Read moreMy garage door wouldn't open. I called for a service appointment and the technician arrived within the hour. He determined the problem and corrected it. The belt had failed and even though it was under warranty through the manufacturer, it would've taken a week to get the replacement. So unfortunately, I had to buy a belt to get the problem fixed that evening. I did call the manufacturer and they shipped me a new belt. It would be nice if I could exchange the brand new belt that I receive for a partial rebate on the cost of the work that was done.
They were to be here at noon and now they said 1 pm. Notified me 10 minutes before noon and apparently they have no concern about my time!
Rick was responsive (for a smaller job like ours - that's really saying something!), very fair, and did quality work. He gave us a price that we were pleasantly surprised by, and he seemed pained to even quote as much as he did. We had a slight depression in the middle of our slab which he was able to level out, which wasn't necessarily something he was planning on. He is friendly, educated, and a very hard worker who genuinely seems to care about the work he's doing. And he's even good conversation. Nicely done, sir.
Very pleased with the repair service to our garage door...the bottom right side roller had slipped out of the door bracket, got stuck in a cocked position which then slightly bent the roller frame and the actual door panels. The repair man was courteous and very knowledgeable...the roller was repositioned, the roller guide frame was bent back to the correct position. Luckily the door panels that were slightly starting to bend went back into a flat position. After two weeks, there have been no further problems. A very reasonable repair charge, there was no pressure in suggesting unnecessary additional parts were required. They will get our repeat business in the future. Honest repair work at an honest price.
My garage door would, intermittently, not close. Finally reaching the last straw, I contacted Overhead Door and was happy that a same-day appointment was available. The technician did a thorough job of troubleshooting and identified the likely problem. He fixed it, as well as a minor installation error (which had not affected its operation) done by whoever installed the opener 15 years ago. Throughout, he was friendly, explained what he was doing, and answered questions clearly. This was over a week ago, and I have been very happy with the results.
This post isnt about a restaurant experience or a product review. It's about how you can fall for a scam very easily. I have owned the poorest wireless printer I've ever used. Nothing but consistenly falling off line. When it was impossible, I phoned "HP" to see if it could be repaired. I spoke to the "support line" and via my cell gave permission to access the printer. The guy really seems to know his stuff! And lo and behold he got it back online and printing. He said he would call me the next night to see if all was well. I really did not know because I didnt need to print anything. But he said he was calling back to check, so I figured I should test it iut before he calls! Lo and behold, the printer is totally dead. The man whi initially helped was, of course, Indian. I called "HP support" and a different man answered who couldn't transfer me to my "guru guy ." I tell him the printer is now dead so he asks camera permission to watch me unplug/re-plug, and unplug the printer. He is satisfied and said he'd send a "new printer" but it must be the same printer. He goes through this litany about how i will use the same bix to return the dead printer. But here is where these scammers fail. He tells me i have to pay $1.00 for processing. "Excuse me...a company the ilk kf HP wants a dollar?" l get angry at this point that I have trusted the super nice Indian man from HP. So I get the return phone call from Guru man. I tell him about this inane convo and he asked for a dollar on a CC! Guru guy agrees and says "yes that's really ridiculous. I tell him guy #2 actually wanted to send fhe same model (which I finally got him to tell me it is refurbished, but he agreed instantly it would be brand new). Guru says no no I will srnd you a new upgraded printer. I'm at this point where I realize this is not legit. So I call another "HP Suppkrt number. This time it is a lady. I tell her about the $1 deal and SHE says "oh yes, that is not unusual to ask for $1 I yell at her how she and her cohorts are scammers and they will be reported." Word spread to guru man the jig was up. Still, he calls again and I don't answer and block the number, which came through incidentally on caller ID the first 2 letters of this scam company is actually "ID." Be aware if you are an HP customer. Though I specified all 3 of the contacts were Indian, I am not racist against any person, regardless of nationality, skin color, etc. I know so many lovely people who we have met in our travels. But these scammers of Indian descent are giving a black eye to the many wonderful people who are honest, warm people. I may be close to 80 yrs old but I still have some wits about me. Be suspicious! These people were gentle and polite. Pay close attention.
