Shack Built helped us finish our basement. They were collaborative during the design process and transparent on potential change orders. They were easy to work with and produced a quality product that we were very happy with.

We contacted Derick Shackleford at Shack Built in September of 2018 to request a plan and quote to finish our basement. From that moment on, he and his team’s work, communication, and timeliness far exceeded our expectations and we couldn’t more highly recommend them with a Five-Star rating.

All around Derick, Brett, and their team were a pleasure to work with on our basement project. We finished around 1,000 SF of space. The quality of workmanship was extremely high and even when there were issues, which were inevitable on a project of this size and complexity, Derick and Brett never stopped problem solving and working to meet our expectations. From proposal through completion, the process was well orchestrated by their production manager, Brett Schubert. In addition, the overall construction team and subcontractors - framing, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, finishing, (walls, paint, trim, doors etc.), cabinets, and counter tops were all excellent.

Most importantly, it is evident that two-way communication is highly valued by Derick and Brett and they know that it is necessary in order to make the process as enjoyable as possible. They are also open to feedback and recommendations related to how to improve the process. They were respectful of our home when entering and exiting each day and they kept the work space as clean as possible. Examples include having a dumpster and porta-potty on site and placing paper protection on the floors. They even paid for a full house cleaning after the project was complete!!! Shack Built kept on schedule throughout the project and we passed every building inspection on the first pass. We recommend the team at Shack Built to anyone, and not just for basement finishes. They also completed work on our dining room and stairwell.

We have used Shackbuilt for a few projects to date (Bathroom x2, Patio x2) Derick takes pride in the work he and his team produce at the end of the day. As with any project, there is always risk of something unexpected and the team helped us navigate those situations making sure things were managed the best they could be for the circumstances.

Almost whole home remodel, happy with the results. More importantly, my review is of the people. You see what people are made of when faced with difficult situations. My project had some significant challenges. The owner Derick and I had tough conversations and we worked through the challenges together. Derick is honest, fair, and follows through. He surrounds himself with the same quality of people - his employees and trades.

I engaged Derick to replace our aging deck with a new version of the same footprint. Being new to working with contractors and major house projects, I had several meetings with Derick to discuss all the details of the project and plan out the specifics. My goal was to avoid costly changes/issues later in the project. As all good plans go, there were issues that came up. Derick respondedly quickly and professionally to ALL of my concerns as they came up. His attitude was one of "let's work this out" rather than "that will be an expensive change, do you really want it." Derick's calm demeanor helped reduce the stress for us and kept his team moving in the right direction. All of my puch list items were taken care of and the deck looks beautiful. After a year of living with the deck, it still meets my expectations. Derick has even followed up a couple of times to make sure things were good and no touch-ups were required. Overall, a great experience with Derick and his team.

We used ShackBuilt to help design and remodel our master bathroom. Everyone at ShackBuilt was professional, responsible, caring, and communicative. Derick met with my wife and me multiple times and had multiple, lengthy conversations on the phone to help us make our choices for the bathroom. Everyone was extremely fast to answer our questions and everyone that came to work in our house was extremely respectful. Every evening the Matt made sure to make the place as clean as it was when he got there and never left anything out of place.

I cannot say enough about how knowledgeable and friendly Derick, Marty, and Matt were throughout the entire process. Additionally, multiple times I sent emails to Sarah to ask questions about products and pricing from some of their other projects and she got back to me incredibly quickly and got me exactly what I needed. I would absolutely let them in my house again for another project.

Shack Built was brought in to finish our garage, make our attic accessible, replace and install windows and doors and they did a fantastic job. Felt the proj manager was in constant contact with us and explained why a door was delayed at the manufacturer. I would highly recommend them for any project big or small.

Shack Built has done several projects for us, and we have been extremely happy with the results. Derick provides quality work at an affordable price. He carefully inspects the work done by sub-contractors and requires touch-ups and corrections if needed. He stands by his work, if there is ever a problem after the fact.

Derick was VERY professional and punctual with all the meetings that we scheduled before our remodeling project. When I finally met with Brett, the lead on our project, I knew that we were going to get along GREAT! We were more like brother and sister than working partners. We clicked and got along great! The contractors did a good job and Shackbuilt followed up on their work. If there were any hiccups (which there always are) they were corrected RIGHT AWAY and without any problems! GREAT JOB GUYS! We are very pleased with our bathroom remodel.

We recently used Shack Built for bathroom and laundry room remodels. We started the process with architect drawings, design meetings and finally construction. Our home was built in 1935, the team knew how to handle any situation which arose due to older home construction. They were professional, clean and timely. Marty our contract manager was available everyday to answer questions and manage his team. Our finished product is beautiful and I would not hesitate to recommend Shack Built and hope to use them again in the future.

We worked with the team at ShackBuilt to renovate the existing laundry room to accommodate a shower to help my parents "age in place." Derick was very detailed and great on following up with us on many details. He made great recommendations for materials that were more cost effective. I've worked with many contractors over the years and you'll not find a more reliable and honest team!

We had a major remodel done on our house that included a small addition, full kitchen remodel and expansion, half bath as well as a patio and sun porch and Derick and his team at did an amazing job. The job was fairly complex and presented some unique challenges, including material shortages, weather, as well as the normal difficulties of tying an addition into an older house; Marty, James and Cara, as well as the subs, rolled with the punches and delivered a series of spaces that we not only love but look like they had always been there. Like any major remodel, some problems cropped up along the way - they were dealt with quickly with lots of communication and always to our satisfaction.

I am in the trades and know many contractors in the metro either by reputation or I have personally worked with them. When it came time to select a contractor to work on our own home, ShackBuilt was our only choice...period.

Shack Built did an amazing job with transforming our backyard space. They worked closely with us throughout the design process as we replaced a wood deck with a concrete patio. They came up with several ideas for the space, while addressing long standing foundation issues. Derick and his staff were always responsive and professional. They communicated with us throughout the process, while working through supply chain issues.

The quality, professionalism, and responsiveness of Derick and his team before/during/after our full kitchen remodel exceeded our expectations over and over again. We knew going in that this big of a project would have some hiccups (especially during the pandemic), but the few that we encountered were quickly communicated to us and resolved. From the moment I contacted Derick to talk about renovating and adding on to our house he was very communicative and straightforward. Derick was able to put a team together to develop plans that met our wants/needs as well as fit our budget.

Minor issues that were discovered upon demolition were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. The crew that completed our project was very professional and left the construction area clean and debris free at the end of each day and at the end of the project. Our first project w/ Shack Built was a deck remodel. We met with Derick and he listened to our ideas and our price range and shared some ideas of his own and together with his team put together a great outdoor living space for our family.
