David converted my 2012 Chevy Express 1500 Van for me three years ago. I had ideas of what I wanted and David converted my " rough idea" into an OMG travel van. Three years later I still enjoy opening the side doors and jumping in for the next adventure.

From the beginning, there was a very open and honest discussion about my ideas and his suggestions or changes along the way. If a concern arose David would contact me with photos to present the situation and how to alleviate it. He also sent progress pics which were always fun to see.

I was always impressed with the quality work that he was putting into my van. What was also impressive was the quality of equipment and parts that David used. David's way of suggesting a better part was never intrusive. What he suggested made sense and would often times provide better future options. I never felt like he was just upping the price.

The wood work inside the van is still magnificent. Custom cabinets and the way he tied in the choice of wood stain with other finishing materials was pure beauty. To measure the quality and strength of his work; I live in Northern MN on the edge of wilderness. The 7.5 miles I drive on are from an abandoned railroad line used during the previous lumber business. They've tried to improve the road but it's maybe nice for a week or two then it's back to the historical century old potholed surface. The Van's structure is still tight and nothing has come loose. My guess is the van will die and the inside conversion will still be in top shape.

Months later, I came back to David and had him install solar panels and complete the wiring throughout the circuitry. This is an example of how his suggestions for future additions were implemented during the initial phase of construction.

These days it's rare when you get quality service at a fair price. Overall, I was pleased with the pricing. It was fair and he factored in parts that I purchased myself prior to him starting the work. Everything was upfront which alleviated any misunderstanding later on.

I've enjoyed the van for the years that I've had it. From day one up till today I have trusted the experience.

BTW, this van is my only vehicle and so the miles have mounted up and still it's working like a charm.

David is a multi-talented and quality craftsman. During our 2021 Ford Transit van build, he introduced us to materials and products and was also willing to try new things that we brought to him. He is a designer and a builder and helped us think through some features and come up with innovative solutions. He was professional and so enthusiastic about our project. We have over 250 nights and 40,000 miles on it, and it’s still performing like the day we picked it up!

If you are looking for a full van build out or mods for your rig, I highly recommend David and his team at Quality Adventure Custom Vans. As an owner of three different vans over the past 25 years, I would not trust anyone other than David to build out or modify our van. Not only is David a master carpenter by trade but he understands and has in depth experience with the electrical specifications and applications that are critical to a solid van build. David recently helped us add some new bug screens and a winch system to our front bumper. He was able to get us scheduled in a reasonable time frame, and his work was impeccable. Thanks David for being an all around great person but even more importantly, someone I can trust to get our van repairs and mods done right the first time.

I believe I was one of a handful of their first van builds in 2018 (2017 RAM Promaster 2500). The build process was great! They listened to what I wanted in the van and provided options to build it to my needs/wants. Quality Adventure Vans had open communication during the process and were quick to respond to my questions via phone or email. The quality of the build is outstanding! I have driven over 130,000 miles and spent hundreds of nights in the van. Nothing about the build has gone wrong in all that time. And, they have been available and responsive to any upgrades I have wanted over the years. To this day, I know I can pick up the phone or write an email and get in touch with David right away. I still have the van and love every minute of freedom it has brought to me in my exploration of the USA.

Years ago, I brought in a cargo van, a piece of graph paper with rough drawings, and hundreds of ideas and hopes for the vehicle that would make my retirement dream come true. I felt the David listened well and understood my wishes and what things were essential and what could or should be tweaked a bit. When I drove it out, it had everything I wanted! I’ve had many wonderful months long trips and David has been super helpful in keeping things great. Aside from his meticulous building skills and problem solving abilities, this project benefited from his clear communication. I really appreciated the cardboard mock-up which allowed for visualizing the build before a single cut was made. I am still enjoying my van voyages and intend to for years to come. I give David and Quality Adventure Custom Vans all the highest recommendations!!

Really appreciate how they worked with us to find the right materials- especially a deep bathtub. Really great about communicating any changes to work orders or budget. They were in the middle of the job when Covid hit and addressed the demands of the condo association as well as our safety concerns. The tile setter was a true artist. On the whole they were responsive, efficient, skilled, honest, and reasonably priced. Would recommend them highly.

Haven Builders team did a fabulous job repairing our condo ceiling from water damage from above. Their team was great to work with!

Part 1:

My husband and I hired Haven Builders to remodel our kitchen and install wood flooring/paint in both the living room and kitchen. We hired them in January 2021, but due to delays from COVID they officially started the remodel in April with an estimated end date in July. In April we had 90% of our materials onsite. We also expressed that we were okay with delays (we understand the unexpected happens) but preferred that the project was completed no later than Aug. 31 as our wedding was in Sept. They assured us with materials onsite the remodel shouldn’t take that long.
Initially, my husband and I were excited to have Haven Builders work on our project. Since my husband and I designed the kitchen, we talked with their rep about how communication was important to us and quality of work. They assured us they excelled at those qualities and were excited to work with us on our design. We took care of ordering cabinetry, granite countertops, wood flooring, etc. Most of what Haven Builders had to do was simply install the items.
We started noticing lapses in communication almost right away. Subcontractors would arrive and not know what they were supposed to work on, where they were installing items, or they couldn’t complete their job because electrical work or another contractor hadn’t come in prior to them. For example, the cabinet installer arrived to find he could only install one cabinet because electrical boxes had no covers/were exposed. My husband and I answered questions the best we could and walked many subcontractors through the design plan, so they knew what to do. It became very clear that Haven was not paying attention to the project/communicating with their subcontractors and Haven themselves didn’t know what stage the project was in and continuously ask us what still needed to be done.
We wish we could say their quality of work was better. Protective covering was not placed over the newly laid wood floor despite the material being on site. This resulted in deep gouges and long scratches in the brand-new wood floor from other contractors doing their work on a floor with no protective covering. After noticing all the scratches and gouges my husband and I laid down the covering ourselves. Painters also neglected putting protective coverings down. This resulted in paint and plaster splattering/drying onto carpeted areas or personal items. I would say the painting quality was subpar and painters had to come back multiple times to go over large spots they missed. All outlet covers and switches were simply painted over instead of removed. This resulted in all the switches and outlets being ruined. A cabinet was hung upside down, squeaks below the wood floor were not fixed despite us indicating where they were on the subfloor, wood floor trim was left outside in the rain, carpet we were not planning on replacing was cut improperly in multiple places to access the sewer line, plaster was not sanded down to smooth before painting, trim pieces were installed poorly, and expensive cabinetry was gouged/chipped and poorly patched instead of being replaced. We wish this was it….
Haven Builders integrity is poor as well. When we started noticing gaps in their communication and damages to the kitchen, we brought this immediately to Haven’s attention in hopes it would get resolved. To their credit they did meet with us and listened, but nothing changed. During one of the meetings, when we hopeful/assured changes would be made, Haven told us they were falling behind on their revenue goals for the quarter and asked if we could aid in an advanced payment. We agreed to the large amount of money they needed, however as soon as we gave them the payment, work ceased on our kitchen for about a month. It was never communicated that they would take a break or when they would return. Funny thing, they texted us on our wedding asking to get into our house to work on the kitchen again….

I hired Haven Builders for a bathroom remodel. Was impressed with the timeliness of the process as well as the communication. The finished product was exactly how I imagined- beautiful! Would highly recommend and will use them again for my next project!

We received several bids for removing a row of cupboards and rebuilding the soffit plus ceiling repair. Havens bid was clear and concise with no hidden surprise fees, plus it was a great value for the work. The crew did a great job and even mopped the floor afterwords!! Would definitely hire them again. They were on time, explained the process and were easy to deal with.

Elijah and his 5-man crew took just one day to replace the roof on our Eden Prairie home. It looks beautiful and all messes were cleaned up in a timely manner. From start to finish, working with Haven was straight-forward and a positive experience. These guys are very hard workers despite the summer heat and the fact that they had to man-handle the shingles to the roof (wires across the driveway prevented them from using a lift). Very careful and precise in their work. The new roof looks great and comes with a terrific warranty!

We had a really good experience with Haven Builders, & would definitely recommend them to others looking to work with a genuine group that provide good quality work. Some room for improvement is certain for a young company ( communication ) but this issue was addressed within reason.

This was the most convenient, painless estimate I have ever experienced. Go on Haven’s website, select the time, and get an email confirmation with meeting invite a few minutes later. No calling a contractor and leaving messages or emailing for later follow up.

The Haven rep then showed up as scheduled the following week and listened intently to understand our basement remodel objectives. I then received a fully itemized estimate within a few days. Great overall experience.

The folks on the Haven crew were friendly and professional across-the-board. Dave listen to our vision of adding a bedroom and master bathroom and expanding an existing bathroom and made it a reality, beautifully! The experience of living in a house while it’s being renovated can be taxing but the haven crew made it painless. We would definitely call them again for any more work we need done and highly recommend them.

Haven did a wonderful job with demolition of a deteriorating 3-season porch and replacing two sets of patio doors with new windows. They patched up all interior and exterior details - today, you cannot tell that a two-story porch structure had ever been there.

Eli lead the initial consultation and managed the project through to completion. His advice on prioritization of specific work during consultation was insightful and the regular updates communicated during the project was much appreciated. The quote and final billing given was very fair for the work requested. Thank you!

Evaluation of Paris Painting and Haven Builders project

In May of 2021, Paris-Painting hung a flyer on our front door. We knew we needed to have our house painted, so we called for a consultation and estimate. It is now the middle of August, and the house has not only been repainted, but their associate company, Haven Builders, has replaced our roof and gutter covers and repaired an ongoing leak at one of the corners of our roof. We have nothing but praise for these companies. Paris-Painting employees recognized the signs of hail damage to one side of our house, so they inspected the roof and encouraged us to file a claim for hail damage to our roof. We did so, and the claim was approved. They knew what steps were needed to negotiate the forms and claims and explained them to us each step of the way. Their employees were unfailingly knowledgeable and polite. At no point did we experience any pressure. The workmen were careful of our foundation plants and meticulously cleaned up each day. The painting appears to be well done, with cracks and holes calked before painting. They sent inspectors out regularly to check the quality of the work done and included us in the inspections and evaluations. We were impressed with the speed with which things happened. We have had work done on our house by several different companies over the years, and are pleased to give Paris Painting and Haven Builders our highest recommendation.
