I subscribed to LawnStarter to help a widow and her disabled son get their lawn taken care of after their lawnmower broke and they got a warning from the city about the state of the lawn. Being that I was out of town and unable to help personally, I signed up for this service. The initial sign-up via the phone call was very professional, very in depth conversation about services needed, etc. Things seemed great and they said they'd be able to get out to the property within two days. They have an app to schedule services, keep updated on the current status, and communicate with the crew. Great I thought!

They were scheduled for a Monday or Tuesday (depending on weather.) By Tuesday after nightfall the crew had not shown up with no communication. There had also been no poor weather. They got rescheduled for Wednesday or Thursday (depending on weather again.) I called their phone line on that Tuesday and was assured they would be there the next day. Again, no show on Wednesday. I called again and was assured they'd be there Thursday. No show on Thursday. By late evening I had to put a call out to friends who had a lawnmower and could transport it. Someone did go to help them, thankfully. At 8:45PM, after multiple messages to the crew, I finally got a response that said "I coming now." By that time, the lawn was being mowed by a friend and they were almost done. So after a full week, multiple messages to the crew, numerous phone calls, follow-up emails, and assurances things would be taken care of, I cancelled the service. They never showed.

If you can wait and don't like being communicated with and realize their customer service has no real authority over their crews who don't message you back, their prices are fairly reasonable I guess. I won't ever use them again. I realize my situation is a somewhat unique situation, but still, if you're gonna say you're gonna show up at a certain time and then not show up at your scheduled time 4 days in a row and not communicate with the person you're going to perform the service for, you've got some problems in your system to work out.

Just had to shut down my credit card and report this company for fraud.
This company is super shady!
Canceled contract 2 years ago because of poor performance and horrible scheduling.
Surprise charge on my credit card today!!
The local company doesn’t have a clue.
I called Corporate - the response was ridiculous.
According to them the gnomes do all their work…
Do not allow access to them for online billing.

LawnStarter has been great to work! The app they have it makes it easy to make changes and add services which is a game changer. I highly recommend LawnStarter.

Mower did a nice job and first time at my house went over what needed to be done and did it every time

The yard is looking so good. I have been seeding new grass and Tyler is very careful in those areas. The yard has over all improved. Even with rain delays, Tyler worked the mowing in ASAP.

Luckily for us, Gadiel mowed our grass today. He did an excellent job as he has always done.

The lawn looks fantastic! The work was done with care - clean edges, an even cut, and everything was left neat and tidy. Fast, professional, and reliable from start to finish. He worked fast and efficiently.

BUYER BEWARE the pros they spout off and proclaim are so amazing and "certified" are not vetted. They take just anyone and are just in middle and you pay dearly for this in between function they have. Accountability seems to be lost.. They did respond with a pro within a WEEK and that pro came and proclaimed my lawn was over 21inches. It was only 12 inches due to my hospitalization. I measured it myself. So they quoted $230 for 1 mowing but the pro said to my face "well I could do it for $140 cash paid in advance direct to me(him)". REALLY SHADY DOWNRIGHT THEFT BY SWINDLE. i IMMEDIATELY CONTRACTED GREEN HORIZONS they responded in 12 hours flat and mowed for $50 a great quality job was done by them. I'm still stunned someone has the nerve to say that these massive mowing machines warrant $230 for 1 mowing. Unbelievable. using them as a intermediary just means more cost as they're commission. Go direct with local companies where you are serviced with care not theft by swindle. No doubt they saw me in hospital garb and said "ok sucker were taking you to the cleaners." I very much doubt i woulda ever seen that $140 cash again. He had "take money and run" written all over his face. i certify this review as 100% true with no exaggeration.

TRULY SHOCKED ME TO THE CORE that folks would take advantage of the sick and elderly this way. Others may have good experience but its a total roll of the dice where accountability is lost in the shuffle.= especially if your older imho.

Cheth was sent by lawnstarter to my poor jungle of a front lawn today and had it looking great in no time and cleaned up everything on the sidewalk afterwards. Very happy with the results and burden off my shoulders. Thank you Cheth, and thank you lawnstarter!

I had lawn starter mow my lawn for the first time and oh what a beautiful job they did! Kerry and John were the guys who came out and both were very polite and conscientious.
I would highly recommend them!

They came at 6:14 pm and left at 6:18 pm. They damaged my property and they marked completed. Here's the pictures how they left it. Never cleaned up. I will never recommend to anyone.

This company sent a mower who mowed the smallest amount, left and charged me the full amount. I asked directly if they would be back to complete the mow. They said they would but a week later had not returned. When I contacted the company told me that they were keeping my money without providing a service because it had been more than 5 days and "lawn grows and get over it".

Given other low star reviews on this page, it seems like other people have similar experiences. DO. NOT. USE.

Lawn starter worked hard at making my experience good. My latest service was wonderful. They did a beautiful job mowing my lawn and blowing the clippings and debris off my driveway and walkway. I am very happy.

Cedric is a diligent, hard worker. He does a great job with our lawn and even moved a large old swing back into its place for us. We cannot do that stuff anymore. Thank you Cedric!

Amazing service from LawnStarter! They answered the phone on weekend evening and arranged lawn service immediately, we got the lawn moved in 3 days. Easy going, great service, good APP, will return back for next time!

It is extremely difficult to communicate with these guys since you have to be on hold or they email you. The business itself is really just the app, they do not perform their own services as they outsource it to a 3rd party. You never know exactly what you are going to get.

At once house, I had yearly lawn care serviced and added fall clean ups.

The fall cleanup was dragged out for months and was not performed until after the first snowfall so inevitably, it as a poor service. I tried called many times, but there was always excuses. Ultimately, lawn starter can’t do any more but try and give a notice to the 3rd party, but there are no consequences for falling behind schedule or not performing at all. It is all observed by the customer (you). No discounts are offered or anything and they will not guarantee any timelines.

Recently, we asked for aeration and seeding. The window given was over a 6 weeks period and I called to try and firm ups date several times and they said they wouldn’t give one and it will appear on the app. After a month, I finally got scheduled for 5/16. No one came on that day or since but I received invoice from them and the month withdrawn from my account. I called saying I was fine with the charge, but expect the service to be handled quickly. They put me on home for 20 minute to investigate, but just said they showed the service performed. I said when they do aeration there are whole left in the lawn. That was not done. With the seeding, I have barren spots in multiple spots of this lawn and I can clearly see no seed was laid down any where on the lawn. They still said it was done. I said I can’t send picture or anything they needed.

Eventually they said they would escalate, but the escalation was only done via email so I wouldn’t get a phone call. I got an email, and the person said after reviewing they showed the job was performed. I obviously said it wasn’t.

I called my bank and am disputing the charges at this point since clearly they won’t give my money back and I have not hear back from them.

It is best to just work directly with your local provided since that is who they are out sourcing to anyway, but it is earlier to work with them directly and hold them accountable if anything arises.

I know they use True Green for most of their services. I think they do their own lawn care, but outsources on other services when needed. So also 50/50….

When you get into it becomes a big web and it’s easy for them anyone to say it’s not their fault and they make the customer pay.

I was in need of a grass cutting service and came across this company through a Google search.
