I cancelled my service last year and they still send me texts. Each time I get a text (this has happened 5-6 times now), I call and tell them that I've cancelled the service last year... and multiple times. This time, I missed the text. A service person came to m home. I sent him off and told him that I cancelled the service last year. Then I got a bill for $340 from them, that their customer service rep can't cancel for me and referred me to the general manager. I can't seem to get a refund for NO service. I'll be filing with the consumer protection for my state when I have more time. I'm beyond frustrated for being treated this way.

Brandon V. filled in well for James R. He was thorough with the granular fertilizer application and spot sprayed where needed to rid/control of annual broadleaf weeds, ground ivy, and crabgrass.

I am very happy having my lawn treated by Truegreen. It remains green all year long. They are ready to treat your lawn again if you are not happy with any application.
-
Second time this year they came and did not fertilize the whole yard. No proof, but much of my lawn looked like crap last year. Do not think they fertilized everything last year and probably spread the fertilizer pretty thin.

Great experience during our first year. Tech Christopher is great and I’ll miss seeing him.

The technician was very knowledgeable and took care of my issues. She gave me excellent advice concerning nutsedge. She was helpful and professional.

First off, once I finally got service the person was able to answer my questions and completed the service well.
The office was another story. I am a new customer. When I first called for a lawn evaluation I was surprised that I could only get it after booking the service. So I booked it and requested Monday between 8-12, as I had things to do. Yeah, sure we can do that. So I waited, and waited. I checked online to find my appt was for Wednesday, not what I agreed to. Calling the office I got a rep who got me Tuesday supposedly for the timeframe I wanted. Checking online again I find it's set for 10-3, so I braced for another wasted day. Fortunately the tech got to me shortly before 11. I could have the rest of the day for what I had to do. If it wasn't for that and his easy going manner this service would've been a one-and-done. -
Buyer beware! All their services are auto renew and they are violating RI law by not giving "clear and conspicuous disclosure" and "affirmative consent". We weren't told verbally or in writing about this auto renewal. Not responding to a notice is not consent. Here's my story. Trugreen came to our house and performed an aeration and overseeding service. We didn't request it. They charged us $500. I called the company and they said that because we requested the service last year we agreed to an auto renewal. They say all of their services are auto renew. We were never informed. RI law says they have to notify us of an upcoming renewal. We never received anything from them. They respond that they have copies of what was sent on file. That doesn't prove that it was sent or that we received it. Here is a summary of RI laws concerning auto renewal;
Clear and conspicuous disclosure of terms: Businesses must clearly disclose the terms of the automatic renewal offer, including the duration of the renewal and price changes, before the consumer agrees.
Affirmative consent: Consumers must provide affirmative consent to the auto-renewal terms before being charged.
Acknowledgement of terms and cancellation policy: Businesses must provide consumers with a retainable acknowledgment of the terms and clear instructions on how to cancel. If there's a free trial, cancellation instructions must be provided, and cancellation must be allowed before charging.
Renewal notice: In certain situations, such as a free trial over 31 days or a promotional price over 31 days, businesses must send a notice stating the service will renew, the renewal terms, ways to cancel, and contact information. Let me repeat, the highlights are "clear and conspicuous disclosure" and "affirmative consent". There is nothing on their website that mentions auto renewal of all their services. IF they sent a notice, NOT responding to a notice is not consent. People need to know that. To add to the error they performed the service while we are under watering restrictions due to a drought! It's doomed to failure. It's not supposed to be done until LATE August, early September at best! Trying to get a refund you get rerouted through a maze of phone lines and can't talk to anyone local. We talked to someone in Trinidad! He offered us half our money back. I refused. I want it all back. It's the wrong time of year, we can't water it. We have an auto renewal policy for our oil delivery. Santoro Oil call us and sends a letter every year and asks us to confirm that we want to continue. That's what good service looks like. I filed a complaint with the Consumer Protection Unit of the State Attorney General and wrote to the consumer protection division of two television stations. I'm going to spread the word until I get a full refund. Trust Pilot is next and then every review site I can find. John, Narragansett RI -
Called with concern of spots on lawn, service was moved to next day to address, review and treat. Service tech very polite and informative. Appreciate quick turn around. Looking forward to improved results.

Our service team technician Joshua was again outstanding. He's been to our place several times and has always taken the time to thoroughly answer all my questions and explain the issues with my shrubs. He is very friendly and professional and I really appreciate the great job he continues to do for us. He is certainly a wonderful asset to TruGreen.

Chris did a great job… Very professional. Gave me information about the lawn services /what he was going to do and why. And was very patient with my requests/questions.

I used SeaScape for a few years. I got a call from TruGreen and I decided I would give them a try. What an absolutely horrible service. I am not sure what they put on the grass but it died almost immediately. When a service tech came while I was home, I told him how displeased I was. They sent someone out and discovered I had sinch bugs. So essentially I paid all summer for a service to help improve and maintain my lawn and it ended up being WORSE than ever. They did come and apply some free services and although it’s winter, I’m not sure my lawn will recover.
If you want to kill your grass, go with TruGreen. Pretty much ANY service is better than this.
April 2025 update. After the initial Google Review, True Green reached out to me to try and make it right. I could not emphasize enough how bad my grass looked. The only grass in the neighborhood worse than mine was a rental property down the street and they do not do ANY lawncare (see my photos below of my grass). They offered a free aeration and seeding. I was unsure but they said it would improve my grass. Well, the guy came and did the back yard only and not the entire back yard. He did not even touch the front yard even though I had bare spots! I was very upset when I saw this and called them and told them I was disappointed at how this free service was not even done correctly and that we were DONE! The rep on the phone was very nice and said he would cancel all other services.
Two days later, I come home after a long day and see that TruGreen had been there AGAIN-- without warning, without permission, and after I had explicitly told them we were DONE! I completed my survey, and over the past two days they have spam called me 6 times. I picked up 5 times and no answer 3 times. One woman was calling to ask me to pay my bill-- for a free service? Another woman called because of my survey and to follow up. I told her why I was unhappy and she said "Do you want a manager to call you?" I told her "NO. WE ARE DONE. DO NOT CALL ME. TAKE MY NUMBER OFF YOUR LIST." Today, yet another call from TruGreen.
Do not bother using this service- they are HORRIBLE. There are many others that have more integrity and employees who actually do the job right the first time. -
Technician Brandon was here today, very personable and professional ,he answered all the questions I had and gave me his expert advice on a project I have in mine. He did a great job, we are looking forward to seeing him again.Tru Green is fortunate to have Brandon representing their company because great employees are hard to find.

I can tell you this (THE BEST OF THE BEST!!) this true green service person was on time and very good at what he does!(How do I know?) I have cameras on all sides of my property and he applied every square inch of my property! I’ve had 3 other companies and the reason I now have TRUE GREEN is as I said earlier CAMERAS DON’T LIE !!!! I had one company who put a pellet down and after 6 months it was still there white pebbles that never Dissolved????? :GONE!!! All I CAN SAY IS IF YOU GO WITH TRUE GREEN YOU WILL BE A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!😊

The dude cutter my grass so good and he also fixed everything that I needed to get fixed highly recommend

Unfortunately, all they do is try to sell, sell, sell. They will say anything to sell. After that, lies, lies, lies.
I purchased lawn complete, perimeter and mosquito. I pretty much purchased everything. I was informed by local branch that if I needed anything, just call that cell phone and they'd be there to help me. Nope! They do not respond. I have to go through 1-800# on hold for minimum of 10 minutes. I was told 100% satisfaction guarantee. Nope! They say they'll have local branch reach out to make things right, still waiting, been weeks! They said lawn complete. Nope! I called because I have bald spots in lawn. Now, I do not have seeding included in my package (I was informed I had everything)! So, that'll be an additional $400+!
Do not trust them. They will say anything to sell and then good luck! -
Barry did a very good job today. The first over seeding showed no signs of any seeds at all. The aeration was completed but no signs of seeds. The second service showed seeds on the yard..

Trugreen and their incompetence ruined my lawn. What should’ve been a routine weed kill application turned into an utter disaster. They used a machine that ground up all my brand new green, thriving grass, and over applied weed kill/fertilizer, which burned and incinerated a large majority of my beautiful lawn. I’m a new customer and I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with him over the last several weeks, and they do not seem to claim responsibility for their negligence, lack of training, poor oversight, lack of judgment, and failure to resolve issues timely.
I will post the pictures and video shortly on Yelp. -
Destroyed my lawn. My grass was green now it’s black and completely burnt by the fertilizer. A fortune was spent on sodding my front and back lawn and in a matter of a few TruGreen visits my lawn is destroyed.
-
Ever since I switched to Tru Lawn and landscaper my grass never looked so good! They come at correct intervals so I dont have to worry about doing fertilizer treatments at right time of year. This will be our third year of doing business.

James does a great job and always answers my questions , etc. I’m learning about lawn and plant care from him and i really appreciate it.
He really represents TruGreen very well:
