Constraction reviews in Shakopee, Minnesota

Jess and his team at Xpand, Inc. did a wonderful job with our addition. We love the new space and the completely remodeled kitchen. Jess was always friendly and available whenever we had questions. We highly recommend Xpand, Inc. for your next project!!

After multiple remodeling projects spanning over 15 years, we are extremely pleased with the quality of work of the team and subs at Xpand, Inc. Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship are hallmarks of Xpand, Inc. Our project manager (the owner) does an outstanding job of listening to our priorities, project management and communication regarding the work progress. We would highly recommend Xpand, Inc for remodeling or new construction.

In 2006 they removed and replaced the entire front of our house because of mold damage resulting from stucco - a common issue in our area.

Although we lived out of state at the time, we had a high degree of trust in their team and they they kept us regularly updated with photos and emails.

In 2018 Xpand, Inc coordinated a remodel of our master bathroom, bedroom and closet along with finishing 1000 sf of a basement area to add a guest suite and art studio.

We are currently finishing up a series of projects including a laundry/mud room overhaul, new kitchen counter and backsplash, new fireplace and surround, new doors with hardware and interior painting of trim in the main rooms.

Next year we will undertake additional projects including remodeling a second main floor bath and guest bedroom and garage storage cabinetry and floor.

We were lucky to start working with this company when they were just starting out and they have earned our loyalty.

Dave Kurschner was a pleasure to work with. We did barn doors in the basement, a new deck off the master bedroom, and some extras in the lower garage. Everything was done with the highest quality. Communication was immediate and made the process less stressful. Everyday the crew would do an amazing job with cleanup. I have already told people to use Xpand for projects and I will absolutely continue in the future. I look forward to the next project with Dave and Xpand in the future

Xpand Inc. did a fabulous job on our kitchen project. Everything went just as we had planned, in fact they got everything done even a bit before schedule. Communication with Jess was always clear and concise- he was honest and budget conscious. We definitely recommend Jess and Xpand Inc for any of your remodeling/contracting needs!

A friend recommended Jess Moeding and his company Xpand to us, and Jess's easy-going demeanor and straight-forward approach won us over. Xpand was super easy to work with and adapted to every hurdle that we ran into along the way, including grading issues, finding railroad ties under an old concrete slab, or finding that the house was a 4x4 cedar cabin with no insulation to speak of. Nothing phased him; Jess always had a suggestion or idea that made sense. We put our trust in Xpand and love what they did. The finishes and fixtures are all of high quality. The direct employees of Xpand and the subcontractors they work with are top notch and respectful. My wife and I would recommend Xpand over and over to anyone who is looking for an honest and straight-forward builder/contractor. Thank you, Xpand for helping make a dream come true.

Our experience with Xpand, Inc. has been very positive. We interviewed three different builders and went with this one. They came highly recommended from some friends who, also, explored several builders and went with this one. Our friends' experience from start to finish on their project was very positive. We would echo that, as our project will be coming to an end in a couple of weeks. Jess Moeding, owner of the company, is very personable, easy to work with, very patient with all of our questions and very knowledgeable. The team of subcontractors that he brought in were outstanding! Jess was very responsive and always got back to us quickly. He showed up on sight for regular visits. He was very responsive to our requests for changes and was respectful of our trying to stay within the budget parameters we set for ourselves. I would definitely recommend you include him in your list of folks you are checking out for your project.

Jess Moeding's Xpand,Inc. is outstanding to work with. Our new deck and patio are beautiful. We initially looked at Xpand because a good friend recommended Jess. Ultimately, his offering price came in as the most affordable of the numerous companies we researched. The project was completed exactly as promised. I highly recommend Jess and Xpand for your next project.

The guys at Xpand, Inc did an amazing job on my 4 season porch remodel. Andy did an incredible job of keeping me up to date on the progress of the job, and everyone did quality work every step of the way. I couldn't have expected anything else, and would totally use Xpand again for another project. Thanks again, guys.

Our final addition to our Home is Complete!
Can’t say enough on just how easy it was to communicate our ideas to Jess.
We appreciated his years of experience, creativity and knowledge during our garage addition. With just a few more ideas from Jess, we were able to opened up our downstairs entrance to the new garage and storage area. Who doesn’t need more storage these days! If you are looking for a builder with a fantastic crew, great office staff and the time to work directly himself with his clients, Xpand, Inc is who I recommend to my friends and You…

Andy came out a day after requesting a quote and checked out the project. It felt like Andy was genuinely intent on helping us get the job done for the right price - he's either a fantastic sales guy or a downright decent human being. We ended up hiring Xpand to rebuild our deck, not a huge project, not a ton of money involved, but they really made us feel like we were important even though I imagine to them we were small fish. Work started a couple days later, and was wrapped up within the week. Typically when I've contracted a project like this the sales rep is never to be seen or heard from again after the initial consultation. Andy came back out to the site almost every day, making sure things we being done to our satisfaction. Labor isn't cheap these days, so it's nice when you spend a ton of money on something like this and actually feel like it was worth it. Andy and his crew certainly hit the mark, highly recommended.

Jess and team were great. We had a tree fall during a storm and damage our deck railing. They were able to source the exact same part two years after initial installation and return the deck to its original state. They were very easy to communicate with, timely, and very reasonably priced. At the same time they helped us install additional blocking above our mantel to support a TV mount. Would highly recommend Xpand, Inc. and will be using for future projects.

I first found out about Expand when my neighbor had them put on a deck , they were very happy with the workmanship , so I decided to give Expand a call .
Jess returned my call right away and came out within a few days to give me an estimate on my deck . He was always very prompt about responding back to my emails and phone calls .
Edgar and his team showed up right on time every day to install my new deck , they did an amazing job !!
I couldn’t be happier !
If you’ve gotten multiple bids on your upcoming project and you’re trying to decide on which company to go with , the choice is easy , Go with Expand Inc. They may not be your cheapest bid but like the old saying goes “ You get what you pay for “ Expand Inc. is worth every cent !!

We love the new addition done for us by Xpand, Inc. and only have complaints about the project manager’s handling of a couple contractor-related problems which were all, eventually, resolved. We give very high marks to the in-house carpentry team who have been exceptional in all respects. We were very happy with the in-house structural and cosmetic design guidance. Overall, the other contractors provided excellent work and materials.

Issues related to two contractors bring up the primary complaint where our project manager did not firmly take and retain ownership of problems, attempting to hold us, the customer, responsible for sorting out the issues with the contractors. Among these issues was a critical HVAC-decision made without consulting us which led to months of problems. Eventually, the project manager did the right thing, redoing part of the installation as it should have been done in the first place.

The end result is a completed extra sun room that meets & exceeds expectations, delivered later than originally discussed but at a fair price and pretty close to the original quote. It greatly adds to our enjoyment of the house and I would easily recommend Xpand, Inc. to a friend.

My caution to any newbie customers (like us) to this type of work and with any builder is a suggestion to stay very close to all stages of the design, scheduling and construction. Firmly hold the builder accountable for being available when needed and them taking quick ownership to successful resolution of the inevitable problems which come up in any build.

We met Jess in early 2016 on the Parade of Homes and were very impressed with him on our first meeting. He took the time to meet with us at our lot and confirmed he could build the house we wanted on our lot. It was a fully custom home that we designed with the help of Jess and his architect. We were very impressed with the overall building process, meeting the building schedule and budget, the quality of workmanship and follow-up care with us after completion. Jess (Homes of Xcellence) has assembled a very good and knowledgeable team to work with including his Project Manger, Design Coordinator and his team of sub-contractors. We would highly recommend Homes of Xcellence to build your next home.

XPand remodeled our dated kitchen with exceptional results! The entire team was extremely professional. Everything we requested was completed timely. Rachel managed the project with helpful recommendations and communicated so effectively with us and the team completing work. Would highly recommend them for home improvements!

Xpand was great to deal with.
Jess from Xpand was at my house the day I called him. He gave us an estimate on the deck we wanted through their on line app the very next day. We excepted signed his contract on line and we where ready to go. The utility companies where out the day after that and then we got a copy of the building permit from their web site.
The following Monday the lumber was delivered and the next day his crew showed up to began demolition on our front concrete steps and start on the deck.
His crew was great, cleaned up after themselves each day and kept us informed as to what was next.
Our 10' x 16' cedar deck was done in less then 3 days and with outstanding quality. I can defiantly reamend Xpand for professional, quality and fast installation.

Accurate quote, easy to follow the build schedule with their product mgmt tool, smart general contractors to lead you into making the right decisions for scope of work. Overall very enjoyable experience for a first time renovation

Jess and his team did a wonderful job on our TRICKY addition to a very old home. Between tricky access on a small lot in Minneapolis, unexpected foundation problems with our existing home, and even surprise shallow bedrock, Jess truly felt like a trustworthy partner on our project - rather than a contractor.

Our project more than doubled the size of our 1893 home, with a two story + basement addition. It included coordinating concrete, engineering, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, excavation/grading, and insulation teams in addition to Xpand's framing crew, which is no small task!

Jess was up-front about costs throughout, and we finished the project remarkably on-budget (given all of the surprises along the way). He was communicative and reliable.

Most of all, we appreciated his flexibility in scoping out just the work we needed - as we are doing much of the interior finishing work ourselves. No up-selling, and even offering helpful advice/support for things that we are tackling ourselves.

A family friend recommended Jess to us, and we now know why. If you're looking for an honest and no-nonsense contractor, you've found it.

I met Jess when Xpand put a deck on our new home when we bought it 17 years ago. We were so impressed with their work and professionalism that we referred several friends and neighbors to them and there are many Xpand decks in our neighborhood! A few years after our deck installation, we had them put in a dry bar with custom cabinets that has become a centerpiece of our kitchen/eat in area.

Recently, the fascia board on one of the exterior portions of our deck had started to work its way loose from the rest of the deck. The issue was strictly cosmetic, but something I tried to address via DIY. After I was unable to fix it in my own, I went onto their website on a weekend, and filled out an online request to have someone come out and take a look. Keep in mind the deck was 17 years old. The first thing on Monday morning I got a call from Jess and he came out to the house in 30 mins. I was amazed at the quick response! He assessed the situation and made arrangements to get us in the schedule and had his team come out to fix the issue. When they came out they were professional, polite, neat, cleaned up the work area, and fixed the issue. I would highly recommend Jess and his team for any type of deck, remodel, construction type work. They are great people to work with!

Dave, Erik, and their team were absolutely amazing. This is by far the best general contracting team we’ve worked with in a long time. From start to finish, they exceeded our expectations—not only in the planning and design process, but also in keeping everything well within our budget.

The level of detail and meticulous planning at every step was truly impressive. We never once felt things were off schedule or overlooked, and the communication throughout the project was excellent. Our family is thrilled with the outcome, and we achieved exactly what we had envisioned.

We will absolutely use them again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone considering improvements to their home.

After my basement was flooded from a water main break I got a letter in my mailbox from Xpand, Inc. and I’m am so glad I reached out for a quote. I can’t imagine the experience being any better!

From the initial design to the final build everyone was a total pro. The teams that Xpand subcontracted with on plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. took a lot of pride in their work and it shows in the final product. Everyone was so professional and kind!

Andy is a phenomenal project manager. He was always available to answer questions, great at problem solving when we ran into surprises and kept everything moving incredibly quickly. During a very stressful time I knew that I didn’t need to worry about what was going on with the remodel because he had it handled and that meant everything!

If this review doesn’t have you convinced my before and after photos should. I can’t believe this is my basement! Xpand will be my first call for any future home remodeling needs.
