Very poor customer service. Expect to be on hold a minimum of 40 minutes before speaking with someone. Also, it is not possible to set an appointment time - you must be available all day.

I called this morning and a friendly young lady by the name of Malissa Jameson helped me with all my questions and needs. She was very informative, it was a pleasure speaking with her, niceness goes a long way.

10/26/2022 Not receiving monthly paper bills as I have been for years. Tried to get hold of SMO on the phone. On hold for 30 minutes to no avail. Tried a few different phone numbers I looked up, just goes to hold or phone number not in service.

Just had an SMO technician let all 3 of my dogs out of my backyard to roam the neighborhood instead of knocking on my door to have me let them in so they could fill my tank. Looking for a new oil provider now.

Was a customer of this company for over 10 years. Closed my account because they over filled my tank and made a mess. I had to have oil pumped out to correct the situation. They would not credit me for the spilled oil or the pumped out oil even after I called twice for resolution.

If this was done in error, I will take down this post, but as of writing this, I was charged $100 without a single mention of how much this "mandatory safety inspection" was. Not when I scheduled it and not when the technician looked at the tank for 10 seconds before determining it as unsafe. The quote I received from them for a new tank was over $4000 and they refuse to work with warranty companies.

SMO offers no customer service! Impossible to reach them on telephone, email. Client chat doesn’t work either. I’ve been a customer for decades, service contracts on two houses, no more!
I have new service contracts with company that answers telephone. I have auto delivery of fuel oil, any idea I can cancel that? I’ve tried telephone, email, client chat only to be on hold 20-30 minutes. They aren’t worth even one star!

We have been SMO customers for decades and have several service contracts with them. SMO was recently taken over by Griffith and has gone rapidly downhill. It is essentially IMPOSSIBLE get any response from them at all. So far this week I have waited over 1 1/2 hours listening to recordings that the “client care team will gladly assist you in just a moment”. On line system is useless.

My Mother has had a contract with SMO for years. She is suppose to receive automatic oil delivery, because she pays in advance. For the second winter my Mother, 95 years old has been allowed by extremely poor management of her account to run out of oil. I can't get an explanation of why and would like some to honest enough to fix and tell me how this will not happen again. My Mom lives in Glen Burnie 21060.

SMO has been a great company with our oil delivery even in all kind of weather. We had and emergency during the winter, late at night and the gentleman on the phone talk to my son to get heat started in our house until the service man could get here. Recently, I made a call to schedule maintenance on air condition, furnace and water heater. The nice lady in the office asked if I needed anything I mentioned We all have allergies and she suggested to have Rich come out and see if he could help. What a wonderful gentleman and at his suggestions we had a humidifier, a larger filter and an ultraviolet light installed. What a difference it has made in our life. The 2 gentlemen that installed the equipment were polite and did a great job. I give them five stars for the great people they have working for them.

Our last experience with SMO was outstanding! Jennifer Falcone listened to my questions and took positive steps to make sure every thing we requested and needed was was done. She followed through every step of the way including sending a very informative video regarding the cleaning of our mini-split unit. We never received this information when the unit was installed around 2016. We have been customers with SMO for over 45 years and although the service has been good overall, Jennifer Falcone went above and beyond in this instance. We truly thank her.

I have a service contract with them. I had a problem with condensation dripping from the coil down into the return duct, leaving it wet. They came out, measured the refrigerant, and said it was fine. He couldn’t figure out why and left without any fix. I called another company a couple days later, and they came out and said the refrigerant was low. He added and the condensation drip stopped. I will not let SMO touch my system again!

I don’t know what changed in this company they used to have the best customer service, but I ran out of oil two days ago (thur) and was told they couldn’t do same day, but they would be here no later than the third day Saturday.
So I had to accept that they said I could only get same day if I had gone through a credit check to get on their automatic renewal. Here it is Saturday I called to make sure they’re coming and they say that they’re not supposed to be here till Monday. They don’t deliver on weekends.
Why did they lie? What’s up with the incompetence? Meanwhile, I have two children here and one is sick and we have no heat.
I will be switching oil companies next season.

Not sure what SMO the people in the reviews I've read are referring to with glowing reviews. The temperature outside is in the 30s, and once again SMO has let my elderly mothers' oil run out because they forgot to deliver it. This has become an annual thing. My Mom is on automatic delivery & she always carries at least a $1500. credit on her bill. There's no excuse.. Issue number 2, is the fact that you can't speak to someone at SMO. The wait time is ridiculous and once again COVID is the scapegoat for poor customer service. SMO wants their money on a timely basis, but as paying ccustomers weren't no entitled to timely customer service and delivers.
cwere The parent company, Griffin is j

Not inequally lousy, you can't even get their customer service to answer the phone.

We have had a service contract with SMO for decades , with no no problems.
Recently Griffin Oil has taken over it has been a nightmare . Made an appointment waited around all day and nobody showed. When contacting the company they said that they had been out and tagged the door that nobody answered . We were here all day .
We checked and there was no tag on the door . We called back and then they changed the story that nobody had actually come out and we had to reschedule. That was the first incident.
Rescheduled, the tech come out and serviced the unit and said the unit was low on Freon.
Appt was made for May 1 to come and fill it ,
They gave us a time between 12 and 4.
we sat for 4 hours nobody showed up.
We called at 4 o’clock to let customer service to tell them nobody showed up . We were told that there was no mention of the unit being low on Freon and no appointment made.
Had to reschedule , this is unacceptable!
The customer service is terrible, will be looking for a new company to service my equipment.

I have never had a problem and I have been with them since 2007. We purchased a A/C unit from them and have a yearly service agreement for our A/C and Broiler though them. Whenever we had any kind of issue with either one they were here quickly and fixed the issue for us. With their service agreements there was not charge for the repairs. We also are on the monthly budget program for oil which they know when to come by and fill the tank. I really can't complain about SMO. They have been efficient and professional when they are here. Right now we can't complain to much about the oil prices because they are not cheap anywhere! I am still trying to contact them reference my monthly budget. My son has moved out, who used most of the oil for showers and washing his clothes but now it is only my husband and myself. Wondering why they haven't reduced out monthly payment. ?????

We had a contract with SMO for 10 years only to have issues with everything from the thermostat to the AC unit every single year. Contacted another company who found multiple leaks in our unit that SMO did not find less than one month prior.
After paying for 4 service contracts, several of which never did their annual service, we are getting a contract with a company that comes out twice a year for less than half of the annual cost that SMO charged us to come out once a year for 10 minutes to "check the units" and never empty our water heater one time in 10 years (we did it ourselves!). There are many solid, locally-owned companies that are much more honest and reliable than SMO. The total lack of SMO responses to negative reviews should be enough proof of this.

A SMO technician ruined my oil furnace. I called for a small leak in the tubing from my oil tank to the furnace and ended up with a damaged furnace. The technician twisted the spray nozzle tubing so bad the furnace could not get any fuel. I found this out after I complained and they sent out another technician to find the problem. When I asked the first technician what he had done, he stated he did not know. I then had to wait for SMO to find a replacement spray nozzle apparatus of which they never did find one. They attempted to repair the damaged one. I also told them my furnace was vibrating badly after the first technician damaged it. Ken, the service manager put a tree branch under the furnace blower(ridiculous). I looked at the blower and found a shop rag in the blower wheel, something Ken should have found. I refuse to let this company near my oil furnace now. The SMO service was terrible. Note: I was with Hein Brothers for over twenty years and they were always professional and reliable.
