The Gardenology team did a fabulous job on my property. They transplanted about 10 plants, installed new plants, pruned shrubs, weeded, cleaned all leaves from the property, applied mulch, edged the lawn, and moved a large rock to showcase it in an area where spring plants will go. The team worked diligently for 5-6 days and exercised great care to be respectful of my property and that of my neighbors. Throughout the process, there was great communication with the company. I highly recommend!

Barbara Katz is the owner of London Landscapes and she is an absolute wizard at landscape design. Barbara discussed various possibilities with us after carefully listening to our thoughts and ideas, then completely redesigned our rather small front yard to create lovely textures and shapes through the use of a wide variety of perennials, shrubs and trees. She also designed a small circular patio, perfect for two chairs and an umbrella from which to admire the developing color palette as the seasons unfold. The whole property now just looks so lovely and passersby comment on its beauty all the time. What a joy to bring such beauty into the world!

London Landscapes has been our landscape architect for 22 years at our home in Chevy Chase. They have designed our property through multiple phases, gradually turning a neglected lot into a showpiece featured on garden tours. They did a wonderful job with the gardens but also with terraces, patios, planting beds, a pergola and a fish pond. They are very responsive and also quite cost-effective compared to bigger outfits.

The owner, Barbara, has a fantastic knowledge of plants, trees, cultivars, all the details you need to know to be able to choose the best plant for your project. She also has "an eye" and can tell you how to achieve the type of landscape you are looking for. On top of that, she doesn't push you to buy and spend unnecessary money in difficult projects, hard to maintain, and she can find how to achieve beautiful results with what you have or with few changes. I highly recommend having a consultation with her before starting any project in the garden.

We have collaborated alongside Barbara with London Landscapes LLC for over 30 years. She is a talented landscape designer with creative ideas and strong attention to detail. Her expertise in project management while producing showcase landscapes is magnificent. Barbara has extensive knowledge of plants, trees, stone work, water features, irrigation and lighting. Barbara Katz is a wonderful landscape designer and a lovely person to work with. Her firm can do everything from planting to decks, patios, water features, etc. But I think she really excels in designing gardens with magical color combinations that are beautiful in all seasons. She has an extensive knowledge of trees, shrubs, and especially perennials, and the best cultivars to use. Barbara is getting a reputation far beyond the DC area for her design expertise.

Barbara is a fantastic landscape designer and a great person. I have known her for many years as a member of APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) and have toured many of her projects, including the Delaware Botanical Gardens. Over the course of a couple of seasons, Barbara designed and installed garden renovations in our front and back gardens in Chevy Chase, MD. Her work is nothing short of extraordinary. She took existing landscapes that were pleasant but somewhat ho-hum and random and transformed them into magical settings with unifying themes. Her biggest challenge was in our back yard, where we had been confronted by serious water problems for years. She helped design a riverstone swale for the water itself. Then, near the swale, she designed and installed a gorgeous palette of shrubs, perennials, ground covers and small trees that can tolerate, even welcome, "wet feet" and that are thriving and happy. In the drier parts of the property, both front and back, she designed and installed an amazingly diverse array of plantings that are individually beautiful but that hold together so well thematically.

Barbara is a great designer who creates gardens that beautifully fit both what the local conditions require and what her clients are looking for. She has an amazing eye for color and texture combinations; has an encyclopedic knowledge of plants (and has introduced me to many plants I had never heard of but now cannot do without); is an excellent communicator and collaborator; and is an absolute pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend her more highly.

Barbara designed a garden for me in my small Chevy Chase backyard. The process was a pleasure, and the outcome was spectacular. Barbara designed the hardscape, and worked with the stone mason on execution, and recommended a good lighting designer (Olson Weaver). Barbara's true gift was in plant selection. She choose plants that fit the space, are easy to care for, and thrive in our challenging conditions. Her thoughtful and beautiful selections are a source of joy year round.

Barbara was a great listener when we began the process of a major front garden renovation. We wanted a deer-resistant evergreen but also colorful garden. Her experience and expertise were obvious from the start. She presented us with 3 equally appealing plans one of which we chose to adopt with some modifications. She and her contractors were efficient and the job got done even quicker than we expected. A pleasure to work with from start to finish. Even from the start we had an amazing front landscape and now 3 years later it has matured beautifully.

Barbara worked with us to redesign and replant the back and side gardens of our 19th century carriage house in Baltimore, including a multi-season cottage/pollinator garden, creating new walkways and sitting areas, and incorporating new plants into an existing mature landscape. Always the professional, she brings a deep knowledge of plants and garden design to a truly exciting and fun collaborative process. She was generous with her time and always available to answer our questions. In addition, we used her preferred contractors for stone work and irrigation, and they all spoke very highly of her, both personally and professionally. My backyard is a sheer joy to behold. I smile every time I look at what Barbara Katz accomplished. And, the work she did this year to complete the back where the so-called vegetable garden was supposed to be is wonderful. The fig tree looks great now that it’s unencumbered by all the other stuff that was around it.
