    System working great.
I am pleased with them and their response and service.

Very disappointed with the service of this company. Had them out twice this summer because the relatively brand new AC wasn’t pushing enough cool air through the house. The technician always seemed to be in a hurry and wanted to quickly move on, saying the unit was slightly too small. Had the good fortune of my plumber recommending Dude’s AC, and they promptly showed up today and quickly identified the problem as the unit’s airflow being covered in dirt that was so thick and blanket-like inside and outside that the unit couldn’t pull enough air through it to work properly. Turns out the unit is properly sized but technician was too lazy to clean it properly. Do yourself a favor, call Dude’s before you call these guys. Don’t waste your time or money with people who don’t do the job properly the first time.

Mr. Peterson's company is by far the most honest, fair and knowledgable Air Conditioning business in Baton Rouge. He is very responsive and is always available when you need service. I highly recommend!!

I had the best experience with my technician Neal today. Very knowledable and went above and beyond replacing my capacitor which gave me my AC back. Will definitely use them for all my AC needs in the future.

Thomas was incredibly nice and efficient doing my routine maintenance that comes for free twice a year with the subscription service. One hour is good about getting me to schedule it even when I'm difficult to get in touch with.

Russell was a phenomenal tech. AC unit went out ~9PM, got online and scheduled an appointment. Russell arrived on time early the next AM, was cordial and polite, explained the intricacies of a high-performing system and fixed all issues we had. Answered all questions without issue and presented us options for future consideration.

EDIT 12/8/25: Darren arrived on time for the appointment, got to work, and finished the seasonal service on both of our systems in ~1 hour. Also discussed and received an estimate for a potential added return vent in a timely manner shortly following the appointment.

Scooter is honest, efficient, and friendly. He explains what's up, and that's important. I was happy to hear he was coming to my mom's, because he worked on my A/C back in the summer and did an excellent job there as well.

Warning — $7,000 in Unnecessary Quotes for a Problem Fixed with Duct Tape

It felt like this company tried to scam us. We were quoted nearly $7,000 for repairs and cleanings, but the actual issue was a disconnected duct under our mobile home — fixed with a few pieces of duct tape.

Our AC was running, blowing cold air, but the house stayed hot and humid. The technician, Bobby Sonier, arrived and confidently said the motor fan was the problem. With a pregnant wife and 7-month-old at home, we agreed to replace it for $1,700. It changed nothing.

Then we were quoted $3,000 to clean coils and blowers — more guesses. After pushing for answers, Bobby finally checked under the house two days later and found the real issue: a loose duct. He taped it back together (poorly), and suddenly everything worked. Yet even then, they quoted us $2,200 to “replace” that duct — a job that was unnecessary and fixed for under $200 by another company.

We were misled and overcharged at every turn. When I called to complain, I was transferred repeatedly and given conflicting stories. The “owner,” Kelly Scott, either lied or allowed miscommunication to run rampant. Nearly everything I was told by him conflicted with what the receptionist said — especially the reasonings why they were unavailable or who I should expect a call from.

They will likely respond to this review with something like “we’re sorry you feel this way,” when they should be sorry for coming off as dishonest and predatory, while treating their “beloved customers” like easy targets.

They took advantage of our lack of HVAC knowledge and our urgency to fix the issue. The whole experience felt manipulative, exhausting, and deeply unprofessional.

Do not trust this company. Save your money, your time, and your sanity — go with someone else.

UPDATE: the old motor fan that the company replaced, reiterating that the part would fail in the next month and we would come crying to them, is still working perfectly 7 months later. Talk to your friends and family before trusting these so called “experts”.

My tech was Great, and the time to get them there was fantastic. My problem lies with the price. The outside AC contactor and capacitor on the unit were worn out. They charged $400 for each part, including labor. The parts themselves only cost around $50 each. So, I paid $350 an hour for a tech? That is crazy expensive for less than 2 hours worth of work. again tec was very nice and got it done, but at that price i will not use you again.

I used them to service my ac unit due to it not blowing cold. Thru came out claimed I had a leak and refilled my coolant. 4 days later the sane issue returned. I contacted them and someone came out added coolant again and says a supervisor would come back on Friday to reevaluate. The supervisor comes out does a 5 minute reevaluation and immediately tries to sell me a new unit for around 20,000$ because my unit had a bag leak and was too difficult and costly and time consuming to repair. I declined the purchase and he was shocked. The weirdest thing is ever since I declined to purchase a new system and they refilled my coolant after the first repair I haven’t had any issues on my supposedly unrepairable AC system. I even had someone else look at it and claimed that there is no major leak. Did they try to scam me because I’m really feeling like they tried to.

Chris was so knowledgeable and had very helpful and practical suggestions to resolve our problems. He discussed everything with us along with costs prior to doing the work. He even checked about the warranty on our system. We highly recommend Chris for any A/C repairs you may need.

We recently hired River City's One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning to address a dripping pan issue and to take a look at our air conditioning unit. A few hours of work later, we were presented with an invoice for $4,000, which left us shocked.

After examining the cost of the parts used, we understood that there would be a reasonable markup; however, the pricing was excessive by several thousand dollars. Even if labor were charged at $200 per hour, per technician, plus a one-time travel fee, the numbers still didn’t add up.

When we attempted to discuss this with the company, the response we received was essentially, “Too bad.”

We are not typically people who write complaints, but we felt compelled to share our experience so that others are aware. This is not meant to be spiteful—it’s simply the facts. If you choose to work with this company, make sure to request a detailed quote upfront before agreeing to service.

Dj was very courteous, well-mannered, professional and knowledgeable. He explained in detail what was going on with my unit, my agreement with the company, how to properly install my filter, and next steps!

Technician, Sammy Smily, did an excellent job. He explained the preventative maintenance he was going to do and worked quickly to complete each task.

Gannon was very friendly and professional. He was thorough in his inspection and really took his time to try to resolve the issue we were having with 2 of our ducts.

River City's One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating wanted to charge over $900 😮 to add 2 lbs of refrigerant to one of my units. They even went as far as suggesting I spend $17,000 🤯 to replace the unit just because the unit is older and showing signs of wear, but is still working and outlasting many newer systems. Knowing better 😒, I contacted another technician who did it for $255 😌. I expressed my concern to the manager 😠 about being over charged and how this eroded my trust and confidence for future repairs because I’m on their maintenance plan. I was told they charge more because they are a larger operation and respond quickly and work on weekends 🙄. That they provide quality service with trained technicians 🙄and have a large fleet of vehicles to maintain and they have overhead🙄. Still doesn’t change the cost of refrigerant, especially not 3.5 x’s as much. I’m a real estate agent and was hoping I found an honest and reputable provider for my clients, but I’ll be removing my properties from their maintenance plan as soon as I have an alternative lined up.

This was our semiannual maintenance visit. Technician Braylon was excellent. Please send him back to us for future visits. He found no issues at this time and we had no added charges. He was personable, thorough, and professional. We were very pleased. We will be renewing our service agreement. Thank you.

River City’s One Hour HVAC employees are well trained professionals. They arrived on time, listened to my concerns and went to work. After finding the problem, they consulted with me, and made the needed repair. Soon after, they completed the maintenance work required on both units. We have been using River City for years and highly recommend them.
    Brett did an awesome job
