Man I got to tell you, my brother in law told me about this company. Sept of 2024 sales rep John came out and gave me a bid. I was blown away how affordable for a new water softener was going to be. John is such a a trustworthy guy I liked him from the very start. The installer was named Gary. Talk about skill and craftsmanship, this unit is going to last forever. I went today oct 14th 2025 to get some salt and met Annette. She loaded up 3 - 50 lb bags of salt in my car. Talked about 1st class service. Thanks to the whole gang. Fantastic experience from start to finish. When purchasing our home, Merles had installed the previous Hellenbrand system that operated flawlessly from 2011-2025–that’s why they got a call from me to replace the old system.

John stopped by to test our water and confirm that it’s not working, or in our case, hardly working at all. He showed me test result and we went over machine options. Of course, I knew I wanted something very similar to what we had and they had the newer versions available from Hellenbrand.

What they sell is not your standard Menards or Home Depot unit. These are commercial grade units that are built to last. Those of you in the south metro area know just how horrible the water hardness is and their units last. Don’t waste your time with something that will break or fully degrade in 3-4 years.

Our new water softener with additional filtration was installed 4 days later and we are back up and running. Anthony did a great job removing and replacing the old system in under 2 hours. They even re-piped part of my home that wasn’t on the original softener line.

Overall, great service, great install, and pricing was close to what I was expecting. This is 100% one of those “you get what you pay for” situations.

Merle’s was fantastic! They were recommended by our realtor and had availability to come out to provide a quote and install a water softener almost right away. Communication was fantastic and there was no pressure to buy the most expensive product. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly!

Called around 8AM on a Monday morning and they had a tech out within an hour to clear our laundry room sink drain. He worked quickly and professionally and the prices were reasonable as well. Also, the fact that my protective dogs were not remotely concerned about the tech being here and interacting with me told me all I needed to know. Will definitely use this company again in the future if needed.

McDonough’s was so helpful and wonderful for a bad drain issue that we had. Mo was our technician and was fabulous! He was punctual, explained everything very thoroughly, and was so smart and creative in solving our complicated problem. I would recommend them to anyone!

The main was plugged on a Sunday. Called on Monday and Tony from McDonough's was at my place by noon. Wanting to know what was plugging the main, Tony said he could take a look with his camera. Well, the leads on his camera came up short so the answer was inconclusive. But he got the main cleaned out and cleaned up after himself. Happy!

Love this company. They are so nice - from the person who books appointments to the plumbers who show up (in my case both times I had issues) the day I called, on time and in a great mood. Diagnosed and fixed both of my separate issues right away. Didn't waste time, good knowledge, followup and prices. I would definitely recommend over and over again. They are the best I have used in the Twin Cities. Oh and very COVID conscious too. AWESOME company.
