I had a large tree in my back yard that was extending over and essentially onto the top of my house. I called Droege Tree care and they told me they would have their "Arborist" come out to my home. They told me that they would do so on a Monday. I never heard from them on Monday and there was nothing to indicate they had come. So I gave it until Tuesday late afternoon. I called them. It took them a while to figure out if someone had been there, but then they started to tell me what they were going to do to the tree. What they recommended didn't really make sense to me so I let them know what I had in mind (I wanted to make sure we weren't going to do this all again next summer. I wanted to make sure it got done correctly this time). They sent someone back and to their credit, they called me this time.

I was mailed a contract which I promptly mailed back to them. I waited approximately two weeks expecting that the work would get done any day now. I finally called and left a message. I was frustrated with the lack of communication, and I needed to know when the work would be done. I received a call back the next morning. The woman told me that they had either not recieved or had misplaced my contract. I again voiced my frustration and I asked if they could just do the work. She said she would see to it.

Fifteen minutes later, I received a phone call from a gruff, rude woman who later identified herself as the owner when asked. She stated "I'm not doing any work without a contract". I made sure she knew that I had sent in the signed contract and I had been told it may have been misplaced. She again stated "Well I'm just telling you I'm not doing any work without a contract". I asked her why she sounded mad at me. I had done nothing wrong. In fact, I had done everything that had been asked of me. I asked if there was anything I could do to speed things up. Could she e-mail it to me and I could respond? She said yes. She began to take my e-mail address. I asked her politely to read it back to me. She had gotten it wrong. I corrected it and very politely asked her to read it back to me. She had gotten it wrong again. When we got the correct e-mail sorted out, she told me they were running 2-3 weeks out. I reminded her that I had sent in a signed contract a couple of weeks ago. That is when she hung up.

Yes.

She hung up.

I called back to make sure I was not mistaken. She thanked me for the phone call but informed me that they would not be able to help me. It was at that time that I verified that I was speaking with the owner, Colleen I believe.

I promptly called another tree service. They came out today and will do the work tomorrow. I will add their review tomorrow when the work is done.

Very unprofessional on so many levels. This post is as accurate as possible. There have been no exaggerations or embelishments.

The clerk spoke very prejudice and said that if their arborist came out it would cost $250 because they didn't want to waste their time in my area, normally a quote is free. She told me fee is unrefundable because of the gas they need. Excuse me this is very unprofessional, she does not know my position financially. She also said that she is sure someone else would be able to help you people.

I have been using Droege for years. For new trees,trimming for power lines, and storm recover ( a neighbor’s old oak crushed my two cars and landed across the front yard). Droege has been awesome. Thank you, Colleen

My neighbors had a tree removed that’s between our homes. This company didn’t ask to be on my property and left debris and wood pieces all over my roof. They also cracked a couple of my pavers. Colleen came out with a condescending attitude about the problem. She immediately stated you don’t clean your gutters! I said I do I haven’t cleaned them since late fall but I do. I told her I’m speaking on the debris your company left on my property. She continued to talk down to me about what her company did wrong. Don’t use this company.

I am pleased with the service we have gotten from Droege Tree Care. They have advised us on selecting new trees and on removing fallen limbs. When one new tree began to list due to its supporting roots coming to the surface they remedied the problem promptly and effectively. They can be hard to reach but I think I have figured out a method, using my cell phone.

Droege Tree service is a super company. It’s easy to make appointments, the staff is extremely helpful and the teams who do the work are friendly and fast. My extended family has been Droege customers for more than 30 years and I wouldn’t consider going to anyone else.

This was my first time using Droege and I was really pleased. They did a fantastic pruning of our front yard tree...it looks so much better! Very professional and friendly staff.

I have been using Droege Tree Care since 2020-2021. I was referred to them by Pretty City Gardens & Landscapes which has installed native plant pollinator gardens in my front and back yards. Droege has already planted four native trees for my front and back yards - which are thriving - with another three-four native trees to be planted in Spring 2023. The Droege Tree Care staff, arborist and crew have always been courteous, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and responsive. I'm so glad Pretty City referred them...and so are my trees!

Droege Tree Care is such an excellent tree company. They did exactly what I wanted. I even cancelled having them cut down a tree. But when I needed them to grind up the stomp after the tree was cut down, I personally did, they came and did an excellent job. They are patient. The prices for tree service are very reasonable. I would definitely call them again.

Colleen has always been very helpful whenever we have tree questions. The staff who comes to take care of the needed tree care are professional, fast and clean. We highly recommend them if you have any questions on your trees.

They also do a fine job of general landscaping. What I admire the best about Droege Tree service is the professional feed back I get regarding the plant in general. Tips on care of the plant or tree gives me the chance to be part of the growth and stability of the tree or plant. They are always ready to offer advice about what would be a good choice for the area in question. Their teams are always ready to install plants and mediums in such a way that the plant/tree will grow and prosper.

Droege Tree Care did a fantastic job of removing an oak tree in our front yard that was growing into the power lines. They were very professional and did an excellent job of cleaning up everything afterwards. I would definitely use their services again.

Droege Tree Care made replacing an old dying tree easy. They had a fair bid at the start. They communicated with me during the winter. March came, so Droege Tree Care came out and within hours, I had my old tree gone and new one in its place. Watering instructions were included from April until October.

Droege Tree Care, from quote to clean up, were great. Received quote within 36 hrs of walking the job. The work was performed in a professional manner and the crew did a fantastic job of cleaning up.
I could not be any happier with my experience with Droege Tree Care and recommend them highly for any work you may need.

We love our trees, which means we love Droege. Colleen is hugely knowledgeable and we appreciate that she pays her crews a decent wage. Droege will probably not be a low bidder on a job, but they won't be the highest either. We consider them great value as they're professional and qualified. St. Louis can be really rough on trees, so if you value yours we highly recommend Droege. The last batch of trees that Droege planted for us are just wonderful.

To add an update: this review should have been posted a couple of years ago. Everything tree and bush that Droege has planted for us is still thriving, and this after the drought of summer 2025. These folks really know how to plant something so that it survives. And if for some reason it doesn't, Colleen makes it right. Droege is one of the best small businesses in St Louis.

Droege tree does great work! They are very knowledgeable about trees and their care. All the workers are very professional and work very carefully and clean up everything. They also call and let you know exactly when they will be there. I trust them with my most special trees.

Great service, competitive price. The only drawback is scheduling - they get booked up pretty quickly and the wait can be long. But overall, I was very happy with their estimate, the recommendation and the crew that came to do the job.
Colleen (the owner) explained everything regarding my tree in a clear and educational manner, and did not try to push unnecessary services. Instead, she recommended the minimum for the tree to thrive, and a long-term care plan to prevent future issues - which on the long run will save me money and assure I can keep my tree as long as possible. Ashley (the office manager) was responsive and kind.
It's nice to see a woman-owned and operated business thrive! I recommend them for your tree care needs. They certainly made a loyal customer with me.

All my interactions with Droege Tree Care were positive. We did our deadwooding in the Fall and planted 4 trees in the Spring.
