Constraction reviews in Louisville, Kentucky

This company just complete my third major renovation project in the past 10 years and I would not consider using anyone else. There are no contractor “horror” stories with this company as are common with others. They are reliable, professional, and their work product is exceptional. The owner of the company is very hands-on and provided expert advice that began during the planning of the project and continued through to completion. I appreciated their weekly email updates informing me of what was completed, what was planned for the following week, and when they would be onsite. They installed dust walls, sealed air vents, and used a filter during the project, resulting in no dust outside of the work areas. The kitchen and bath were gutted, and the rest of my home stayed clean. Amazing! My new kitchen and bathroom are stunning! I have referred this company to friends who have been equally impressed with their performance. My friends have even referred their friends, and all agree that Designer Builders, without a doubt, is simply the best!

We wholeheartedly recommend Designer Builders for your next remodeling or renovation project! Stefan and his team were nothing short of spectacular to work with. Designer Builders completely renovated our the primary suite in our 1920s Cape Cod. Here are some highlights from our project:
• Stefan worked with the design team at Bethany Adams interiors to ensure that we had a warm and inviting bedroom and bathroom that prioritized the double vanity and additional closet space we wanted, while ensuring that we weren't incurring additional costs by moving too much plumbing.
• Our foreman, Jason, and his crew were all incredibly nice and took time to answer all our questions.
• The crew were very thoughtful in addressing all of the weird angles in our old house and we have a very polished final product.
• Designer Builders made time to add on additional exterior work when an unrelated issue popped up during our project.
• Our entire project was completed within the original timeline given.
• Stefan and his team made themselves available after our project was completed to address a few small items (a quick paint touch up and a small repair to our shower grout)
If you have a project in mind, we recommend that you reach out to Designer Builders soon! Because they do such great work, they get busy. We will certainly use Designer Builders for any of our future projects. -
Stefan and his entire staff were fantastic to work with. They remodeled our hall bathroom. The results were beautiful...it feels like a spa in there now. There was absolutely no dust from the demolition part of the work, ever. They were professional and kind, and actually fun to be around. The work was impeccable. Thank you, Designer Builders!

We had a great experience with a kitchen renovation. The space was very outdated and everything was updated - flooring, cabinets, countertops, appliances, etc. The whole team was great to work with, everything went very smoothly and finished ahead of schedule. The team offered extra help & weekly updates, recommendations, shopping guidance, and kept us on track with timeline and budget updates which was incredibly helpful as a first renovation project. I love the end result in an heavily used area in our home and it fits the style we wanted. Would definitely recommend Designer Builders and I would use again for another project.

These are great guy. And an awesome guy to work for
-
Richard is a good guy and is good at problem solving. The guys he hires are smart, hard working, and honest.
-
Pros:
-The overall cosmetic work turned out well
-I like many of his workers. We bought them pizza and drinks on their last day and they were so grateful. Nice men and I think they want to do a good job.
Cons:
-The owner is a bully. If you question anything about the work, the quote, the timeline, ANYTHING, he does not respond well.
-He will not take accountability for the mistakes that are made (which are inevitable in any reno project) but instead gaslights you.
-Everything you remember is somehow wrong, or “didn’t happen” and if you question any of it, you’ll be met with a condescending tone and disrespect.
-The guys accidentally hung cabinets in the kitchen where floating shelves were supposed to go but we were behind schedule so we said just to leave them. The cabinets were to go behind the washer and dryer. He decided to build 1 floating shelf behind the washer and dryer on his own accord and wants to bill us for it. We have explained the floating shelves were for the kitchen as per the contract and we never asked for a floating shelf anywhere else as cabinets were supposed to be above the washer/dryer. He quit responding.
-He was 5 weeks past the committed deadline but gaslit both my business partner and I stating we were both wrong and he never committed to that deadline when in fact he did.
-He will do unauthorized work and then bill you for it. You will ask repeatedly for quotes and never get them. My business partner called him 3/19 to discuss this issue we had about completing work without giving us a quote first. She then summarized the call via writing to confirm the conversation and we still never saw a single quote as work continued to be done. He will gaslight you if you bring this up and state that he told you in person about the issue or say we texted about it and when you go back to the texts, there will be no mention of work he is actually going to perform and then will bill you for it.
-We were going back and forth trying to negotiate the change orders and original contract because he didn’t do work stated on the original contract but still tried to bill us for the full amount plus the unauthorized change orders. He stopped replying the day the invoice was due then emailed us 4 days later threatening a lien against the home for the portion of the unpaid invoice(we had paid 60% of the invoice so far), a late fee, and 1.5% monthly charge. We replied asking him to not charge a late fee since we were in negotiations with him and trying to come to an agreement on the final credits we believe we should receive and that we never received the revised invoice showing our credits. He never responded.
-He sent an invoice for another small handyman job Feb 5th with the wrong LLC name and I asked him that day via email, multiple times via text, and again in email and finally got the revised invoice May 20th. It’s ok if 3.5 months of him not getting paid goes by because he ignores you, but he won’t give you a few days grace period on an invoice that you are actively discussing with him. It’s wild!
-He doesn’t communicate well and if you ask for more transparency, he doesn’t respond well. He likes to operate in shades of gray so you are always questioning things.
- I would probably find someone who wants to be a team player, will be transparent with costs up front, takes ownership when thing don’t go as planned (because that never will), and likes working not only with but also for women.
I’m positive I’ll face retaliation for this review, but if I can help one person, it would be worth it. -
Prompt and professional.

Had issues with the outside outlets for a couple years. In a short period of time, they had them fixed and working. Plus was going to replace garbage disposal that was not working; however, they looked at it and determined it was just an electrical issue and saved both time and money. Great service

Very friendly staff, helped me right way
-
I had a wonderful experience. Viking was on time and completed the job quicker than expected. Highly recommend.
-
We’ve used Viking electric for putting in light fixtures and routine maintenance over the last 5 years. Professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
-
Eric is amazing! Each time he came to my home to assist me with my electrical needs he ensured that everything was safe. Very professional and tighty with his work. He was even able to have a quick turn around time. I had called him and with in 2 days he was able to come fix the problems. I know thats not always the case, but it's always nice to see professionals do their best to complete a job quickly and thoroughly.
-
Viking is great! Eric came on time with all materials needed to do several jobs at one time. He didn't stop until he finished them all. Price was fair, job was professional.

Viking Electric was a delayed conversation from the start. They replied several weeks after an inquiry. I have them the benefit of the doubt and scheduled a day and time for someone to come out. Eric not only did not show up, they have refused to contact me since I took time off work to wait and get my home serviced and am beyond disappointed. Would not recommend to anyone actually wanting to get work completed.
