HVAC reviews in Eagan, Minnesota

The technician who came out was very courteous and helpful. The folks on the phone were helpful in scheduling an appointment. HOWEVER, the technician tried to sell me a new motor after discovering that my air conditioning unit fan was blowing backward. He said this would cost over $1K and was the only way to fix the problem. When I looked up motors for my brand of AC, I found them to be around $300 online. I asked him why it would cost over $1K when the motor costs a couple hundred. He mumbled something about “the cost of doing business/the cost of the van/the cost of me” but couldn’t really explain the $700 difference. So I got a second opinion with a smaller lesser known company in the area. They took one look at the unit, switched two wire cables to the capacitor, turned it on and the fan immediately began running the correct way. Said there was nothing wrong with the motor or the fan and I’d probably be fine for several years to come. Saved me $900 to work with someone honest. Can’t recommend Bob Boldt at all.

My A/C went out on the hottest weekend of the year and I know Bob Boldt HVAC was busy with a lot of customer calls. When Sam came out, not only did he fix the issue but he took the time to explain everything to me. He also made recommendations on settings and got my A/C working great! He was so nice and professional! Bob Boldt HVAC will be my first call every time!
-
Sam was very efficient, knowledgeable, and patient when he had to answer many questions that came from a curious but clueless client. The price for the thermostat was reasonable and cleanup was impeccable.
-
Sam was great! He was on time. He did a diagnostic of our furnace problem and gave us a written estimate in a timely manner! We would definitely use his services in the future!
-
Joel and Sam were on time, professional and courteous. They began the repair on Friday afternoon, but it ended up taking longer than expected and Sam came back Saturday morning to finish so that we would have A/C over the hot weekend. Went above and beyond.
-
Joel from Bob Boldt HVAC was able to diagnose the problem with my garage heater. He is always on time, knowledgeable, and explains things very well to someone who knows little about HVAC.
-
Sam was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable- gave me lots of good information about all the maintenance he was performing and was friendly and professional. Gave me recommendations on actions I may want to take to improve my hvac system but was not pushy about them which I appreciated.
-
I have been using Bob Boldt for many years and they are awesome. Joel really knows his stuff. It is great to know that you are using a reliable company when it comes to appliances that use gas.

So we had Joel from Bob Boldt HVAC out to our home yesterday due to our furnace not running properly. Joel made the decision to tag out our furnace due to a high CO2 reading and informed us we needed to replace our 10 year old furnace to the tune of 8K. I proceeded to ask Joel to leave our house so we could have another HVAC company come and give us a second opinion on our furnace. I sent a text to our plumber that we trust and use on a frequent basis, he immediately referred us to Ed's Heating out of Woodbury. I called Ed and he agreed to meet me at our house to take a look at our furnace. Upon arrival, Ed immediately started to troubleshoot our furnace. Upon testing for CO2, running the furnace on high, which Joel did not do, Ed found our CO2 count between 34 and 40, not above 400 like Joel described. Joel never tested the CO2 with the furnace on high. Ed informed us that you will get a high CO2 reading while running the furnace on low. Ed continued to work on our furnace, spending the time to go through sensors, and all of the condensation equipment, Joel did not do anything further than test the CO2 levels while running the furnace on low. After cleaning a clogged hose and putting things back together, Ed was able to get our furnace back up and running to the tune of $300. I will admit that our furnace did need to be cleaned, so what turned out to be a standard service call saved us from having to replace our furnace. I've read that HVAC companies will take advantage of customers in situations like ours, somehow I knew we needed a second opinion and I'm so glad we took the time to have Ed from Ed's Heating out to our home, he has a new satisfied customer. Joel, I'm not sure what your story is, maybe you're young, maybe a chauvinist when it comes to dealing with women, either way, you need to spend the time to learn how to troubleshoot. Throwing a red tag on a furnace was the Easy way out. To anyone who reads reviews, be aware, an HVAC company could be swaying you to a "new" furnace when all you simply need is a service call. Bob Boldt HVAC, you need to spend the time and train your technicians properly. After this experience, I have never felt more compelled to write a review for others to see.

There are so many HVAC companies to choose from that it is difficult to make a good decision. I decided right from the start that I didn't want to call the big guys, the ones on TV all the time. So I started to search for a smaller company with personal service. That was a good choice. I got estimates from 2 others and they were both close. I selected Bob Bolt HVAC based on their representative. Joel was very friendly and knowledgeable. By the time he surveyed our home and discussed things with me I had made up my mind that he was a person I wanted to do business with. We made a date and they were right on time. Sam & Charlie installers were just like Joel - friendly and knowledgeable. They were very respectful of my home and my questions. I liked watching them and could see how carefully they were installing and adjusting everything.
I would say that from beginning to end, everything was exactly what I had wanted. We will use them again. -
These guys are amazing and very professional. They helped us out with our mini splits a couple years ago, this time it was the boiler. We are customers for life. Special shout out to Sam ,thanks for your attention to detail.

Installed a new furnace 3 years ago. Had a different company come in to do a Systems check. Found that gas pressures were not set correctly and questioned how they ran the intake and exhaust pipes were run. Also had the city inspection person question the same thing. He said it was within guidelines but had never seen it done the way they did it. I would probably not recommend this company to anyone.

Paid for a whole new HVAC last year to be put in, over 15k in services. During install the tech put a hole in my dry wall, he mentioned it offered to patch it, I didn't really care it's just drywall. But the patch was not the greatest, ended up re-doing it my self, not really why I'm giving 1 star.
They were severely short handed on install, the humidifier was never connected on the day of the install.
Next, they rerouted my hrv to support the new system, after doing as such the system is making massive amount of noise in my living room, which also doubles as a home theater.
I called to get this looked at, they dispatched another tech.
He was able to resolve the water issue, but than sent me a bill for 1000$ to add 1 foot of extra tubing to fix the noise for equipment that was moved for the install. I asked them to reevaluate since this was an installation issue and the parts are what 40$ for HVAC tubing?
I've followed up twice both times told they will talk to Bob and get back to me.
Clearly, Bob doesn't value my business to even try to make right. I got your go away price message very clearly.
I've reached out twice to resolve this and have given you ample time to reach back to me. As I hate leaving bad reviews. -
Very professional, cooperative and friendly scheduler and HVACC tech.
I had questions about the furnace (we recently bought the house) and the tech took the time to carefully answer them.
He also quoted me a couple of things but he said they were optional and not necessary. I loved that he didn't try to use pressure tactics to upsell me when my system does not need them.
And they were competitively priced.
I will defintely hire them again in the spring for the A/C tune-up. -
As always, service was wonderful. Joel went through all the codes and evaluated all the furnace components to ensure he fixed our issue. He was attentive to our observations and was easy to work with.
The AI bot, Dane, was a new experience for a small business customer connection. It recorded everything I said and scheduled appropriately. It also described the pricing for regular and emergency service so I was not surprised in the end. It was a good experience.
However, the call had background noise from what sounded like a call center which through me off. It didn’t make sense if it was a bot working with me. Lastly, and this is just a reaction on my part, I was unable to make that personal connection that I like when calling for service. Dane didn’t allow interruptions or have joyful conversation. But that’s okay - it will take experience to get used to.
Thank you for the wonderful service! -
During the coldest week of winter, the heating coil on my heater went out. The part was on back order across the entire country. Wenzel was able to obtain it a full week faster than the other companies I called- and came out and completed the repair in less than 2 hours. The technician also explained to me everything he was doing in layman’s terms. The heater has not had any issues since the repair, which was about a month ago.
Thank you guys for your great work, I am glad to be a customer. -
