What a nightmare!
Being a woman homeowner I’ve had my fair share of dealings with misogynistic men in construction, but this one takes the cake. I have never been treated as poorly as I was when I employed Kal Eleffendi, owner of Kal Construction and Design in St. Paul MN, to head up my full house remodel after a house fire in February.

This contractor is extremely unprofessional in the way he deals with clients. He was very disrespectful and made inappropriate comments toward me, yelled at me when I asked questions, made very little progress in the nearly 5 months on the job, caused additional damages by pure negligence, refused to be transparent with costs, refused to listen or take direction from me resulting in numerous mistakes that I was charged to have corrected, the list goes on!

Next time you’re looking for a contractor or home renovation professional, do yourself a favor and avoid Kal Construction and Design and his subcontractor, Rivera Quality Construction aka Rivera Quality Renovations.

We consider KAL Construction our contractor of choice and never hesitate to contact Kal if we have a remodeling project, an unexpected structural problem or require an expert opinion. He is knowledgeable, responsive and skilled in the many facets of of construction and problem-solving. Over the years, we’ve used KAL Construction and its excellent and trustworthy crew for many projects including an extensive basement remodel, a new roof, concrete work and emergency issues. We rely on Kal to give us the information we need to make an informed decision about any home-related issue. He is communicative, reliable and is generous when we have questions or seek his advice. We do not hesitate to recommended KAL Construction to others who value a personal relationship with an experienced contractor.

Kal has done numerous projects for us at our house in St. Paul, from big to small. His work is always fabulous. I especially appreciate the care he takes to make sure he knows what we want, and helps us to look at all our options. The projects included roof patching, after hail damage; a beautifully remodeled bathroom; painting both inside and outside; all sorts of electrical matters and upgrades, and many more. Kal is the best contractor I have ever worked with.

Kal has done two major home projects for us, a complete basement remodel and a screened-in outdoor patio with fireplace. Kal's team is very professional and pleasant to work with.Both projects more than met our expectations and were done at a reasonable price. He offers good design ideas and is careful with the customer's money. I've recommended him to others who have been equally satisfied.

My wife and I were very pleased with the work performed by Kal and his crew. Very responsive from the estimate, scheduling and work performed. Our new roof and siding project was professionally installed and the cleanup of the site was excellent. The project manager kept us informed and was always available to answer any questions. We would highly recommend Kal Construction and Design to anyone requiring residential contractor services.

Kal and his team rebuilt our kitchen in a style compatible with our 1925 house, refinished some of the floors, replaced several banisters and thresholds, and painted our basement. They finished on time and on budget, for a very reasonable price. We were and still are delighted! We certainly will hire Kal for our future projects.

The best bathroom remodel you will get in the twin cities area!

I’m not local. I was looking for a company for my parents who had a leak going in the upstairs bathroom. It went all the way down into the kitchen ceiling. I used them to remodel the bathroom and fix the plumbing issue. It was really easy to manage everything remotely with them. My parents love the finished work and I’m happy it was taken care of for them in a productive manner.

Excellent design assistance . Could not have been more pleased working with Victoria , who designed my lower level bathroom for me . I had already hired a contractor to remodel the room , but in the future would use this store for entire remodel projects . Victoria was a delight to work with and made what is an onerous task for me a pleasure .

I do not recommend using this company. I used them for a main floor/kitchen remodel a couple of years ago. After having several issues in the remodel process, I’m still dealing with issues from the remodel. Whether it was the flooring being installed incorrectly, the sink not being installed correctly, the job not actually being finished fully, or just not following the agreed upon remodel. Even worse is that they weren’t willing to fix or help take care of the issues. They are concerned about getting the check rather than ensure their customers are happy with the service.

Kitchens by Design provided the most seemless experience from the design phase to the finishing touches on our kitchen renovation. Victoria is meticulous in her work as a designer and project manager. Every subcontractor from drywall, electricians, harwood floor installers, to plumbing, was professional and courteous to my family and pets. The finished kitchen was beyond my expectation. I highly recommend Kitchens by Design for your next home project.

An excellent company—the only problem with this business is they should stand up and shout out loud that they also design and build other rooms besides kitchens!

Honestly, we have hired KBD not only to design our kitchen, but also complete two bathroom projects on our second floor, as well as expand a basement room and build a closet. The builders were consistently respectful and professional with the work, and Dawn's flexibility and eye for detail confirmed our confidence in going with this firm. What's more, the final product really shines. It's like we have a new house.
