Home Services reviews in West Des Moines, Iowa

The gal that assisted us was very rude and never did give me a straight answer as to how to do the task at hand. Simple question about what kind of soil I needed. Just told me how I wouldn't be successful with my project! Was appalled!!!!

The store had what I was looking for but I had to find it myself. The clerk told me they didn't have what I was looking for but they did have a similar product. She showed me where that product was located. After she left I found what I was looking for in the same area.

CRAZY expensive. A tiny Itty bitty plants was $20 and a medium size plant was $60! I was very sad.
Go on marketplace, ppl grow their plants and sell them for half this price. -
Very helpful, knowledgeable, & friendly staff. Reasonable prices & quality products! Fall decorating when we got home from our trip!

I've always like this Earl May location for the variety of outdoor fountains, pots & fun stuff. Plants weren't really in yet but it's still early in the season.

Bought what was marked as Roma tomato. As they grew they obviously were not. Took them back and one lady insisted they were Romas. Her supervisor came over and agreed they were not romas. But she said they come marked and she had no control over it and walked off. Won't be buying there again.

Professional advice, quality products. Great selection of plants.

Earl May isn't on Merle Hay and I feel like thats a huge missed opportunity. Regardless they have plants and over priced gardening tools. So its nice.

I was there to buy some products for my fruit trees. It was early in the morning and there were plenty of people available to help and they were very friendly. Prices were reasonable.

Needed products for my weed and grasshopper problems. Higher prices than my budget likes but great place for problem solving. Very knowledgeable and helpful employees.

Amazing experience before, during and after the purchase of a tree. Best customer service I've seen anywhere in a very long time! I would highly recommend this location to anyone from anywhere around the metro area.

One of the best garden centers around - the staff at this location are really nice and know their stuff. The quality of the product they carry is always amazing and justifies the slightly higher price that the big box stores.

This place is smaller in size, but they have most of everything I look for. Friendly staff that's actually helpful. They even have a small section for non traditional hydroponic gardening; including some options for indoor gardening as well. Stop in, you won't be sorry.

Super helpful staff. Went there to get a new pot for a palm tree. Megan explained to me palms love a crowded pot. Ended up walking out with a different plant and happy daughter thanks to complimentary popcorn.

Not happy. Visited several times and always the same. Noone ever asks you if you need assistance or help. They walk right past and you see them chatting with their workers. I have decided to not go there any more. Not courteous but I certain they will not miss my business.

Not a good experience this year with your cucumber and green beans seeds. Only 2 cucumber seed plants came up earlier so I immediately went and bought seeds elsewhere and growing great. Green bean seeds plants grew great but not a bloom or green bean so tonight I ripped up 3 rows of them!! Will be purchasing elsewhere next year

I’ve never been treated so poorly. I very casually mentioned to the cashier how the manager rang up clearance items at another store. An employee named Sue came over & pointed her finger at me, growled & glared, “I don’t care how other stores do it, this is how we do it!” I’ve never dealt with such an angry, abrasive “customer service” member. She left & came back & stood behind her coworker’s shoulder. With so many retail options, I doubt I’ll be returning just because of this experience.

Took senior grand daughter and 2 of her friends who were visiting on spring break. Product selection was fabulous. Staff could have been a little more helpful and informative but all in all a good visit. Thank you.

Bought a memory stone and they had a nice selection. Prices were decent.

My wife and I stopped in to browse for ideas and maybe bring some plants home. We ran into Megan who was the greatest of help. Megan went well above and beyond what she needed to and kept our 7yr old occupied with the Sensitive plant, popcorn and doughnuts.
Earl May then delivered the large flowers and pots by van and the two guys who delivered them were just as nice and helpful. Thank you for the great experience.

I agree with other reviewers, basic customer service skills is what the staff at this location lacks. They don't know the product they sell, when I asked a question about the difference between two plants, they just said to read the label. Overall, just rude and agitated responses in general instead of looking for ways to assist or find the answers from the manager.
