Was able to get same-day service (friendly scheduler) for a broken boiler. Technician was on-time and honest. We will definitely use again when our clunker finally gives out.

I have been a customer of Polar Bear for several years for both my own residence and a rental property. Friendly and reliable service and every effort made to come out when urgent due to very hot or cold weather when there are many other callers seeking service.

Thanks to Polar Bear our old Victorian townhouse in Georgetown got a first time central AC. I am very pleased with my experience and would like to explain why. I interviewed all spectrum of companies from big to small that got on my final list. Dealing with big companies you always get a marketing person first. His only goal is to get project as big as possible. Talking to small contractor who is doing everything by himself you understand that his horizon is just small. Polar Bear does not have a marketing department and the owner of the company is a high level engineer. Very interesting point about Joe that all my questions he answered from my point of view. Like what is really better for me as an owner. To the point like "don't rush into this, you can always add it later if you will really need it". Joe designed the whole system and two teams implemented the project. I talked to both team leads and they were professional and knowledgeable. Duct work took least space possible. It was put into closets and I did not see any changes in my rooms. I inspected the whole system with Joe and did not see any problems in installation like some customers mentioned before. I saw attention to details and thinking about others who will cover it up. I appreciate couple of things Joe threw in for free without even mentioning and I would like to let him know it did not go unnoticed. Joe also spent half a day trying to wake up my old water heater after they finished AC/heat pump work not saying a word that its failure to start has nothing to do with their installation. Again, the whole experience gave me the feeling like people did it for themselves. This is the main point. If Polar Bear will continue the same business will be great and customers will be happy.

Unprofessional and Rude.
1. Offered to respond same-day on the phone but then waited over the weekend to respond.
2. Wanted nearly $300 to do a diagnostic which had already been completed video'd and written up.
3. Was rude on the phone. Not interested in discussing. Hung up on me.

Dealt with Sherry... Probably wouldn't hire or recommend Polar bear to do the job if they were half the price of their competitors at this point. Good luck.

Customer Service? EXTREMELY POOR! Polar Bear replaced my 24-year old unit with a RHEEM in June 2016 when the AC failed. The new AC worked fine. Then winter came! To heat my small townhouse between Dec. and March 2016-17 my bills were $1637. In comparison, electric bills were less than half that, $765, using the old system the previous winter! After pleading phone calls, the office manager sent a service rep out twice. The first offered ridiculous, ineffective suggestions. The second tried a potential fix, but when it didn't work, Joe, the owner, refused to speak with me, discuss possible alternatives, or answer questions. As another winter approaches, I see no recourse but to find a RHEEM rep to get this unit fixed so I can afford heat. My experience with Polar has left me disillusioned, ripped off, and angry.

Very good , competent and friendly service. BUT problems with their billing. On that of 159 dollar , with I agreed with, they charge me but 110 for " nitrogen" ...all this for a 15 minute visit. This have to be adjust this price,otherwise they will one a client.

We love this company and have used them for everything from maintenance to installing new HVAC and heating systems. They are a small company that communicates well internally and is super attentive to their clients. Can't recommend highly enough.

Great service! Starting with the office who was accommodating and able to coordinate me with a technician in only a few hours (not sure if that is typical). Angel my technician was very pleasant and knowledgeable about my unit and was able to quickly troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Price was also reasonable and structure straightforward and explained to me. Many thanks!

From beginning contract stage to the complete installation and cleanup, everything I wanted and more. POLAR BEAR did my original new system when I moved up to central air. They did ductwork planning and equipment. Many years later, time to upgrade the new equipment. My idea of a great business is to welcome them in at appointed time, let them do their job, meet again hours later and after learning about the success, say good day and THANKS.

Polar Bear is honest and their pricing seems fair. They’ve never tried to get me to buy items we didn’t need. The same techs have been coming to our house for years … they must run a good shop to keep employees that long.

Polar Bear Air Conditioning and Heating Inc has been our HVAC service provider since 2013. Very professional and dependable service from the administrative office staff and service technicians. Angel and Alex are the best service technicians!!! The staff is very responsive to our needs no matter what the issue. We highly recommend them!!

This fall, when my 20 year old gas boiler would not fire up upon first use, I contacted Polar Bear to take a look. Their response was incredibly quick, with a tech dispatched on Monday afternoon based on a Sunday evening email. The tech arrived promptly, worked efficiently, was knowledgeable and willing to answer all my questions on boiler operation. Fortunately, the problem turned out to be minor (pilot light out), but it is re-assuring to know I can confidently turn to Polar Bear when I have HVAC needs.

I made the mistake of calling a different AC company to repair my system bc Polar Bear was super busy. I wasted a week dealing with the other company who in the end could not fix my system. One visit from Polar Bear and everything is working again. I will never NOT call Polar Bear again and wait however long it may take to get their technicians to my house. They are worth the wait!!

The technician was competent and kind. However, the cost of the service did end up being $200 more than several other quotes we acquired. We won’t use them again because it felt like they were taking advantage of their customers with pricing.

Polar Bear deserves EVERY STAR possible for the level of customer service, quality of work, and honesty that they provide to their clients. Joe Kelly, the owner, is genuinely one of the most knowledgable and helpful people we've ever worked with. You can tell that he truly cares about his clients and his team and that's what makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE because they all go above and beyond to actually meet your needs rather than just trying to sell you on some high-end unit.

We feel very lucky and thankful that we came across Joe and his team two years ago when one of our furnaces died during the middle of a horrible snowstorm. We had several companies try to overcharge us and up-sell us on more expensive units than we needed. Thankfully, Joe came out and provided us with an honest assessment of our needs and options and gave us an incredibly fair quote. His team installed the new furnace the next day!

Since then, we've gone back to Polar Bear to replace our second furnace and both of our AC units (all were 15+ years old). Each and every time, Joe gave us an honest assessment, a fair quote, and his team always came in and got the job done without leaving a trace (even in the middle of a snow storm and the pouring rain, they even brought their own shoe covers!!). They are always considerate and stand by their work! A huge shout out to Edwin, Rodolfo, John, Angel, and the rest of the team for such amazing work.

Our only wish is that Polar Bear provided other home services because it's difficult to find such trustworthy companies/contractors in DC. We will always use Polar Bear for our HVAC needs and would highly recommend them for yours, too!

I have used Polar Bear Air now on 2 separate occasions and have been very pleased with their service. They are very quick to respond and get a tech out for service to diagnose the problem and recommend what is needed. For 1 of the calls it was a loose wire and he showed us how to check it in the future to save the cost of a service call. Highly recommend.

Prompt, efficient service at a reasonable price. We needed an ancient heat pump replaced. Polar Bear responded in a few days with a proposal and did the work a few days later. The workers were pleasant, worked fast, explained everything to us (and answered our questions) and hardly made any mess at all (and cleaned up what they did create). The system has been working great and we would recommend them to anyone.

Polar Bear installed a ductless mini-split for us and they were some of the best contractors that I have ever dealt with. We needed to convert a sun room into a home office. A sales rep came out to discuss options and look at the space. He walked through all the details from where the unit would go to the conduit lines.
When the unit we ordered couldn't be delivered, they upgraded our unit at their expense.
