We had DeLoa Construction help us with a bathroom remodeling project. They did a fantastic job and completed the project in a timely manner.

These guys were quick to respond, had excellent communication, AND did a great job! Highly recommend!!!

DeLoa and Sons did a countertop/sink renovation for us in Oct/Nov 2017 in our single family home.

Initially, things seemed great- they were installing a new undermount sink under a new laminate countertop. We repeatedly inquired as to whether or not they were familiar with this specific type of detail work, and were reassured that they were capable.

Unfortunately, as the job progressed it became clear through both the words and actions of the two men that came to the house that they had never done this type of job before. The first time they “finished” the job, it was sloppy and amateurish.

Ultimately, they returned three times to try to fix the issues, and it never turned out to a professional standard.

    My complaint is two-fold:
First, Frank and his office never took responsibility for misleading us about their level of experience with this kind of detail work. They came back to fix it, and made it sound like they were doing us a favor by not charging for that time, when the mistakes they were fixing were MAJOR problems resulting from their inexperience.
Second, the job is still not done to a professional standard. The laminate seams are obvious, the bullnose edging is not flush with the countertop and is sharp where the corners meet, the undermount quartz sink is scuffed due to the install process, etc. I predict we will need to redo the counters/sink if we want to sell in the next few years.

Frank and his office were not unpleasant to work with, but in the end I cannot recommend them. The old idiom is that you should under-promise and over-deliver; unfortunately, DeLoa and Sons did just the opposite.

When we began the process of remodeling our bathrooms, we had no idea where to start or what we would even be looking to do. We had met previously with places referred by the big box stores and found out that they wanted an arm and a leg to essentially put in a shower. When we spoke with Frank at DeLoa though, he wanted to listed to what our visions were for this project and then built a plan from there. There was constant communication throughout the process with Morgan, who didn't seem to get annoyed by our silly questions! When the work began, we were greeted by pleasant, professional and hard working individuals who got right to work and did an absolute wonderful job gutting an old/outdated shower and putting in a beautiful Onux shower. We had a bathroom that wasn't functionable previously and now you can do everything but cook dinner in there!! We had also gotten materials from a big box store to have a shower/tub installed in our other bathroom, they didn't bat an eye and got this completed, as well as helping repair some random problems we found along the way. Our only regret is that we didn't contact DeLoa & Sons sooner, and we will be utilizing their services for other projects again in the future. I would highly recommend DeLoa & Sons to anyone who wants things done right!!! Thank you all!

Edit: This consultation took place on Nov 28th. I was eventually sent two estimates on December 14th.

    ——

Our HVAC guy recommended we contact DeLoa and Sons with regards to attic insulation.

We contacted them on a Monday and the reception was incredibly helpful. She scheduled a free evaluation for the next day at 9 AM.

The next day at 11 AM - two hours after the scheduled appointment time - I contacted them and asked whether they still planned on coming (I had other attic insulation companies coming to evaluate and offer competitive bids and did not want their appointments overlapping.)

The very nice reception apologized and said she’d see what happened and get back to me. She called back and said it was a “crazy morning” and the individual who was supposed to come that morning could be there in 15 minutes.

When he showed up, he repeated the “crazy morning” line with an apology. He had no ladder nor tools. (He needed a ladder and a Phillips screwdriver for access to one part of the attic.)

He called someone back at the shop to
bring tools. Before they arrived I offered and provided a ladder and screwdriver. (I found it odd that someone who evaluates attics wouldn’t have a ladder or tools but no big deal.) Both guys were nice enough.

We have two separate attics. One can be accessed through a closet. The other via ladder. We needed both inspected.

After climbing the ladder and unscrewing only one of the two screws holding the attic access point in place, he peered inside (without entering). He told me there “was no insulation” in that side of the attic. He noted that we should do Batt insulation because blow-in would be difficult. (Difficulty to the installer would not be my primary concern.)

After learning that we had other projects planned (porch restoration and painting) he offered to include those estimates too. I let him know he was more than welcome. He then left without inspecting the other attic. It’s now Thursday afternoon and we have not heard back from them.

It’s worth noting that another firm who came out later that day and inspected both attics. Their tech came to the door with a ladder. He took highly detailed measurements of both. He actually went into the attic crawl space and determined it used to be a roof deck. A pitched roof was built over it at some point. There was, in fact, insulation but it was below the roof deck (between ceiling and roof). He gave us solutions (recommending Blow-in) and warned against Batt Insulation (not knowing that it was recommended by another firm) for several reasons with sound logic. They had their estimate back to us that evening.

    In summary:
    1. The firm missed our appointment.
    2. The individual showed up to the appointment without obvious tools for the job (ladder and basic tools).
    3. Did not fully inspect both attics as requested. Only inspected one.
    4. Did not do a detailed inspection and misdiagnosed our issue.
    5. Did not communicate within 48 hours after the inspection nor provide a quote (yet).

That said, I will say all of the people were pleasant to deal with. This is not a personal attack on any individual. It’s not even necessarily an attack on the business. Giving them three stars as I cannot vouch for their actual work. We may have just slipped through the cracks or caught them on a bad day. Everybody has them.

All I can say is that the estimate is the top of the funnel. It’s the start of the sales process. You usually get the best experience there and if there is an issue, it usually occurs later in the sales cycle. The fact that there was so much friction so early means we wouldn’t be in a position to go any further.

If I find that I made a mistake, I will update this review later.

DeLoa & Sons went above & beyond finishing my garage for me. Drywalled the ceiling as well as putting up wood trim. Also got a electrical outlet installed. No messes. No issues. I highly recommend them! Thanks guys!

Great folks. Had a small project which I need help with. Received an estimate the next day and project started quickly after the approval. They knocked it quickly and effectively and were thorough in their clean up. Definitely would consider Frank DeLoa for medium sized projects of ours. Recommended them to my neighbors.

I wish I could write a review with no stars because they don’t deserve 1 star! They did a deck for me a while back and completely ruined it . They had to redo the deck 3 times due to them not knowing the city regulations and still messed up the deck and just left it. It’s not screwed in properly, rails are dangerously loose, it’s not up to code, terrible work from this company and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone if their services were free!

They redid our basement finish 3 rooms and all were done better than i expected. We were always kept informed of when crews would be there and they were there when we expected them. They worked hard and did it right. Any questions we had were answered promptly. Their follow up on an item that needed adjustment was done the same day that we notified them. They were pleasant and easy to work with and I would go to hem in if there was a need for more work.

I had a great experience with my kitchen remodel with Deloa and sons. I have an older home and wasn’t looking to invest in a massive overhaul, I just wanted to upgrade and make the kitchen more functional for me. First of all I was really impressed that they came out and talked to me in person about options, and In a no pressure way. In addition to what I thought I was going to do, they suggested a change in layout to flip a half bath with my off kitchen laundry that completely altered the way the kitchen looked and opened it up in a way that I could’ve never imagined. They also were able to save and almost perfectly match my old golden oak cabinets, which every other bid told me were out of style and suggested some thing in that flavor of the moment, gray. Even when I specifically said I don’t want gray. They were prompt with their work, lots of attention to detail, and whenever there was an issue they were immediately responsive and fixed it. They were also super clean and work was timely. I absolutely love my kitchen. It is beautiful and functional and more storage than I could’ve ever imagined. I also want to give a shout out to the first person (not Deloa) who I asked for an estimate from, who judged my needs via a zoom call, who told me my old cabinets were worthless and shouldn’t be saved, that what I wanted couldn’t be done for the money I wanted to spend, and then asked me if the “person who makes the financial decisions” was going to weigh in on the project. Thanks to that dude for helping me make Deloa my choice. If you want a female friendly business who listens to what you want, collaborates to make it happen for a reasonable price, helps you create a home not just a slap hazard remodel, and doesn't ask you to check with your husband first, go with Deloa.

Projects are consistently delayed. Communication is poor. They have not paid the countertop contracts - and now I am working through a lien. I would caution doing business with Deloa.

Update to your response. NO left messages! I've received redundant emails with bad math and no resolutions. We've paid you the entire contracted amount. We will square up on the additional few hundred dollars in miscellaneous charges when the issues are resolved. When the issues are fixed - I will pay my remaining balance to the countertop contractor that you still owe thousands to for my job. I've waited the last 2 weeks since your last email about contacting us to address the shotty work. I am still waiting

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend DeLoa & Sons Construction Inc.
    Summary:
Poor communication between them and myself about project status and poor communication between the team. Did not do a very good job cleaning up after themselves. Project took longer than expected once they did finally get it started (very rarely did they work a full day at the house). Was not impressed with the quality of the work either. Not customer or detail oriented.
    Details:
The project was delayed months due to the window not being delivered on time and not once did they offer to do other parts of the project that were not related to the window, and I had to contact them most of the time to get a status update. After a few months I had to ask them to do the parts of the project that were not related to the window so I could at least enjoy some of it.
Once the project got started, I only saw and talked to the lead contractor once. Between the demolition, framing, drywall, and electrical team there was very little communication between them. The lights were installed in the incorrect spot and if I had not been there the day they were reinstalled, they would have been put in the wrong spot again. The electrician spent hours trying to get the wiring figured out since it was not set up correctly when it was framed and drywalled.
I had to call the office multiple times to get items fixed that were left unfinished or damaged, which extended the project even more. The project was supposed to be completed in 10 days and it took 22 working days to complete. (Chipped window frame, unfinished underside of the new ledge, gaps between the baseboards and wall (since the new wall they installed stuck out further then existing wall), hole in the outside wall where the electrician accidently drilled through while trying to fix the wiring and even though it is between the lines (picture attached) the window is not level (yet they insist it is). The window is 64 inch wide, so it is more noticeable. The other two existing windows in the room are perfectly level. Once I called to have items fixed they did so within a day or 2.
My back door was left open twice and the front door once. Most of the days lights were left on in the house. They did a decent job cleaning up right around the construction inside the house but the deck and patio under the deck not so much. I had to ask them to clean up the patio since that is where my dog goes in and out and I would regularly find nails and debris there.
I was really hoping that a family-owned business would be more customer oriented but am truly disappointed with the quality of work, poor communication, and attention to detail. And they had the balls to send me the invoice before the project was even completed (which I didn’t pay until I was “satisfied” that the project was done), and it has been over a week and no one from the management team and reached out to make sure I was satisfied with what they did for me. For all these reasons I cannot recommend DeLoa & Sons Construction Inc.
(some of the things shown in the pictures were fixed but this gives you an idea what they would of left and what their standard of work is)

Don't rely on them for an estimate on a large project. I had them do a new door and they did great. I had them over to the house to get a rough estimate for doing an addition. They gave me a ball park estimate of 45 to 60K for a deck and the addition. After a few more discussions, we agreed to proceed and pay the $2,100 to get drawings done. When I found out he quoted my neighbor $90k for a covered deck, he told me not to worry. I finally got the quote, and it was $131k and that was without siding or roofing!! (Another contractor was going to do that due to storm claim.) Needless to say it didn't make sense to stick that much into a project that wouldn't add anywhere near that to our home value so I'm stuck with $2,100 in drawings that I'll never use.

Everyone was so helpful, quick and kind! The rails you installed for my in laws provide them safety and peace of mind for me! Thank you Frank!
