone down hill. Every time we speak to a customer service representative they try to make excuses for the behavior and never try to make it right.

I am a long time residential and commercial customer of Ankeny Sanitation. The drivers and office staff are always attentive, friendly and timely at a fair price. I highly recommend Ankeny Sanitation for all your disposal needs!
