Great place for plants, gifts and all things for garden! People who works here are very knowledgeable and will help educate you about garden and what to do with insect. On top of that, you can buy coffee or tea here and walk around while enjoy looking at plants :)

I bought a plant here but need to exchange to something else and they made it easy with receipts within two weeks.

I always love visiting Family Tree! They have such a great selection and really cute home decor! This last visit we came for some plants and bushes to help fill in our landscaping and Amber was super helpful and knowledgeable!

I am a plant lover. I have tons of houseplants and always go crazy with my outdoor gardening each year. I recently moved to KC and had this nursery recommended to me. To say I was impressed is an understatement! This place is my wonderland! The plants are all amazing quality and there are tons of beautiful pots to choose from. I also did not feel like I broke the bank, especially considering the quality. I will be back this summer and every year we are in KC!

I've spent thousands of dollars on hundreds of houseplants (most from Family Tree) and many hours enjoying the charming greenhouse, but I would not recommend anyone purchase tropical plants here because there are quality control issues you would normally only expect from box stores. I've been visiting frequently for the past four years and the past two seasons (2025 & 2026) the greenhouse has been consistently infested by Thrips--an invasive greenhouse pest notorious for their difficulty to expel and their ability to damage plant populations. In the greenhouse most plant sections contain obvious damage from these infestations and many times I can quickly spot live adult Thrips (they're small and difficult to spot). Based on the severity of the infestations it's likely that many visitors have unwittingly introduced these pests into their own home and may not understand they're the cause for their struggling plants. At best it's negligent greenhouse care and at worst it's unethical to sell infested plants. I hope next season they are more attentive to the health of the greenhouse and can keep the pests under control like they used to.

Absolutely excellent in everyway! Top notch customer service, beautiful trees, stunning indoor and outdoor plants and everything you would need, and then some, to create an oasis at your home! You can even grab a delicious Coffee Drink while roaming! I can’t imagine shopping anywhere else but Family Tree Nursery!

I have been coming here for years and always had great experiences. I come here for the plants and the environment. It’s a great place to hang out or catch up with a friend.

Today I went to help my sister find some plants for her new place, and we have little planting experience / knowledge. We told Dee (hopefully I spelled that right) about our situation and asked for the best advice. At any other company or store, we might receive some good information and lucky to get exactly what we needed. Dee did 100 times more than any of that. He explained everything from what soil we needed to what direction the sun would come from. Never felt like he was trying to slip away or give quick answers to get back to something else. He was so passionate about it that everything was answered way better than we could’ve ever gotten elsewhere. He remained very professional the whole time and never made us feel less than him. After a while of him taking us to get the supplies we needed across sections of the store, he brought us to Kylie. (Hopefully spelled that right too)

Kylie helped us find the outdoor plants we needed and gave us all the same care that Dee did. She explained everything from the type of plant to the 3 main types of plants to get in order to stage the Flower bed professionally. She took a ton of time to explain how it works and walked through the whole garden as we picked out the plants. Truly an amazing experience and we’re so glad we came here for this.

This is the type of service every industry should strive for, but unfortunately, it’s hard to find. These people are building relationships and genuinely care about their customers.

Though the cost can feel a bit high at times, I wanted this review to highlight the employees and their fantastic work.

Outstanding Experience at Family Tree Nursery Shawnee

I stopped into Family Tree Nursery in Shawnee while traveling for business, and I am very glad I did. When I walked in, Haley greeted me and made me feel welcome right away. As I looked around, I found some great T-shirts that I wanted to buy for a few friends, but I had trouble finding the sizes I needed. I went back to Haley for help, and she immediately brought Jesse to assist. The two of them were incredibly friendly, attentive, and eager to help me find exactly what I was looking for.

The store is beautiful and perfectly decorated for Christmas. Everything from the plants to the home decor to the merchandise is clean, organized, and very easy to shop. You can tell the team takes pride in the store.

One thing that truly impressed me was that not a single employee was on a cell phone. Every person working there was focused on customers and aware of what was happening around them. That level of customer service and professionalism is rare today.

Every employee I passed greeted me or offered assistance, which made my visit even better. If you have not been to this location, it is absolutely worth a visit even if you are not a plant lover. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and very enjoyable.

Thank you to the entire team at the Shawnee location for the amazing experience, the guest experience you created for me, and the hard work and dedication you put into your store for your customers.

First time going for the winter holiday container workshop and had a great time! Wonderful and helpful staff that ensure an experience you’ll enjoy. Definitely worth the trip!

Another weekend of trying NEW things… and this girl gang officially declares the container pot workshop at Family Tree in Shawnee a must-do! Brenna and Ambre were absolute rockstar teachers — we’re obsessed. Consider us already signed up for the Valentines class!

This review is so over due. I absolutely love this nursery and it is one of my favorite places to shop for houseplants and gardening!! My most recent visit had some of the best customer service I’ve ever had: every single person smiled and asked how I was and if I needed anything. I have never had a bad experience here and I love taking people who have never been. I can’t recommend Family Tree enough!

Family tree nursery really is the best! I love my experience in this store and in the store on Farley Street. The products are all so nice and I think reasonably priced for the quality. I have found a staff to be very friendly and helpful even on days when they were so busy they could hardly turn around without bumping into another customer. And then of course there are all of the lovely flowers and plants! To say nothing of the lily pond which I just discovered on my most recent visit. I always think of a visit to family tree as one of the treats I give myself visually and a nice little zen experience!

Nurseries always charm me and have a soft spot on my heart. Family tree nursery reminds me of a small version of Merrifield Garden Center in Northern VA! This place is so organized, clean and inviting. Dedicated sections inside and out: annuals, herbs/vegetables, Halloween decor by entrance, firewood/soil by the right side of the building to accommodate easy loading of big items. I didn’t venture inside and walk the aisles so that will be reserved for a later visit. While I didn’t help I was a few feet by the guest services and I overheard the staff being very helpful to other customers. Didn’t purchase anything but noticed their annual plants were on sale, at least giving patrons better value for their purchase.

I absolutely LOVE this nursery!! This review is long, long overdue. The staff is always so kind and helpful! I did the container workshop and I am so glad that I did! Jackson and Sergio were absolute rock stars in helping me out and giving the confidence as it was my first time. As well as the young man that helped me bring my container to my car (didn't catch his name). While shopping on several occasions Lucy has been so fun to shop with! Honestly everyone I've had help me has been absolutely amazing. I will definitely continue to come back again and again! A couple fun photos with the review, the container from the workshop and a beautiful Thanksgiving cactus!

I tried to cancel service after a year of their product/services not improving my yard. They offer a "guaranteed" product so they offered a complimentary aeration and application then would cancel my account. It was a nice gesture until they tried to charge me for it. Now I get automated calls from them telling me I need to call an 800 number regarding my account. Please cancel my acct and stop calling!

Very friendly and polite young man came at appointed time. He advised us to keep our dog off the grass for several hours.

Fair price and good service. Have needed to contact specialist to complete all of the mapped out locations on the property. They make it right, but would be good if didn’t need to oversee and had greater confidence. We will get there, give them a try.

No alert to services being provided today. Also, fertilizer hose was drug through our shade garden and a statue was knocked over. Fortunately it did not break, but the situation was avoidable had he taken time to place the hose outside of the shade garden.

I liked your service a few years ago. Glad I’m back. Like the face to face and the printed info as I don’t have a printer. I keep a file of all applications. My husband had a beautiful lawn and I’m trying to keep that up since he’s gone. I’ll let you know if I have questions or concerns. Thanks so much

Today was my first treatment. Sales person who sold me the service said the first treatment would be both weed control and fertilization and at 50% discount it would be $35 and will cover my 5000 sqft front and backyard. They showed up today and did a 5 min front yard spray and left without touching my backyard. I was charged $98 for a 5 min spray in 1/3 of what they supposed to treat. Called CS several times but no one was able to help. I am still waiting for them to call me back. I have a camera so all the service they have done is recorded. Very disappointing. I am canceling my service. Tried to cancel my service but they won’t allow me.

TruGreen is the way to go. My lawn looks so healthy and green with no weeds my neighbors has told me how great the yard looks. Thank you TruGreen 😊

I've had countless issues with my service.

From doing 1/10th of my yard to not even getting out of the truck and charging me.

I've had to contact customer service time and time again.

This is not the location you want to choice and God knows how many other people this is happening to.

Get it straightened out.
