My chimney turned out to be one of there most difficult jobs they saw in years. Drew was there everyday working from sun up to sun down to get the work done. Amazing service, fast turn around, and quality work. If your looking for a good contracting experience with a expert works look no further.

Never showed for appt. and didn't call. The person that answered the phone and scheduled clearly didn't know what she was doing and seemed confused when I asked questions. Will never use them again after doing so in the past for inspections. Go elsewhere.

To Mike and Drew the crew guy.. I actually recently moved into a new small house with a chimney in the Worcester area in July. I called mike cause they been consulted in the property before.. anyway, Mike did a great inspection and told me what it needed to get the fireplace going. They actually were able to accommodate my house in few days after the first consultation and Drew came in and did the work that needed to be done. They also showed me to start and do a fire for first time. ( never had or lived in place w chimney so they took the time to show me). The price was not bad for what he did and Drew did it all by himself (OMG). He worked well very professional , explained things to me as I am not a fire expert by any means nor a fireplace one either. I feel comfortable in having them come in and servicing the chimney, cleaning it and absolutely would highly recommended this crew and Mike and Drew to anyone that is looking.. please look no further. Modern Energy install a mini split system two years ago and I love my units. No more putting units in my window at the beginning of the season. Game Changer! Today Modern Energy sent their technician Will for a follow up cleaning and maintenance check. Wil was very professional and very thorough. Wil took the time to show me different accepts of the units. Without even asking he respectfully took his shoes off which I so appreciated. I highly recommend Modern Energy to everyone considering a HVAC system! Thank you Wil and Modern Energy. Look forward to seeing you again NEXT Year.

We needed a heater replacement and after the Mass Save audit and meeting the Modern Energy team at the Worcester Home Show, brought them in to scope a full HVAC system. Ryan went above and beyond in addressing questions, going so far to bring in an engineer to evaluate existing ductwork for the system upgrade, and explained why that would not be an option (code & structure issues, all legit). The installation team that we worked with - Sean, Serg & Anthony as well as Brendan and the staff electricians -- were courteous and professional. And they worked through the June heat wave, which was above and beyond especially given that much of the work was in the attic on the worst days. Our questions were answered along the way and we received a walkthrough of the system including when & how to install new air filters every 6 months (probably more frequently for us since we have cats).

The HVAC team also coordinated with the Insulation team to come in right after the new system was installed and update the insulation - it is a separate team from the HVAC team and made it SO MUCH EASIER than trying to coordinate between two companies.

One more shout out to Lori in the office who worked with me on the final invoice documentation so that we could also file for rebates through NextZero.

The system has been in place and operational for the past 2 weeks and we are thoroughly pleased with the results!

Will came to do an annual cleaning and system check on our whole house mini split system installed by Modern Energy. We have 7 indoor heads with 3 outdoor units powering them and it has been working perfectly since originally installed. Will was professional and very informative about the whole process. He said our system was in good condition and gave it a clean bill of health ready for another season.

Even before we decided to hire Modern Energy, our sales rep, Dan, explained the whole process, including the available $10,000 rebate and zero percent payment plan, with no hard sell whatsoever, that we didn't bother getting other estimates for the heat pump and mini splits that we wanted to install. I don't know if their prices are higher than than that of other companies, but if they are, I would recommend you hire Modern Energy anyway. It's worth the extra money! Dan was both competent and friendly, and he kept us informed every step of the way. I can't imagine any better customer service. The installation team was the same way, clearly competent and friendly, explaining anything we needed to know. I can't say enough about how positive our experience was with Modern Energy!

We had a great experience working with Modern Energy to install mini splits into our house. They helped us through the whole process from getting the rebate from the state of MA through the installation process. They showed up on the day and time they were supposed to and did not take very long to finish the job. The workers were clean, professional, friendly and answered all of our questions. I especially liked that Modern Energy applied for the rebate after deducting the amount from the balance owed. I would use them again!!!

I was so pleased with all of the service we received. Jimmy and JV were amazing. Everything was installed to perfection and when everything was completed they took their time explaining how to use the units. They were very patient in answered all questions and did not rush us through. When the job was done everything was cleaned up both inside and out. Thank you for a job well done. Two of the nicest and most knowledgeable technicians I have ever worked with.

Two years ago I had Modern Energy install Heat Pumps into my home. For the past two years they have been running efficiently as they should.
Today I had they come out to service them. William Normandin came to do the service, he was very pleasant and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He was very efficient in servicing the units making sure that everything is running as it should be.

UPDATE on 26 May 2025...
Was cleaning around the yard and thought I'd go pay a closer attention to the repair that modern energy carried out. And lo and behold, more evidence of a shoddy job. See attached pic, which shows the bent tabs of the outdoor condenser unit cover. Very similar to how a stupid auto shop overtighten your lug nuts with an impact, the crew crew were lazy and instead of hand tightening the delicate screws, used an impact. If attention to detail is what you care about, save yourself the trouble. This sort of shoddy work gives you sleepless nights, then stock up Ambien :)

I waited for a full year and experience with an out of warranty service call to really leave this review. In short, avoid the company, not technically competent folks. These guys just got authorized with the mass saves heat loan program and that's how they get their business. During installation, I cut them some slack because they could not get their Fujitsu heat pump to work with the smart thermostat. As a result, I have three thermostats in my house because the heat pump they said was incompatible. This clearly shows they don't really understand the heat pump they are selling or installing. Then exactly after the warranty expired, had to call the guys for service because the heat pump failed. So for this call, the billing was thus. $149 for coming to take a look, and they removed the part during the visit, but still charged me an hour of labor. And I was next to the crew installing the parts. So I had an accurate sense of time it took. And get this. They charged 2 hours to be on the phone with Fujitsu to get a service ticket number. Now the question you would ask is why would any smart person have their tech service folks wait on the phone. It's akin to a surgeon or a dentist checking you in at the reception. Isn't that why you have a front office person and have it as a cost of doing business. Anyways. To switch out a fan motor and connect a thermostat, they charged $945 in labor. This is almost 8% of the cost of the 5 ton unit installed . It gives you an idea how they recoup the money one way or another. To take the fan out, they had to unscrew 3 bolts and 6 screws on the unit cover. This will give you an idea of the frivolousness of the charges. I understand reasonable cost of doing business and a price gouging strategy. This seems the latter. I typically don't waste my time leaving negative reviews on businesses, for I believe in capital market dynamics taking care of those with misleading practices. But in this case, even if I help a single family from signing on a mass saves heat loan and dump it on these folks, I would consider my duty fulfilled. Often times folks rush to leave a review, and I believe it best to wait for the equipment to go past warranty and after you have paid the vendor, to assess the true colors of service. And do not get swayed by the 10year warranty on the unit, labor is only a year. And you will end up cheaper paying for parts yourself and going with a reputed company for repair. It will be a lot cheaper as these folks price gouge.

And I was transferred to the owner who essentially ended up explaining this is how he does business, i.e. charge you $150 an hour in labor while his service folks are waiting on a customer service line to get a ticket number.
