I worked with Chrissy for my wedding. She followed my vision exactly and did an amazing job! The bouquets and centerpieces were beyond beautiful!!

Came here in September 2019 on our way back from North Carolina. was very impressed with the variety of tropical/sensitive plants. many different palm species and Yucca, bannana etc . I myself bought a Phoenix Roebelenii Date palm that was on sale for summer clearance . . prices were good especially considering most of the Tropical plants are trucked up from Florida farms and are not grown anywhere near here . the summer clearance sale was amazing and the cashier was very nice and helped me load the Palm in my car . Palm is doing very well . picture from october

I've been coming here for years for all of my flower and Christmas needs. Even after I moved to Secaucus I still come to Metropolitan. I haven't been able to find a place that offers the same quality. Worth the drive every time.

Beautiful selection of plants and accessories. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Usually have good sales! There are multiple locations.

Fun plant store in city area. Big store and they got tons of plants. Bit expensive price for decorated ones but fair price I guess.
    Cool place to visit.

I recently visited Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange in Fort Lee, NJ. The place gives off a good vibe from the outside, but the experience inside was disappointing. There was no staff available to assist or answer questions, and the person at the register didn’t seem to know where anything was located. Many plants lacked basic information, making it hard to make informed choices.

The employee handling repotting seemed irritated and unapproachable, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Given the store’s location in a more upscale area, the prices for plants and pots felt unnecessarily inflated. Overall, not the kind of experience I expected — both in terms of service and value.

This place is just lovely. Once you walk in it's like you stepped into a jungle! Tons of plant varieties and anything you need for plants and plant care, they even have some pond fish. Always a great selection and sometimes that rare hard to find plant that you've been looking for.

This place is a plant lover's paradise! Everything you could possibly need from soil, pots, plant supports, fertilizer, decorative stones, and of course, so many beautiful plants!!!

Manager had attitude when I was very upset with the arrangement because it Was not what was pictured on the website due to the fact that they were out of Certain flower that was in the arrangement. False advertisement. (Thought my fiance made the arrangement himself)

Purchased a few plants on 8/25/25 which appeared fine above the soil but when I got home later that evening to report it and changing the soil I noticed my Cactus was black on the bottom and was rotting. I immediately called the store at 2125 Fletcher Avenue and spoke with someone. They told me the only way I could receive a credit or a new plant is if I returned the plant. I expressed that I do not live in New Jersey and I'm in another state. I asked if I can show a photo of the plant with the receipt and date of purchase and they said they needed the planter back and that is the only way I can receive any credit or refund. The representative said she needed to show the vendor the cactus and a photo and receipt is not adequate. I am beyond disappointed and dissatisfied with the service. I will NEVER return to this location. I just have to call this a loss. SO DISAPPOINTED!

They sold a plant which is infested with bugs and I brought it back to either get a store credit or exchange or refund. They were very rude and said there is no exchange allowed even though there is no policy written anywhere about return policy. Do not buy plants from here! Check every leaf before u buy Bc they sell sick plants!!
The lady who was denying me of store credit said just give up on this tree and throw it out. How about $59.99 that I spent on the tree? And (her name is Susan ) she said “ well that’s life “
I was like what???? That’s life??? They gave me infected tree and still deny of exchange and yell at me saying “that’s life” I was so supremely upset that any employee would tell a customer “oh well that’s too bad””that’s life” she is very unprofessional and not helpful at all. Apparently she is not even a manager and she was posing to be a manager Bc manager was not on duty.
I have been a customer for the last twenty years and spent so much money and couldn’t believe they were fussing about one plant. Metropolitan plant exchange??? They certainly don’t do any exchange!!

Today we went to the store as plant newbies and Nirva was absolutely amazing. He planted our Bird of Paradise and other small herbs with such good care and precision into pots that we chose. He also gave very helpful advice on taking care of the plant. We couldn’t be happier with his help and guidance, so thank you Nirva!!! We are so excited to bring these guys home and it was such a pleasant experience at the store today.

We purchased $50 palm tree and only after 1week, bunch of leaves turned to yellow…it was sick. And few days later we’ve noticed it has bugs on it.. We should’ve got it at IKEA much cheaper.

I’ve been coming to Metropolitan Plant & Flower Exchange for years and it’s always a great experience. The selection is huge and everything is really well taken care of. Whether I’m looking for houseplants, flowers, or something for the garden, they always have what I need. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, and the store is clean and organized. I’ve also ordered flower arrangements for events and they’ve turned out beautiful every time. It’s definitely my go-to spot for anything plant-related. Highly recommend.

They have a new amazing room for Rare Plants. You must check it out. Unfortunately they are very expensive, but worth the visit. (What I recommend to the place is, don't ask the costumers if they are going to buy something - that happened to me).

"I am a regular, year-round customer at Metropolitan Plant and Flower Exchange. Recently, I purchased an indoor plant that died within a few days on two separate occasions. When I returned to the store this morning to discuss this with a staff member, he was dismissive, stating it was my problem rather than the store's. He further told me that I should not return to the shop.
This individual is neither the manager nor the owner, and his condescending tone was incredibly unprofessional for such a reputable establishment. While I do not intend to return, I wanted to bring this poor customer service to your attention."

I would get married to my husband again just to see how Elyse would decorate our wedding all over again. We found Elyse and Metropolitan Plant Exchange by accident and it was one of the best things to happen to our wedding. My husband and I didn’t have a clear idea for what we wanted for florals, I only knew that I wanted a succulent bouquet. Giving Elyse very little to work with at our meeting she was able to ask the right questions to help get us to what we actually envisioned our florals looking like for the wedding without any hard sell at all. It felt like I was talking to a friend who just really cared about my wedding flowers! Because we met in the summer and got married in the fall, several if not most of the florals we had were not in season so Elyse improvised and used photos and similar plants to help us envision what we wanted for the wedding and what she was thinking based on our answers. That being said we left our meeting having no idea what our florals were going to officially look like, but with full confidence that Elyse would deliver. And that she did! Elyse had never been to our venue, Johnson Locust Hall Farm, before, but through photos and our descriptions she perfectly created EXACTLY what we wanted without knowing we wanted it. My bouquet was gorgeous and better than any inspiration pic I had sent or what I had imagined. All the little details were absolutely stunning and Elyse worked hard to stay in our budget. Everything was delivered and set up on time. Additionally, we met with Elyse in Fort Lee, but the store in Paramus was a much closer drive to me and she worked with the manager there to help me make payments where it was convenient for me. I could not recommend Elyse and Metropolitan Plant Exchange more!

Came here to buy outdoor flowers and plants for my business in Manhattan. Large selection and pretty much anything you can think of they have. Still pretty early in the spring so they weren’t fully stocked but I understand they’re likely getting ready still for the big season. Employees were helpful enough. No one really went out of their way to offer help but everyone I encountered was nice and answered my questions when asked. Not sure why Yelp has such a bad rating for this place. Yelp sucks anyway. One star I felt because some things are so marked up. A little hand shovel was $12, a plastic spray bottle was $10. Things like that are $1 at WalMart or HomeDepot just a few minutes up the road. I’d rather by locally even if it was somewhat more expensive but some of their prices need to come back to earth.

We used Metropolitan Plant Exchange for our wedding florist and cannot rave about Paul and team enough! Our extended family has been long time customers of Paul's so we looked no further for our wedding florals. Paul delivered on our vision without a doubt and exceeded any expectations we had! We were so in love with our beautiful floral arrangements and our guests and venue staff couldn't stop raving about them either. Needless to say we and our extended family will continue to be loyal customers of Paul and the Metropolitan Plant Exchange for years to come!
