I have been using Southland A/C since 2007! They are a very professional company and have been very easy to deal with over the years. Melanie in the office is exceptional, and I appreciate all of her help. Brandon is a great technician. I just recently had a new coil and drain pan installed which was a huge endeavor. The installer Chris was very talented in addition to being polite and informative. I highly recommend this company for your air conditioning and heating needs.

Warning! Be careful! Southland Air Conditioning & Heating is now owned by Southern Air NOLA. I called Southland's phone number when my HVAC stopped working last week. The technician who came out in response to my call told me I needed to immediately buy a new HVAC system "because of mold." He said it could cost as much as $30,000. La Grange A/C & Heating, the reputable company I called for a second opinion, fixed my HVAC by replacing a blower motor at a very reasonable price.

Overall great experience with Southland. I had no problem setting up the appointment and getting someone to come within a couple of business days. Good communication with the company throughout (thanks Melanie). Brandon has installed/serviced the units before and did a great job. He was friendly and professional throughout the visit and provided recommendations on next steps to address the concerns we have. Highly recommend them.

We had issues with our old system and was told because it was an older model they no longer service it and we needed to look into replacing with a newer model to prevent the same issues from happening again and again. So they scheduled us a new appointment with someone else after waiting all day for the service guy to arrive to this initial meeting. Sales guy came and quoted prices for new systems $11000+-30000+. Got calls bright an early the next day to setup payments right away. Now I can or get anyone to call me back soon enough to come service this Brand new system they installed that is freezing. But anyway After selecting a unit they had to schedule yet another meeting to come install which literally took all of our Saturday time away, only for the system to start freezing after 5hrs when they left called the after-hours dispatch to tell me someone will reach out and didn't. Got a call Sunday someone will come and it had been hours waiting. And again another day all day at our home on a Sunday fixing the new system yet again. So our whole weekend gone appointments and events missed within this week. Only to be assured it would work this time and that they will send someone Monday for extra assurance to install a 2nd air intake vent. 5hours again the system freezing the home getting increasing hot again and it's 87°+ outside as well. Call after-hours dispatch again to be told someone will call me and nothing all that evening. Called again Monday since someone was supposed to come out and was told someone was on the way at 8am. They did not show up until after 10a and again was here until 4p. Had to cancel another appointment due to this taking all day again. I was assured for sure it will work this time and EVERYTHING was checked and nothing should freeze etc etc. Welp 5hrs later in the night the pipes outside of the unit freezing and we are left with should we keep running it so get some cool air or shut it off. Call dispatch again and told again someone will call. Nothing that night so I woke up 8a to call again told the same thing again and hours gone by today and no call. Called again and was told they had a meeting someone will call and nothing again. Called an hour later and told by Samantha that Chris will call after he hangs up with another customer. Well still waiting for that call. It was not this hard to get someone when they called several times to setup our financing for this unit that was supposed to solve our problems. I have way more anxiety now and not confident in a solution. They have not done anything to make me not regret spending our money for their services and does not seem concerned about the issue or inconveniences and now health concerns from an overheating house from a new system we just brought for them. Not happy at all!!!

    WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

I had a new unit installed by Southland just 13 months ago for an apartment. I chose them because I wanted a reputable company with years of local experience.

Last month, the unit started blowing barely cool air. A technician came out and said there was a refrigerant leak, quoting me $500 for a dye test and $100 per pound of coolant — for a total of $1,300–$2,000. He apologized and implied it was likely a manufacturer defect. This was the unit they recommended — not a budget model, but supposedly a reliable one.

Friends of mine familiar with HVAC work told me that a major refrigerant leak this soon is usually the result of a poor installation, not the equipment itself. When I called to raise this with the company, they just put me back in touch with the same technician, who repeated his earlier explanation. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and they sent a senior technician. He found the leak in the condenser coil immediately — without a dye test. So why was I told I “needed” a $1,600 dye test in the first place?

Now, the repair estimate is $3,000 for a unit that’s barely over a year old. I asked for a call back from the office to discuss next steps — no one called me back. At this point, it’s clear to me that Southland is more focused on charging customers as much as possible than on standing behind their work.

To make matters worse, when I pressed them about the issue, they told me the company was under “new management” and that my install was done by the “old business” — yet my invoice from 13 months ago says Southland, their text messages say Southland, their website says Southland. They repeatedly tried to use this as an excuse, as if the problem wasn’t their responsibility.

I originally chose Southland because of their history as a local small business. I’ve since learned they were bought by an equity firm that seems more interested in profits than in doing right by customers.

If you’re looking for an HVAC contractor, find someone local who will take ownership of their work. Avoid this company.

***the owner reply on google stating to call them back is an automatic reply. They have my contact, don't be fooled, this company has no idea how to deal with customer complaints, or they would of called me back after the technician's inspection (I gave them 3 weeks before writing this review)***

I do not recommend!! The business sold to Southern Air without notifying any customers. To continue with the maintenance plan it is more expensive & includes plumbing & electrical inspection which I do not want . I have my long time electrician & plumber.

Southland installed a complete new HVAC 5 ton 2 speed system, including new ductwork, at our home last week. Jeff and Selvin arrived on time each day, put down drop cloths on work areas, cleaned up every day, and made us feel that we were getting a professional installation. They were well prepared for the job and knew exactly what had to be done. We were very pleased eith all aspects of the work done.

A bunch of con artists Never allowed at my house ever again
    Where do I begin?
    Three cancellations
Really don’t care about that though
That was God telling me to not have this company come to our house
And I should’ve listened to God
    Brandon with southland air
    Was a bit raw
Like I said, where do I begin with his comments?
Telling Us, he could not put in any Freon unless we had our units both up on cinderblocks when they are on a concrete slab and we do not flood in this area like I said they are very nice concrete slabs! we have houses being built in our neighborhood and they are all on concrete slabs not cinderblocks! Basically wanting them to sag out so I would have to buy another through them more wear and tear on my units! Complete idiocy
Then goes to tell us that he cannot add any Freon unless he charges us $11,000 to add his product preaching about zero financing but then tells me cash price without using Home Depot would be Eight grand ! Then goes to tell me that you’re lucky you did not have anything wrong with your units. Otherwise, I would have to shut it down much like I did to the old lady day before Christmas. I had to shut her unit off in the middle of the cold And freezing weather!
So initially, I thought they were just going to look at our units but come to find out all they’re doing is trying to make profit by shutting peoples central air and heat off! This is why I was canceled three times because nobody had heat because they are the ones turning off everyone units! He said he has every right in every authority to do so! Get this garbage company out of Louisiana stop screwing over people and especially stop screwing over old people. God will catch up to you later You will feel his wrath
