Downeast Chimney Sweep has done great work for me in the past, but you have to love a company that doesn't try to upsell you on service. I had inquired about a service that I was ready to pay for and they explained to me in detail why I didnt need it. A+

Lewis and Ross are true professionals and have cared for our fireplaces for years. They do great work and the fireplace always comes out looking great for the coming fire season.

As someone said, they don't try to sell you anything but educate you to make your ow decision. In fact they spent 20 minutes over the phone trying to help me diagnose a problem. They were extremely knowledgeable, gave me some hints and instead of trying to get me to schedule a time for them to come out ventured to say I might not need them. Amazing! Can't vouch for their workmanship since they have not come out yet, but I can vouch for their integrity.

Had Down east Chimney sweep come out this morning. Cleaning and inspection was thorough and neat. Ross was courteous and professional, took time to answer all my questions. Highly recommend their service.

I just spoke to Louis from Downeast and he gave me lots of good advice about chimneys and water heater drafting. He didn't try to sell me an expensive liner job, he didn't try to charge me a service call. He was just very honest and helpful. Based on that experience, I will definitely call Downeast for any future chimney needs.

The rain poured into family room through my chimney during a storm, so I was anxious to install a cap to the chimney. Contacted multiple companies, some quoted very high, some reply very slowly, until I found Louis and his company. The quote is reasonable and I am very happy that the whole work was completed in a short time, very professional and efficient. It is definitely recommended.

They came on time and cleaned my chimney. The owner was friendly and very pleasant to talk to, as was his son who also came to help.

They cleaned my chimney while the father inspected the hot water tank and boiler/liner. He gave me a heads up on some potential issues I might want to check out.

Jacob came and inspected our chimney for a possible oil-to-gas boiler conversion. We were expecting to need to have the chimney swept, but Jacob said it was clean and didn't need sweeping. We discussed the possible need for a metal liner if we wanted to convert to gas. After discussing our options, Jacob said no charge for the inspection because we live nearby. Thank you Jacob and Downeast for your help! We really appreciate it and will recommend you to anyone who needs chimney work.

I didn’t hesitate calling Downeast Chimney Sweep a second time when I needed my chimney swept. First, time they replaced my furnace liner and repointed the top of my chimney. And, the work was completed as desired. This father and two son team is professional, friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

After finding out that I needed a chimney company to make it possible to replace a pipe for my furnace, I got in touch with several companies to tell them I have no heat until this is done. Downeast Chimney Sweep are the best, most honest in the industry! I did my own research before I hired them and came to the conclusion that if you want an honest assessment of your chimney and quality work, this is the company, and I was proven right. In fact, our oil company asked who we were using to inspect our flue, and I said Downeast. The oil company said good, in their 40 years in the oil business, Downeast is the only one they trust. Downeast came in, inspected, gave us an honest assessment of what we needed and didn't need, did a thorough cleaning, and cleaned up the area as if they were never here. They are terrific!

To insert a new liner in my chimney and replace the old disintegrating cap, every other chimney company tried to upsell me with nonsense:

- Sealing for $2,000
- $4,000 for re-pointing I did not need.
- An extra $2,500 for some super-secret chimney liner...

These guys did a great, fast job, and when all was said and done charged me $800 LESS than quoted because the job turned out to be easier then they thought.

Downeast Chimney exemplifies good value, good work, and excellent service. Last year, Ross cleaned our chimney: he was punctual, pleasant, and efficient. This year, however, my positive feeling about this company was cemented further when I reached out to them by phone to ask for an opinion about a chimney concern that was coming from our condo neighbor’s chimney, but was impacting the air quality in my unit. Louis graciously listened to my tale and offered thoughtful ( and, it turns out—correct) advice. At the end of our conversation, he then offered to come and look at the problem if his suggestion did not work. His advice was both freely given and invaluable. I have not encountered such high integrity and customer service from a company in a long while. Do not hesitate to engage Downeast Chimney.

I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received from Jacob and his family that run this company. They showed up right on time, were clean and professional and were more than fairly priced for my chimney services. Best of all they did not try to upsell me with services I did not need. They are different in this regard to other companies. I would absolutely hire them again and I recommend others do also.

Ross of Downeast Chimney, family owned business, was thorough, knowledgeable and kind. He was very patient answering my questions about the chimneys. He inspected both chimneys and tightened the dampers to prevent leaks. After many other visits over the years by other companies, Downeast is my go to and would highly recommend. The visit was primarily for a safety check (aka did I need a liner for my 50 year old chimney?) and cleaning.

When I choose to hire people to help fix or maintain something for my home, I usually have lots of choices. Lots of companies claim talent and experience and offer a fair price. Sometimes a worker over delivers for what their estimate included. All these criteria were met by Downeast Chimney. I was lucky that as a company Downeast is fair priced and experienced and thoughtful how they might help my situation. However why I am writing this recommendation is to applaud the human interaction I enjoyed with Louis and his 2 sons Jacob and Ross. Whenever possible I look for people I can trust, people who keep their word, people who are respectful and honest like family or close friends. I was recommended to Downeast from someone who has worked in the chimney business. My chimney situation was complicated. If my interactions with everyone who I need to support my home to run well were like Louis and his 2 sons, I would be a very very happy camper.

I have been using Downeast Chimney for at least 15 years. They are reliable and professional. I have 2 older fireplaces and have had different types of work over the years, including regular chimney cleaning. Their prices are very reasonable.
