I needed a security door installed and the door was installed professionally and on time! Ethan was my technician and he was on time, professional, kind, and when faced with a challenge that the door I purchased had a defect, he was able to find a solution and implement it successfully! I will be hiring Gateway Home Services again for future projects.

Ethan did an excellent job and very happy with the results of our master bathroom remodeling. He handled all aspects of the project including providing the quote as well as performing the majority of work. We called for a quote on a deck with a access ramp for my Dad who had a stroke a couple years ago.

He came out and also gave us a few ideas of adding a gate to be able to keep dogs on the porch. He was very knowledgeable and the deck turned out amazing!!!

We used Gateway Home Services to put up a new deck.  Ethan was very knowledgeable and hardworking. He came up with great recommendations for the materials and structure overall. When it was finished the deck came out looking great and was very solid.  He also did some foundation wall crack repairs and painting inside and out which greatly improved the appearance. We are very happy with the quality of work and definitely recommend Gateway.

Had 30 year old doors refinished and realigned by Gateway Home Services. They turned out terrifically. Ken battled the summer heat and did excellent work in restoring the wood doors to almost new condition. I look forward to using this company again on the next project.

Nice people, not so good quality

I recently hired this contractor to renovate my bathroom after being referred by BathFitters, expecting a professional and smooth process, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. We hired BathFitters and Gateway Home Services LLC specifically because of the promised timeframe and the expectation of high-quality work.

Several problems arose during the renovation, starting with the demolition on the first day. The worker left debris in our basement without cleaning it up and it was left this way. This mess remained until BathFitters arrived to install the shower and myself and the Bath Fitters contractor had to clean their mess, which was completely unacceptable. Gateway Home Services LLC didn't even ask us to cover or move anything to prevent damage to anything below. I’ve never had a professional service leave such a mess. The service tech from Bath fitters was also appalled at how they left their demolition mess and apologized for them leaving it that way. The project should have been completed before BathFitters arrived.

The most critical issue was that Gateway Home Services LLC worked in St. Louis County, replacing toilets and vanities without obtaining the necessary permits. This oversight caused our project to extend an additional six days beyond the promised 3-4 day timeline. As professionals, they should have been aware of the permit requirements and local code regulations. This is precisely why we hired them—to ensure compliance with all necessary legalities and code standards.

Our medicine cabinet was also installed upside down, and the drywall around it was left with nicks and holes. Only one set of screws was used, leaving me concerned about the cabinet's stability. While I appreciate the no-cost installation, I now have to hire someone else to remove and reinstall it correctly.

Vanity water lines were installed incorrectly, leading to a failed inspection.

Holes around the door frames after replacing the floor were left uncaulked.

The walls, which were supposed to be smooth, were left with many imperfections.

General quality issues

Communication throughout this project was also severely lacking. When Greg came to bid on this project, we clearly outlined our expectations, and he assured us that he would monitor the work closely. Instead, I had to contact him multiple times about issues, and he only showed up after BathFitters brought an inspector for their portion of the work—and we were advised by St. Louis County inspectors that Gateway also needed a permit for the type of work they were doing. When I contacted Greg he advised they were not aware they needed permits. It's baffling that a contractor working in St. Louis County would be unaware of this requirement if this is the type of work they are completing.

We trusted Gateway Home Services LLC to complete this job with high quality and timeliness, but we received neither. While we appreciate them covering the preexisting plumbing issue that was found, their lack of preparation caused a cascade of issues, from the cleanup, to the removal and reinstallation of the incorrectly installed medicine cabinet, the additional sanding and repair needed to smooth the bathroom walls, the drywall patching around the medicine cabinet, and the caulking of the floors around the door frames, among other quality issues.

If you’re considering them for any project, think twice! Greg did admit via email to the quality issues and offered to have someone come back to fix all of the mistakes but I declined as they were already at my home a week past the initial deadline and had no issues with the poor quality before bringing it to their attention. We paid their company $5940 for this level of quality and that price did not include materials. This is a very small bathroom and Bath Fitters did half of it.

We've used Gateway Cleaning Services for a few years now and have always had a great experience and service with them. Management has always been responsive to our needs, and the quality of the cleaning services has been consistent and reliable.

We had Ken from Gateway add a built in fireplace in our living room plus shelving along the sides. Everything turned out beautifully and I couldn’t be more excited about the final product. Will hopefully use them again for future projects.

We had Ken from Gateway come in for a project installing a 220V outlet and vent for our dryer, along with some drywall patching. From the start, Ken was incredibly communicative and professional. He kept everything clean, was friendly with our pets, brought some humor to the job, and just an all-around good dude.
His work was absolutely top notch and honestly went above and beyond what we expected, especially after some not-so-great experiences with other contractors. He got everything done within the timeframe he originally gave us and the quality really shows.
