We had Joel and his team redo our front buttress and steps and install a patio in our backyard. Each of the crew were artisans! They were open and responsive when I did not like one of the stone options. Their work was meticulous and the end result was gorgeous. Get complements each time someone comes over! They were also a delight to have in our space!

Joel and team were fantastic! We had a retaining wall issue that could have been very very expensive. Joel talked through the options and came up with an alternative solution that worked much better for us. When the team started digging and found the issues was a bit more involved than initially estimated, Joel went the extra mile to make sure it was done right. He was very responsive throughout the process, easy to work with, and of course the work itself was excellent.

Joel and team built a couple of retaining walls for me over the last few years. He reused stone I had from an existing wall and integrated new stone that matched it to a tee. He also suggested a draining solution for some pooling I was getting in the driveway.
Always prompt & professional, and the end product is impeccable. I continually get complements years later. One of the very best contractors I’ve ever worked with!

We've hired English Stone for two projects now. We had an old wood retaining wall that we replaced with a stone retaining wall and now our latest project is a beautiful stone patio with a built in gas fireplace and stone steps to our back door. Joel is great to work with, he really has an eye for design and what will look good in the space and was able to advise me on things I never would've thought of, like running my gutter underground and out of the retaining wall so it wouldn't be sticking out. I get compliments from neighbors all the time on the stone work. I highly recommend!

Joel is the best! he worked with us to keep our retaining wall and walkway project on budget and the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations by miles! The work was done in a timely manner and his crew was cheerful, polite and easy to work with. Could not be more pleased with the finished project! We had existing stone covered pillars with exposed concrete stairs. The stone that was originally used was no longer being made, but they were able to find a great match. Brian who did the install did an excellent job and was able to finish the project in a single day. Can not recommend enough!

We solicited four bids to rebuild our Dolomite retaining wall, to re-route a drainage pipe from our brick patio and to reset some brick on the patio. We definitely made the right choice with Joel Forsberg, English Stone. Joel supplied diagrams and explained exactly how he would rebuild our sagging wall, fix our drainage problem and remove and reset the brick on the patio. We could not have asked for a better job. The retaining wall is perfectly constructed and power washed to show off the beautiful color of the stone. The rest of the work was expertly done as well. Joel and his crew are so easy to work with, came when they said, cleaned up after, and finished on time. I highly recommend English Stone.

English Stone is one of those rare companies that strives to exceed your expectations. In order to support this statement let's talk about the four Ps.

Project: We had an ugly, weed infested rock garden on a hill adjacent to the back of our home with a rotted and leaning retaining wall ready to collapse. The hill area needed leveling and reshaping, then weed barrier, rocks, and shrubs planted. The retaining wall is now made of interlocking stones and is completely level. We also added a circular yard stone patio with a stone fire pit and grill in the center. Our backyard now has an old English stone flare and is very classy.
People: Joel met with us initially and followed through with us and the workers until the end. He has a very positive energy, is passionate about his company's products and services, but not pushy to the customer. He had great ideas for our project and actually did more for us than what was expected. The workers were skilled craftsmen, second to none, with great experience and great attitudes. I would not hesitate recommending them to work their trade even at the Governor's mansion.
Pricing: This part surprised us as we thought the project would cost more than it actually did.
Process:T he work was consistent, starting sooner than we hoped, and was constant to completion with every detail addressed.

After the new grass has grown in, we will be adding pictures. This is a dream come true for us, and we want this review to help you find your own miracle with English Stone.

I reached out to English Stone to get an estimate on 6/23/25 and Joel Forsberg, the owner, was at our house two days later, on time & very friendly, to take a look at what needed to be done with our front steps and walkway/patio. The estimate was in my e-mail shortly thereafter, that day. The work was scheduled after I waited to get two other estimates, one which was very long in coming and the other, which never happened. Although English Stone’s estimate was somewhat higher than the other estimate I received, based on how Joel interacted with me I thought that I would much rather work with his company! On the first visit, the crew repaired the front steps, completely re-laying the top treads and risers for the 2 steps, grinding out all of the joints on the top landing, & applying new mortar. The crew also re-leveled the entire Bluestone area when first entering our walkway and put a new lime sand base and all new platinum Polysweep polymeric sand in the joints. There were also three sunken pavers that were reset. The front steps were acid washed a few days later, then sealed 2 days after the final acid wash. The crew was friendly and hard-working. Everyone did a wonderful job, from start to finish. We are very happy with the results. You can see from the photos how awful everything looked before and how wonderful everything looks now!
