We used J&E on a referral from our builder. We were very happy with the results of our project. Their communication was great. Eduardo kept me informed of when they would be there, and the project was completed when he said it would be. Rain slowed things down a little, but that's New England for you. They are very knowledgeable on how to set the lawn up and what would look good. I have to say, it looks fantastic. I would highly recommend them and will be using them for future projects.

After seeing all the 5-star reviews, I can't help but feel concerned for anyone who works with this company in the future. I plan to update my review later with more details, but for now, I strongly advise against using this team for any large projects.

We began an entire backyard renovation in September 2023, including a pool, sports court, and pool house, which was supposed to be completed by June 2024. It's now September 16, 2024, and the pool is still unfinished. The pool house isn’t done, the fire pit isn’t completed, the barbecue area is incomplete, and the sports court was left as a concrete pad, which I had to finish myself. The pool leaks, its lights are broken, the fire pit has the wrong burner, and the electrical work is incomplete. To make matters worse, during the process, my well was damaged, they drove over my septic tank after being told not to, my water softener system was impacted when they ran some pressure test and realized they had done the pluming wrong. Overall very rough with the property existing system. I have yet to discover all the issues we were left with.

Ed has completely disappeared and no longer responds to messages. If you search online for "J&E Corp" beyond just the Google reviews, you’ll find others who’ve had similar experiences. We’re also considering further actions once everything is sorted and we can fully assess the situation.

You might see all those 5-star ratings and think I’m just an isolated unhappy customer. But please, let me offer you some important advice if you still choose to hire this team: Do not agree to pay in full at the start of a "milestone" that's how I ended up with 2 concrete pads for over a year that cost me $100K. You will notice how things are worded in the contracts. Pay only what you think is fair at the beginning of a milestone but keep some leverage to ensure they follow through and finish the work. Ed and his team work hard to get that initial check, but once they have it, their enthusiasm for finishing the job quickly fades.

This company mismanages its funds, so initially everything will be great, until money gets tights or issues pop up. You will notice that they will make decisions without consulting you make sure to keep an eye on what they are doing ...

I've had terrible luck with contractors -- until my landscape architect connected me with Eduardo and his crew. I had a hard deadline for landscape work so that I could list my house for sale. The former contractor made a mess of things and Eduardo not only corrected their mistakes but delivered the curb appeal that I needed on time. Things always go wrong, but he was always accountable, responsive and professional. The quality of their work is superb and I highly recommend them. I'll certainly reach out to them for projects on my next house.

After I posted this review, Eduardo reached out and offered me $1,000 to take it down. Honestly, I found this offer even more frustrating. It doesn’t come close to covering what we paid, and it shows just how unserious they are about actually making things right. Even after that, still no follow-up, no refund, no resolution—just silence. This only confirms everything I wrote below.

I honestly don’t know how people like this stay in business. Imagine if I, as a professor, took your money for your kids tuition, didn’t teach your kids, and just disappeared. I can’t understand how this industry survives—but I guess it’s because we keep giving people like this our business. We are the ones that legitimize this behavior.

On the bright side, we’re now looking to build that outdoor kitchen: if anyone has recommendations for honest, reliable contractors, we’re all ears. Would love to hear from folks who’ve actually had good experiences. Please contact me.

After taking several thousand dollars, Eduardo disappeared. We hired J&E Corp for storm doors over a year ago, paying them upfront in good faith. This decision was based on a positive past experience with Eduardo and his team, who had previously delivered quality results for a massive backyard renovation (six-figure project). Eduardo and his crew earned our trust, so we felt confident hiring them again. Unfortunately, that trust has been utterly betrayed.

Despite numerous follow-ups via text, phone calls, and emails, we received no meaningful updates—let alone a proper response. We are now left in disbelief that they took our money and completely failed to follow through. If you are considering hiring them, please ensure everything is in writing.

Eduardo failed to complete the job and strung us along with excuse after excuse—when he even bothered to reply. He repeatedly promised to "get back to us soon" or "just needed a little more time." One full year has passed, yet nothing has materialized—neither the work nor a refund, only empty words.

What makes this even more distressing is that I had strongly recommended Eduardo and J&E Corp to others after the success of our backyard project, often at Eduardo’s request. Now, seeing that others have reported similar scams over the last year, something is definitely going on. I deeply regret that my personal recommendation might have led others to experience the same issues.

Sadly, it appears we are not alone. Other customers have reported similar frustrations on Yelp, revealing a troubling pattern of incomplete projects and unfulfilled promises. This paints a deeply concerning picture of J&E Corp’s business practices. Our patience and good faith have been exploited, leaving us feeling robbed and profoundly disappointed.

Despite their initial promise and skilled crew, their recent inability to honor commitments has turned what should have been a straightforward project into an agonizing ordeal.

We are now preparing to file a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to hold J&E Corp accountable for their actions. If you’re considering J&E Corp, please think twice.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY-ABSOLUTELY THE WORST
We use J&E Corp for sone backyard work (grading, retaining wall, fencing) At first Eduardo seemed pretty on top of it. Once the work started, his story kept changing and the excuses started. We wanted to back yard grade level and he said it would be. When the work started, we questioned the leveling as the yard was still graded pretty steep. He said that we woudl have to pay extra!!!!!!!!!! This was in Late fall 2024 and he was going to come back in Spring 2025 and finish the remainder of the work (final grading, top soil, etc). After several attempts to call him, he would not answer and would text back saying he was away. We insisted that we had to get the work complete as we were installing a sprinkler system and getting hydroseed sprayed. As we were on a time crunch (after trying to reach him for 45 days) we got another landscaper to finish the work, costing us a lot more. (Eduardo already had our money). Once we got the new contractor, I posted a review on Google, that's when Eduardo called me asking me to take the review down. He offered to pay us back the money for the pending work if I would take the review down. I have not yet received the refund for the incompleted work!!! THis guys is dishonest. Do not use him unless you would like to lose your money.

J&E were one of the most professionally managed contractors and their work speaks for itself. The team showed up completely prepared to get to work, excellent communication, no surprises or delays. It was a pleasure doing business with them and we’ve already asked them to help with additional projects! Highly recommend J&E

Worked with them on two projects. 5-star experience. They were very quick to respond and execute. Quality is great and pricing is very competitive

    J & E Corp
Above and beyond is what I say about this company! I can’t praise them enough. From Eduardo who is easy to talk to and works with you to plan your perfect project, even if you are not exactly sure what you want done. He can offer concrete suggestions and great ideas. Between his knowledge and Juans expertise combined for a meticulous job done well, exceeded our expectations! Juan, the man with experience and knowledge. Juan and his team offers the whole service and follows through to get it all done perfectly. The crew is polite and work horses and puts the customer first. Again I can’t say enough about them and will be calling Eduardo for future projects! Thanks guys!!!

Absolutely avoid this company — hire literally anyone else.

We hired Eddie Henriquez / J&E to install a new vinyl liner, redo our patio, and add a heater. The job was supposed to take 3–4 weeks starting in late April. We are now well into the next summer, and the results are a nightmare.

Liner issues: The liner was installed terribly — wrinkles everywhere, sharp spikes underneath, and the condition is visibly getting worse. Every time I look at it, I think of this company. I have full photo and video documentation.

Plumbing & water problems: After they finished, we started losing water. They cut our waste pipe, and to this day I’m not sure if the leak was ever properly fixed. The two returns that do work bubble or fizz oddly. I’m relieved I didn’t pay for their initial water delivery, because it would have literally gone to waste. They also had to retrench more than once because they jumped the gun — pulling out pavers and digging trenches again — which likely caused further damage.

Heater never delivered: We spent a ton on electrical to prep the space for a heater that never arrived. Months of “3–5 day” promises went nowhere.

Refund promise broken: After repeated follow-ups, Eddie agreed to refund us a very reasonable portion of the cost in four installments starting toward the beginning of the year (around April–May at the latest). We gave him a lot of leeway because we doubted we’d get anything if we went public too soon. Here we are in August: we’ve only received one payment. He occasionally replies to my payment inquiries but now claims work is “slow” so he can’t pay.

Bottom line: hiring them cost us money, time, and peace of mind. The workmanship is poor, deadlines mean nothing, and promises — both for work and for repayment — are not kept. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.

The deck they did was good but completely messed our pool up.

Note to reader: I’m giving J&E 4 stars instead of 5 because while I'm ultimately happy with the end result, there were a few things I was not happy with and that I think are important for people to know about. But after speaking with Ed I do believe these issues have been or will be resolved in the near future.

So that said...I hired J&E last summer to renovate my backyard. I signed the contract and made my first payment on Feb 24. I told them I needed the backyard done by end of May because I was hosting a large event the first week of June.

Work started May 24. Most of the hardscaping was done by June 9 but it wasn’t until Nov 6 that the entire project was completed. I was told the work should take 2-3 weeks. It took 5.5 months.

I have two main issues with J&E: Poor communication skills and a lack of attention to detail.

    POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I lost count of the number of times I was told the guys were going to come by but they never showed. Or Ed would tell me he would get back to me shortly with a quote or samples or pictures and he simply never did.

And even though I said I preferred that he over communicate with me he constantly under communicated. He said most of his clients preferred to be hands off. I said I was not one of them. But that didn’t change his approach to how he worked and communicated with me.

A LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL
There were significant issues with the hardscaping and softscaping that had to be corrected.

    1. I had them install granite steps leading up to the sunroom. After they installed them there was a 9.5” drop from the back door to the first step. I almost killed myself stepping outside the first time. He claimed, “it’s common, typically we leave the step high like how it is now”. Needless to say we had to add another step.
    2. The walkway pavers were not parallel with the house. I had to point this out and they had to reset them.
    3. They weren’t going to install edging around the peastone shed base. I had to point out that it needed a border of some kind to contain the peastone.
    4. They dug trenches for the irrigation and left them exposed for weeks creating tripping hazards.
    5. Prior to completing the gas connections they capped the lines with duct tape. As a result water and dirt got into the lines and had to be flushed out.
    6. The gas line to the firepit was folded up in such a way that it got pinched and a permanent crease formed and they didn’t properly cap that line either so water and dirt got into it.
    7. Ed said he would bring samples of the pavers a few days before installing them so I could see them in different light but they only brought them the day of the install.
    8. They put too much peastone between all the pavers to the point the peastone is flush with the top of the pavers and almost flush with the top of the metal edging. As a result stones are constantly being kicked onto the pavers and into the mulch beds.
    9. They put too much mulch to the point it runs over the metal edging and into the peastone areas. They also put too much mulch at the base of some of the plants, suffocating them.
    10. Some of the plants were not planted in a straight line or equally spread out like the design called for.
    11. His irrigation sub-contractors didn’t bury the irrigation lines well enough. You can see about 50% of all the lines now. And the back flow system had a crack in it. Ed has told me they've replaced this sub which I believe is the right thing to have done.

If you decide to work with J&E be as upfront as possible about what you want done and when it needs to be done, monitor the work closely, be patient, and be prepared for the possibility of them making commitments they can't keep.

Contacted J&E to quote a walkout basement retaining wall that had collapsed. Their number came in mid-range but I was impressed with the photos from other projects and talking to Ed about the hurdles (I.e. septic field and tank) and how he would approach the job, I was impressed enough to use them. They showed up with an army of guys and did the whole job in almost a day. Everything came out as I wanted, and it’s very well constructed. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out and the speed in which they did it. Easy communication and fair to deal with. I would use them again without hesitation.

Eduardo and his team were fantastic! We got 3 estimates on a patio design that we wanted done, and theirs came in the middle of the other two. We decided to move forward with J&E due to their positive reviews online and extensive portfolio of similar work done. We're very happy that we did. It has been 8 months since the work was done, and everything still looks great!

    Wonderful work
Very professional crew. They completed the job in a timely fashion and were kind and personable. Despite incredibly hot conditions they worked fast.
Unlike many other crews who have worked in my home, they were gentleman. No one smoked on the property and they kept everything tidy.

    5

Ed, Juan and the rest of the team did a great job. We were looking to have an existing patio in the backyard connected with our driveway and a crushed stone shed pad installed. It all came out exactly as we envisioned. They did everything in one day. Couldn’t have gone smoother. Some photos are attached (need to work on that grass next!).

    5

The crew is amazing. They don’t miss a thing. Our yard is pretty large and they clean it and maintain it efficiently. We have had their services for years now and would highly recommend them.

    5

Mike and his crew always do a great job with my fall cleaning. His prices are very reasonable. I also use Mike for my snow plowing and pest control when needed. He's an honest, reliable local small business owner who I highly recommend!

I’ve worked with Modern Landscaping since 2021. Mike and the Modern Landscaping crew are always professional, resourceful and dependable. They offer a range of services for all 4 seasons and the work is quality. I recommend Modern Landscaping for any size home.

    5

Mike and the Modern Landscaping crew are top notch. They are a very high end company that has all of the tools and staff to tackle any landscaping needs you have. They are responsive, dependable and very reasonably priced. Hiring Modern for all of our needs for all four seasons was one of the best decisions we have made as homeowners.

You would think that while driving a company truck with a load in the back blocking the back window, they’d use turn signals on the highway and not drive aggressively.

    5

Great service and very focused on their attention to detail!

Talented wonderful crews! Very pleased with new retaining wall and pavers!
