I came home to a basement with a lot of water. I called HD Johnson,was quoted a price, and within 45 minutes, a workman, Dave, was at the door.
Several hours later, I had a new gas hot water heater. A great relief to get excellent service.

In my basement, I had an old galvanized pipe that started leaking with a steady drip. It was in a pretty inaccessible location between two joists above a duct, and I worried it would mean a lot of tearing things apart just to get to it. The guys from HD Johnson came quickly and pulled down only the framing and paneling they needed to expose it. They could have used a part they had with them, but it didn't fit perfectly so they went and got the right piece and installed it, and it's been dry since. The guys were neat and cleaned up after themselves and they always wore masks and foot coverings. They didn't try to make a major project out of it, and I was surprised how little they charged me for what they did.

I would definitely use them again. I got to H.D. Johnson though the manufacturer of my high efficiency unit (a Burnham Hydronics unit, of U.S. Boiler Company). The unit indicated an error code, and while I could restart it a few times, it kept failing with that error code, and eventually stopped working altogether. The manufacturer indicated who were the certified professionals for my area. In the past I had used a random plumbing/heating company to service this boiler and it had been a mistake: These are delicate machines and you do need people who know what they are talking about. I could see from the first minute that the people at H.D, Johnson were familiar with the unit and its components. They dispatched someone on next day, who tested the unit and found the possible issue with a blowing fan motor. Before recommending me to order the part, they checked with the actual factory who makes this unit to ensure that their diagnostic was right (they wanted to check if it could be something else). The diagnostic was spot on. The manufacturer said it was 99% chance the issue was caused by the defective part. After 10 years of good service, the electronics in that blower fan motor had failed. I got then the very professional install team of Jeremy, senior technician. He was a different technician that the person who did the diagnostic, and that comforted me in the idea that all H.D. Johnson technicians are well trained, and all have excellent technical knowledge of the issue they are dealing with. He arrived promptly. He engaged in a very neat and conscientious workmanship. Not only did he replace the part, but also proceeded to do a thorough clean of the unit (for instance, vacuuming carbon debris out from the combustion chamber), hence ensuring a more efficient work of the unit for the years to come. I am very satisfied with the installed part and repair. The boiler works really smoothly now. Should I ever need maintenance or repair, again I will definitely use them. They provided an extremely friendly service. It was not the cheapest but it was a very reasonable price. They got it done fast and with high quality and professionalism, which is what matters. This is why I recommend them.

I've been using HD Johnson for plumbing, HVAC, and water heater issues over the years, and the service has always been professional. But recently, we experienced a broken water pipe with uncontrolled flooding. HD Johnson was on the site within minutes and did an amazing job fixing the immediate and underlying issues. I couldn't be more appreciative.

These plumbers are responsive, knowledgeable, and experienced. I have used them for years and for some very difficult projects. Whether it was as big as a whole house plumbing renovation or as small as a disposal replacement, Dave Johnson and his various plumbers have been great to work with and reasonably priced.

Had a blower motor fail and Jeremy was very helpful, professional, and efficient.

We had an emergency in the middle of getting ready for a wedding reception. We made an emergency call, and a service person came in within the promised time. He did an exceptional job. In addition to fixing the problem, he gave us valuable lessons on how to prevent future incidents. Following the service, a representative of the company called us to assure that everything was alright. I highly recommend H.D. Johnson to all my family members and close friends.

HD Johnson is fantastic. They have been my plumber for several years now. Recently, they came out on a Saturday night when we had a leak. They repaired the leak and did all of the follow-up maintenance work as well. They get my highest recommendation!

H.D.Smith did an outstanding job for our home. They installed a mini split and were quick, efficient and extremely professional.

These guys are fantastic. We had a gas leak and they responded to our message at night on the emergency line within a couple of minutes. Jeremy came out the next day and assessed the problem and came up with a way to fix it. Jose and Yelize worked hard despite the freezing temps to fix the problem, and Jeremy checked in to make sure everything was set. I would call them any time, highly recommend.

I found it on the internet by chance. They were really good. They came and repaired the air conditioner. Their service was also very good. Jose was very kind and very professional. I definitely recommend this company. Thank you HD Johnson.

Jeremy Rivera from HD did a great job fixing two problems, and explaining all the issues along the way. Very customer friendly. Next time I’ll ask for him personally.

Recently our heater decided it had lived a nice long life and so right in the midst of cold temps in DC we reached out to our trusted local company HD Johnson. Jeremy came out to do the assessment. Jeremy was great and he offered a couple of options as well as his recommendation. Jeremy is knowledgeable about this subject and so we set up the install. Jose was awesome and he showed up bright and early with Marlon. They spent the day ensuring the old heater was removed well and the new one installed with expertise. They were a joy to have in our home and know that you’re in the best hands with HD Johnson. Tell Rhonda your challenge and she’s sure to get you someone who cares and will help you out!

Gouge left in my night stand right where work was done. Office manager did not stand behind this and was dismissive. I have to pay for the repairs now. It’s just sad that people aren’t honest. I would have been happy with a gesture - $50 off the bill or something.

The plumber had to enter my bedroom in order to get to my closet which accesses the back of the tub. So there is no question he was right by the side table that was gouged. I was charged by HD Johnson for caulking the overflow. There would be no way to access the back of the overflow except from my closet. So denying he was even in my bedroom is clearly not the truth. This company unfortunately lies. It’s too bad because if honest, it could have been solved reasonably. No investigation was made, just a rather abrupt phone call and I was out of luck.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a great experience with this company. To summarize my issues: They have a business model that is setup to OVERCHARGE customers.
The Details:
Esitmate was for $750... When work was complete it was close to 3 times that price. Person that came to perform assessment who was knowledgeable was not sent to perform the work, 2 individuals who were not extremely well versed (1 was an assistant that was needed - just watched the more season person do all the work or sit in the truck) were sent to perform the work. They charge hourly which is crazy since the guys doing the work made mistakes that had to be corrected on my dime. Like waiting to drain a plumbing system without opening a bleeder valve or installing a shutoff valve w/ bleeder, with the bleeder facing the ground.... SMH...

The service that I received was excellent. The service provider was on time, polite, explained what he thought best to do and was able to explain what other updates was needed to have done in my home to have a better running system.

Avoid avoid avoid. Charged 800 dollars to tell me that a bulb was broken and spent 4+ hours at my house “running tests” to tell me that it would be an extra 3000 dollars to get the issue fixed. I called the company to which they replied that it seemed like a lot of money that I was charged. Was told the owner would call back twice but never did hear anything. I’m not one to leave reviews but if I could help one person I was willing! I’d give them 0 stars if I could.

Lowe’s did a great job of cleaning the vents in my condo after I had major remodeling done in my unit. I appreciate the professionalism, courtesy and knowledge of the technician.

He clearly answered my questions and provided a before and after picture of the dust and debris which was vacuumed out of my house. He also helped me to change the filter on my unit.

The biggest difference I noticed is that I no longer cough when I’m directly under a vent when the unit turns on. I will refer this company to others who need the service. Thanks, Lowe’s!

Your guy knocked my washing machine's drain hose loose when he worked on my dryer and it got water everywhere...

Update: they contacted me and gave me a full refund. The tech admitted he knocked off the drain hose and thought he placed it back on properly. I appreciate them making an effort to make this right

Service was fantastic! I had my air ducts, fireplace and dryer vent cleaned. They hadn't been cleaned in 8 yrs and I have cats so you know they needed it. Eric from Lowes came out and was exceptional. He was careful in my home and did an amazing cleaning job - showing me before and after pictures. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Lowes.
