Don’t do any services with this company. Just terrible. They may do good work but can’t schedule or communicate properly with the customer.

I've had one of their techs, Chris, service our pellet stove for the last 5 years. Extremely knowledgeable and always gets us back up and running after and issue.

Small business but amazing ownership and staff. I went to Yankee in Middleton and they treated me with no respect and gave me no wiggle room, just about the money for them. I will go nowhere else and you shouldn’t either. I am an actual costumer. Thank you ACS...

This comapny installed the chimney cap for our house 4 years ago. Last week in a windy day, the cap was blown off from the chimeny and almost hit people on the street. I contacted the owner and asked them to come back to put the cap back. The owner told me that he had to charge a fee almost the same price as when it was installed because I am not in his service area.
This is rediculous. If we are not in the aera, he should have come to install the cap in the beginning. Plus, the cap was not steady enough to hold in the windy day.
The owner's attitude is very bad, I would never recommend this company to anyone.

I needed a new chimney liner. They came to my house in Peabody, charged $175 for an inspection which was looking up the chimney and taking photos. The $175 "10 minute inspection " does not get credited to the job if you hire them. Plus their quote was ridiculously higher than the local company I chose with "free inspection".

Called to have my chimney cleaned in the fireplace he looked at it said it doesn’t need cleaning tried to sell me very expensive chimney liner and some other masonry work which wasn’t needed then charge me $175 to do nothing will not use them ever again After this post I received a nice phone call from this company .apologizing and told me they would be here tomorrow and clean the chimney free of charge they could not have been any nicer . problem resolved!

ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS COMPANY!!!
The guy they sent to my house couldn't figure out how to remove by wood burning stove, never did, and told me he swept the flue "up through the stove" which I know is a 100% impossibility.
They never cleaned my other flue for the oil burner "because they didn't have time."
I called, told them I wasn't satisfied because the person they sent never cleaned the stove flue or the oil flue. They literally provided NO service at all. They never cleaned a thing.
I refused to pay their bill until they actually rendered a service, and they went and reported the unpaid bill to the credit bureaus to hurt my credit score. These people are literally the scum of the earth.

I sent an email asking to discuss the pricing and review of installing twelve (12) gas fireplace inserts into an existing commercial building. The woman I spoke to that called me back said that in order to come out, they would charge $90 just to show up, and if they did the job I could take it off the price. I said that this is a large job, and needed to be seen in order to be bid. She said it didn't matter.
Their office is 2 miles from the job location-2 miles! Apparently one should only call them if you are already resigned to using them-or you want to spend $90 just for someone to show up and give you an estimate. I have always thought that quoting a job was a part and cost of obtaining the business, but it seems for American Chimney Sweeps, it IS the business.

We called American Chimney Sweeps to clean our chimney and had them install an ash dump door after we were told there was not an accessible one. When people came to clean the furnace today they registered a draft fluctuating between -.004 and +.012 and noted that as the ash dump door had not been properly sealed and was installed much higher than normal ash/ exhaust had been flowing back into the furnace and house. We now need to dismantle the furnace in order to properly clean it as well as have this company rectify their mistake. Perhaps they can use the ash dump door that is in fact accessible from the basement after all. Additionally, communication with this company has been difficult and despite telling us they would be open on May 4th they remain closed and slow to respond.
EDIT- American Chimney has fixed the problems within a week and have sent two different workers to check on us. They have been very helpful in fixing this situation. -

I just moved in and was concerned about my new fireplace. I called American Chimney Sweeps to come inspect and clean it. He was on time and very professional. I showed him the fireplace and went ini the kitchen to let him work. One minute later he said "all set". I said you aren't going to clean it? "no need he said it's fine" No charge!! I couldn't believe it. I was so surprised. Often times companies charge a fee just to step in the door, not them. Funny that's the way it should be but usually is not. American Chimney Sweeps is great!

The worst. They came to install a new stove and dropped it (450 lbs stove) down my front stairs. It demolished the stairs, tile floor and wall. The owner didn't want to file a claim thru his insurance and nickle and dimed me on the materials needed (i.e. replace rug, etc.) to make me whole. It broke the tiles in the hall, but he wouldn't replace them because he deemed them "old". I should have sued instead of negotiating. The worst experience.
8/18/2022 - Response to the new owner: It was a battle to get them to fix what they did. Of course I was not happy, but I had to settle for it in order to move on and avoid court. I had to replace the broken tile floor they destroyed at my expense. I'm glad this is under new management now, good residence to the old. I hope you do better than what I got. All the best.

Jay and his team did an excellent job sweeping two chimneys.
Not only did they do a great job, with a professional demeanor for a reasonable price, they took a consultative approach to making sure I understand how things work with my chimneys, what to expect (and not to expect) and a host of other information to help make sure my family and I stayed safe and warm this winter and for winters to come. -

We were very happy with the chimney cleaning service provided by American Chimney Sweeps. I would have given 5 stars except that the chimney cap was not cleaned as well. Our experience found them knowledgeable, responsive and priced fairly. We were not sold anything that we had not asked for... There's a lot to be said for that!

I usually don’t post reviews however had them come to clean my pellet stove. On checklist is says gaskets need to be replaced the guy didn’t have it but said he will get it snd come back. Waited a few weeks called them yesterday, she called me back snd said the gasket rope would be like $53.00 which is fine, but also said it would be another service call for $200.00 after already paying $399.00 when they came out for 1 hour! Sorry would not recommend them at all spoke with several people about this, all agreed that I should not have to pay another service call!
