HVAC reviews in Hyattsville, Maryland

The work done was excellent. We had two different projects - one to rebuild our chimneys and another to repair several small brick areas I around the yard. Both appear to be extremely high quality.
I’d give five stars if the administrative part had been easier. Had to work a bit to schedule the jobs and each job had to be scheduled separately.
All in all, extremely satisfied and would definitely use them again.

My husband and I recently purchased a property with two chimneys and felt it was a good idea to have them inspected before burning the first fire. After some online research, we decided to call American Professional to come assess them. Two of their technicians, both named Brian, came out. Incredibly friendly and knowledgable. They went above and beyond to explain what they saw and how best to operate and care for our chimneys in the future. I never got the impression they were trying to sell me on anything or convince me more work needed to be done that didn't. It turns out that American Professional had done previous work on the chimneys under the prior homeowners and they had record of all the repairs and work done and the warranties on each. They clearly stand by their work. Would absolutely hire again for our regular chimney cleans and maintenance and would recommend this company without hesitation.

This company has great people to work with. They are knowledgeable, highly experienced and honest. David has done incredible job with replacing our firebox and chimney liner with a reasonable price. We highly recommend this company with your fireplace, chimney work and chimney cleaning. You are not going to be dissapointed.

DO NOT BOOK. If you look closely at the google reviews here, everyone gives a great review and says the major repair/replace work they got done looks great.
What they do not ask is, was this work really necessary?
I just moved into my house and had a couple of very polite guys come out to my house and not even clean my chimney because of how “unsafe” it is. When they told me my chimney would need a $4000 repair I was immediately skeptical since I knew the previous owners, and know that they had done maintenance on the chimney. It was clear at this point that the younger member of the staff was observing the “sales pitch” for this work.
They workers tried very hard to tell me how unsafe the often used fireplace was. Obviously I got a second opinion.
Another chimney professional that has been cleaning chimneys for 42 years explained to me that companies like American professional apply the “unsafe” label to any chimney that is not perfect. Well, no chimneys on older houses are perfect and never will be. He also told me that the likelihood of an incident on the vast majority of these chimneys is astronomically low.
Get a second opinion - do not book this company that creates an expensive problem in order to solve it. When you see the reviews below, when someone says their chimney looks like new, well, that’s because they paid for a new chimney. Save your money! -
From start to finish, Stefan and American Professional Chimney were fantastic. I wanted to replace my gas fireplace insert. After finding the model I wanted, I met with Stefan. We talked about my options and the process. He worked according to my schedule. Each step - removing the old insert and installing the new - was flawless. The team was professional and helpful. They took the time to give me some pointers on how the remote works and left my home free of any debris. I’m looking forward to winter - but not rushing it. Thanks Stefan.

American Professional Chimney and Masonry were incredible in getting our chimney repaired. We recently moved into a home where we knew there would be some needed chimney repairs. We called American Professional Chimney and Masonry and they were wonderful from step 1 through the end of the process. Brian Sanders provided a thorough inspection and estimated the work. We moved forward and got our chimney repaired. Justin Myers performed the work and was exceptional. There were many hidden problems while repairing, but they finished the job and honored the original estimate. This is unheard of in these current times so it was great to work with such professional, honest people. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends and I will be using them in the future if I need any more chimney repairs!

We had a great experience working with American Professional Chimney. The helped us choose a new gas fireplace insert, by thoroughly explaining our options, taking measurements and showing pictures of actual installed units The installation went well and we love the look of the new fireplace. Will definitely use them again.

After 15 years at our abode we finally got our chimney inspected and cleaned. We only use our fireplace a few times a year, but we were definitely overdue. I had the best experience with American. I called and was able to schedule an appointment in short order and the technician who came to the house was professional, answered all my questions, and gave me clear instructions re next steps. There is a reasonable charge to inspect and clean the chimney. Repairs, if needed are extra. I have two fireplaces, so was told there would be an additional charge if the second fireplace needed cleaning. The technician determined that the second fireplace had not been used since the previous cleaning and told me it did not need attention. As for the cleaning itself, it took approximately 30 minutes or less, and other than my moving furniture directly in front of the fireplace so that they could gain access, there was no other disruption. I thought I might need to clear my mantle, but that was unnecessary, as was covering my other furniture near the fireplace. Soot did not come out of the fireplace as they used vacuum type equipment that sucked it all up. After the cleaning, the technician went onto the roof and checked the related equipment. He found it to be in good condition, but recommended that I apply a special spray paint in the near future to prevent rusting. All in all this was a great experience, no dirt, little disruption, reasonable cost, a clean bill of health for my fireplaces for the next five years, and peace of mind. Here’s looking forward to numerous cozy fires 🔥 in our future!

We hired American Professional Chimney based on a recommendation from a neighbor; they were prompt on getting us scheduled and walking through options to improve the venting of my gas furnace and water heater, and equally quick to get installation scheduled. The install was very smooth and really well executed. The tough part was that I was dealing with very old unresolved permits on the home, and APC stuck with me through the entire process when the something seemingly simple became a bit of a paperwork nightmare (no not that form, no not that portal, that person can't sign, etc.). They were very patient and responsive through text and phone and email and did everything they could to help me close out the permit after the work (which in no way had any issues with the work done).
The liner made all the difference in my 1947 home's ability to draw properly, even on a very hot and humid day, and if they had not been to he upstanding communicative company that they are, I'd probably still be trying to navigate the permits.
We bought an even older home since then, so we will certainly hire them again! -
1st rate work. Replaced chimney and wood fascia. Removed 99.99% of debris. Would hire again.

I've had American Professional Chimney come out to my house each fall for the last four years. They are very professional and do a great job cleaning the chimney and making recommendations for repairs to keep my house and family safe. I worked with Stefan this time and he did a great job identifying a warranty issue on a prior repair they made. They took care of the warranty repair without issue. I plan to continue using them for many years to come.

I highly recommend this company. We had them replace our chimney crown and do minor tuck pointing on the chimney masonry approximately one year ago. Their work is still holding up and was very professional. The crew was clean, prompt, and quick. Most importantly this company was a pleasure to work with. We received several bids for work that wasn’t even needed on our chimney masonry. Their estimator took a look and recommended work that saved us thousands of dollars. They also provided an estimate on a fireplace insert that was half the price of other bids. We never ended up getting the insert because we don’t use our fireplace much, but if/when we do, this is the company we will call. It such a relief to find contractors who are honest and reliable, and somehow manage to make the process less stressful and expensive! Thank you!

I required a new flue and chimney fan as I'm in a condo and a typical set up won't draw. In addition I needed a firm seal for the summer to keep the hot air out. American did a great job on the rebuild and was very professional. I will certainly use them again for any future needs!

This was an enjoyable experience - from the estimate to the installation. I got 3 estimates for my chimney rebuild/repair. While this wasn’t the least expensive it was the best explained and most through in showing damages as well as explaining the process. I had a father/son team that worked well and would stop and explain what was happening when I had questions. Would highly recommend this company and will use for other projects.

I had two problems with my house. One- my chimney was falling apart and I had a brand new roof. Two- there was a big crack on the side of the house that I wanted fixed.
APCM came out, gave me an estimate. I asked about some other masonry things and was told I didn't really need to spend the money on those.
We scheduled a time and they came out around about the time they said they would.
The work that was done was not cheap, but I'm happy with it. The mortar on the side of the house, matches better than what another contractor did on the other side of the house and the chimney is not flinging random bricks at my head. I was concerned about my new roof and thankfully they didn't have to put any scaffolding up ($$$) because of the slope. It's been a couple of months and I have had no problems with the work done. -
We needed a new chimney flue liner installed in our 1911 row house but struggled to find a contractor confident of their ability to navigate the complexity of the installation. We even had one contractor who prepared a proposal for the work, took a deposit, but then refunded our money the day they started work because the installation team said they couldn't do it after all. Thankfully, we then contacted American Professional Chimney who provided first class service from start to finish. Stefan visited our home to inspect the chimney and quickly put us at ease with his knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail. He walked us through the complexity of the installation but also assured us of the expertise of the team that would complete the work. Stefan was right - Luis and Kevin are true experts. They are professional to work with, kept us well informed throughout, and took great care of our home - thank you! There were many occasions throughout this experience where we feared that we would never be able to use our fireplace again. Thanks to this team we can, and we cannot recommend them highly enough!

We enlisted American Professional Chimney and Masonry to install a gas fireplace insert in our second-floor master bedroom fireplace. They handled the installation of 60 feet of gas piping, multiple valves, chimney direct vent piping, and the unit itself. Their work was impeccable. Punctual, knowledgeable, competitively priced, and respectful of our home, they exhibited exceptional professionalism. Their friendly demeanor and organized approach were evident throughout the process. They diligently laid down drop cloths and cleaned up daily. We wholeheartedly endorse American Professional Chimney and Masonry and would not hesitate to engage their services again in the future

Stefan helped resolve a misdiagnosed issue with my fireplace and worked diligently to bring heat to my home during the coldest month of this winter. He was very professional, responsive and his customer service was unmatched! I highly recommend this company and especially Stefan for any of your fireplace repair needs.

Rudy and his colleague were great! They came out less than 24 hours after we called and inspected our fireplace. They were prompt, kind, honest, and answered all of our questions. We will definitely continue to use American Professional Chimney and Masonry's services in the future!

I replaced my water heater and that meant I had to get a liner installed in the furnace flue. I decided to get the adjacent fireplace chimney lined at the same time. It took three days to install a new exhaust duct for the furnace and hot water heater, removed the terracotta liner on the fireplace, and install the stainless steel liners and insulate the fireplace flue. They did a good job keeping the dust under control and cleaning up and the installation looks good.
I did have to call them back to fix the damper cable because the rebuilding of the chimney top moved the damper up about 4 inches and the cable no longer reached the bracket that holds the damper closed. I called them and they understood the issue immediately and sent two workers out the next day to fix it. They cut off the old cable and tied a new one on so it was long enough to use the bracket, but they did not adjust it properly so the damper was not fully closed when the cable was hooked to the bracket, and they left some of the frayed cable sticking out of the slug that connects the cable to the chain and handle. It was easy to use an allen wrench to adjust the location of the slug so the damper is fully closed and I used a propane torch to cut off the frayed cable end. This extra work is why I gave them 4 stars. I would use them again.
