Mr. Sparky is crazy on pricing - the whole chain, not just this location. I needed simple repairs and they gave me an estimate for my house of a good, better, best that ranged from 7k-20k in repairs or upgrades. My repairs that were actually needed ended up only costing about 1200 in total.

My repair man was nice but when he called in his supervisor that's when we got the arm twisting into a loan. It was so fast. We didn't have any power, it was 10° in the middle of the night. We found out that what they charged us over $7000 for, we would have paid $1400 for with a local licensed electrician.

TLDR: They over charge and try to scam people.

I hired Mister Sparky to address a failed 200-amp main breaker. Their sales rep told me that replacing the main breaker was “impossible” and that I had to replace the entire panel. He said the breaker was no longer manufactured and that there were no retrofit options available to replace it with and that I’d have to get a used one on eBay, but that would be a guaranteed fire hazard. I asked multiple times if it could be replaced or not and he said definitely not.

Then I was then given a three-tier quote, with the top option coming in around $20,000 (for a whole bunch of random work I didn’t ask for!!!!) and two lower options that were still relatively expensive. During the sales pitch, the rep used aggressive scare tactics, including implying that my house could burn down if I didn’t move forward and that I had numerous code violations (not true).

I opted for the lower tier option for a full panel replacement, ground rod installation, surge protector in panel and a few other things for about $6K.

During the work I started to second guess what just happened, because of their aggressive sales techniques. At the end of the actual work, I talked to the technician (who wasn’t the sales person who gave me the quote) and asked him to explain again why I needed a full panel replacement so I could understand it better. I got cagey answers, so I looked it up and independently confirmed that a manufacturer-listed replacement main breaker DOES IN FACT EXIST for my exact panel model. Home Depot sells it for less than $200!!!! At that point, I had the technician call their office on speakerphone so I could complain because I got LIED TO and severely uncharged for work I did not need.

I explained to the office what happened and they acted like I fabricated everything and was trying to swindle them. They said they record audio during visits (which they didn’t ever tell me when they came in my house!!!). I said, “Great, send me a copy of that recording!!” because I knew I was right. Their tone immediately changed. I was then told they would review the audio to confirm whether what I was saying happened, or whether I was lying.

The technician went into the service van to listen to the recording with the office rep. About 10 minutes later, the technician came back inside with the office on speaker phone. They confirmed that what I said was accurate, acknowledged the issue, and offered 50% off.

While I appreciate that they ultimately acknowledged what happened, this experience completely eroded my trust. A homeowner should not have to independently fact-check a licensed electrician, invoke recorded audio, and escalate to get honesty about available options, especially when the difference is thousands of dollars.

The work was completed, but the misrepresentation, aggressive sales tactics, and lack of transparency mean I will never use Mister Sparky again. I strongly recommend other homeowners get second opinions and ask very direct questions before authorizing major electrical work.

To wrap things up, I am still in disbelief that I had an issue with a $200 part and their first quote was for $20,000. Insanity!

Lesson learned: (1) always get quotes from multiple contractors, (2) trust your gut, (3) complain when you get lied to, cause that was basically fraud on their part.

I've used Jason's company several times and they always respond promptly, show up on-time and do great work! Very nice staff! They're not necessarily cheap but they are fair. They also give you the price up front before beginning the work so you know what to expect. I firmly believe you get what you pay for in this world and electricity is not a place to go cheap!

I had a great experience with John from Jason Wright Electric this week. Yes they do charge money to have a professional certified electrician diagnose the safety and security of your panels, breakers outlets, etc. (I don't know why Patrick C. thinks that's odd/disrespectful that a business charges money?...) I was having issues with some outlets not working and occasionally getting shocked in my bathroom. From the very beginning John was very upfront with setting expectations, he performed the electrical inspection, and also gave me a price to fix my electrical problems. I selected the option I thought was best and he was able to do all of the work that afternoon. My outlets work and nobody gets shocked in the bathroom anymore! Very happy with the service, John was professional, very courteous, I'd use JWE again and recommend as well!

John from Jason Wright Electric was a pleasure to work with! We had two new outlets installed for mounting TVs on the wall. He did his work quickly, cleaned up, and showed me the work he had done. He was able to provide multiple options for the work I wanted done. I will be having them back to do more work for me and will continue to me a customer of Jason Wright Electric!

They were professional from start to finish. Jennifer was incredibly polite and helpful in getting everything scheduled and communicating with me and John was super knowledgeable and did a great job with all my projects. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Very professional. John went above and beyond to make sure he answered all our questions and addressed any concerns. Scheduling worked with us to get us in asap despite being extremely booked for the week with the corona ban eased. Everyone was fantastic and surprising the cost was economical. I would have thought for the 5 star service we were getting there would be a five star cost but the cost was reasonable, will definitely call this company in the future when we need any work done.

We have used the Jason Wright folks for a little over three years. From the office staff to the electricians, these guys are the best: friendly, professional, and dependable. We highly recommend them. They are our "go to" for electrical needs. We particularly appreciate JP and hope that he can continue to do work for us.

From installing an electrical outlet 24 foot off the floor using an almost non-existent attic connection to the fan, light and additional outlet and switch installations, these guys were TERRIFIC. We had three estimates. One free estimate was really questionable as there was no comprehensive written job description and I am sure it would have ended up costing us more. One free estimate , was so busy they couldn't get back to us within 5 days and involved a lot of wall damage options. Finally there was the $49 estimate from Jason Wright. The estimate included a full examination of our electrical system along with recommendations and explanations. A very detailed walk thru of the project and items that were to be completed IN PRIORITY order. A reasonable price for the 6 + hours of work. John and assistant were excellent. When they were done with the work everything was just as we required and there was absolutely no evidence they were even in our home -- except for the new and exciting lighting. These guys are great!

First, thank you Jennifer for your courteousnes at scheduling these needed repairs. We had a unknown short in an extended portion of circuitry that would throw the circuit breaker to a portion of home once the outside lighting switch was turned on. We were fortunate to move up on schedule by being patient on the waiting list. Also had one additional exterior outlet that needed to be upgraded to GFI on side of house. Alex listened to my troubleshooting explanation of issues, evaluated house main power circuit box, and sequentially diagnosed outlets/switch/wiring. He provided detailed optional work scopes to choose from prior to any commencement of physical activities. Alex was friendly, trustworthy, carefully instructional to Code related issues; and professional in his approach to detailing the manner of final repairs. I've tended to be my own DIY handyman when it comes to cost considerations, but there practically comes a time for essential servicing of troublesome electrical issues that one needs to rely upon the professionals. Problems resolved- thank you for your timeliness and thoughtful recommendations. I know who I will call for any repeat electrical work. Take care.

Jason Wright Electric is very punctual, considerate, and professional. After my consult with John, I knew what services would be performed and the total cost. I have used Jason Wright for 3 different projects in 3 different houses. Each time they have done an outstanding job, sending polite, professional electricians. The people who answer their phones provide customer service that is on a high level you just don't encounter often. Jennifer remembers details about me from call to call (even though those calls may be a few years apart) and is a joy to speak with! Most recently, I called with a little SOS because my A/V guy needed a different kind of plug than what I had them install. I called at 4pm one day and they sent Brandon at 7:30 the next morning to get it switched before the A/V guy and Google Fiber arrived. Even though I didn't tell him I needed this certain kind of plug when he did the initial installation, they didn't even charge me for sending him a second time to switch out the plug.
