Home Services reviews in Scotch Plains, New Jersey

Amazing service, great price and professional, timely service. The Caffrey team was a pleasure to work with. They gave me their best price upfront, offered options, and beat the local discount tree service on every front. The work was scheduled immediately and they showed up on time. Clean-up was wonderful as well. They even called after the work to make sure the service went well. Highly recommend. We had 4 trees removed and property trimming. Now we have them coming back to replant!

Truly amazing experience. Professional. Friendly. Responsive. Helped me out of a jam quickly. I highly recommend and will absolutely use again.

Had a really great experience with Caffrey. Needed help removing a tree that grew sideways and was in danger of taking out our fence. Bobby came out and talked us through everything. We also opted to have them help remove the dead parts of our large oak and trim back everything that was touching the house. The price was fair and they came in a couple of weeks. The four guys who arrived to do the work were very respectful of the property and got it all done in about 7 hours. They cleaned up all the debris and really made everything look great. Our fence is saved! And in the heat wave we’re in it was even more impressive. Highly recommended. Would use them again whenever needed.

Fast, professional, and safe. Did an excellent job of cutting down a nuisance/hazard oak in my front yard. No debris left over, and not once was there concern about a tree or branch falling on my house. Caffrey Tree and Landscapes prices are beyond competitive, and they work with the homeowner to get the job done safely and quickly.

Caffrey Tree is the Best! A large branch was hanging off one of our trees after a recent snowstorm. It was dangling over the sidewalk, and I was concerned it would fall onto someone or something walking past. I called Caffrey Tree, and Denilson soon after drove by and assessed the situation. He sent one of his workmen over to remove the branch; this workman cleared not just the large branch but the pieces that fell from it onto the yard! He was so thorough and quick!
Thank you, Caffrey Tree, for your prompt, thorough, and professional service! -
After we bought our home last year we realized upon closer inspection that one of our trees at the trunk was severely eroded and the tree itself was leaning towards our neighbors garage and pool. Bob came out and inspected it and walked us through options. The tree removal was scheduled less than 2 weeks later. No direct access to our yard with a fence so with permission from our neighbor the 5 man crew came in and less than 2 hours you wouldn’t even know a tree was there. Up and over the fence the crew scaled the tree making perfect cuts and the large crane took it away. Very impressive and experienced work. Cleaned all the debris. Tight space but his crew handles it professionally. Bob took great care of us with a reasonable price. Hopefully we won’t have anymore leaning trees but if we do we will call Caffrey Tree & Landscape without hesitation.

Came weekly, did a very good job, did an end of season clean-up and bush trimming, satisfied. Simple monthly payment process.

Scape-abilities does my spring and fall cleanups. Their crews are always tedious and ensure great work is done. No corners cut and always satisfied with their work.

We have used Scapabilities for 20 years! They are reliable and quick to respond to any questions/issues I may have. They are one stop shopping. They landscaped our entire yard, installed irrigation system and have maintained it all this time. Well worth the price and confidence.

Stephen and his crew went above and beyond to address some concerns I had with my property. They exceeded my expectations with their customer service. It’s a rarity to find such great service!

Very noisy Leaf blowers. Two people spend a lot of time revving leaf blower's and really creates a lot of noise. It's in the summer there's no leaves and they arent blowing anything. No regard for this peaceful neighborhood here in Westfield. Plan to terminate their service in a couple weeks if they don't knock it off.

This company was recommended by my neighbors. They came out and gave me an overpriced estimate. My yard is on the smaller side and they gave me an estimate for a much bigger yard like my neighbors. There were a couple of services defined on the estimate that did not have detailed description for a price range of $300-$350. When I called them asking for more details and trying to find out if they would offer bi-weekly cutting service for the same price of the weekly service the receptionist told me impatiently that she could not answer my questions and suggested to talk to the person who wrote the estimate. I sent an email and left a voicemail to him not specifying my questions just that I wanted to talk about the estimate he wrote. This is the email I received next morning without having the opportunity to actually discuss anything with him:
Sorry not avail by phone. I am out of the office today
The prices are firm and we do not offer "every other week" cutting.
It sounds like we are not a match to work together.
I wish you the best
Dave
I would not recommend or hire anyone so arrogant like this company. -
Up until about a month ago, this would have been a four- or five-star review. However, after a horrible experience, we have been searching for a new landscaper (we found one who will be starting in September). I will never use them again, and I strongly recommend anyone who uses them have video surveillance installed to document any issues that you might have.
We used Scape-Abilities for at least several years. We had them do weekly maintenance, spring and fall cleanups, "beautiful beds," reseeding, mulching, crabgrass treatments, and probably a few things I'm forgetting over the years. Everything was, for the most part, a la carte. They weren't outrageously priced, but they certainly weren't cheap either. They were, if nothing else, dependable.
About a month ago, they came to do the "beautiful beds" service. When they left, my wife noticed a noise that she hadn't heard before. When I got home from work, I thought it sounded like running water. After searching the entire house for a leak, it turned out that a spigot that we never used on the outside of the house (it was hidden behind a relatively thick bush) had been broken, and there was a small lake forming on our property. I had a plumber come out (it was a Friday evening) on an emergency call, so there was a premium fee to cap the pipe at the source inside the house. I left a message for Scape-Abilities on Saturday, and I received a call back from them on Monday.
I explained that the damage to the spigot was clearly a result of their crew. There was no leak before they came, and there was a broken spigot that was spewing water for hours after they left. I asked them to stand good for the emergency visit--not even to pay for the repair to the spigot--just to cover the cost of getting the pipe capped. The owner steadfastly refused. He said that there was no proof that it was caused by his crew. He came up with all sorts of ridiculous hypotheticals of what could have caused it--malicious kids on bikes, animals, etc.--and because I don't have surveillance video, I couldn't say anything besides what I said here--no leak before they came, big leak after they came--the thing speaks for itself.
The plumbing bill was about $350. Our weekly cutting was $37. The additional services were billed hourly--so the "beautiful beds" service was $68/hour for 2.16 hours on July 2 (the date of the leak). The "organic plus" lawn treatment the previous month was an additional $85. Our July bill came to over the $350 we had been seeking. Basically, in order to make a customer happy, the owner could have eaten the month's payment. Instead, he chose to make ridiculous assertions and lose a customer.
Edit: Whomever wrote the reply from the business either did not read my entire review or ignored the part that I had spoken with the owner already. I suppose I could add that I spoke several times with an employee who was sympathetic and understanding before speaking with the owner who told me in unambiguous terms that the company would not cover the plumbing bill in any way shape or form. (In fairness, I should mention that he offered me a $50 credit “just to make [you] happy,” which was completely unacceptable to me. I cannot see what further discussion would accomplish. -
We tried four or five lawn services before Scape-Abilities but weren't satisfied. We do a lot of gardening and this company offers a good range of services and flexibility. They normally do a good job but if there's a problem they'll timely correct it.

Excellent services all around and regular lawn mowing/maintenance has been reliably good, prompt and keeping the lawn looking very nice. The regular organic lawn treatment produces a deep and green appearance which has been first rate over the years. Steve is very responsive and pleasant to work with and understands all the yard related work beyond lawn maintenance.
Very happy overall! -
Working with Scape-Abilities was a delight. Stephen was extremely responsive and helpful every step of the way. The work his teams completed was top notch (high quality and beautiful). We had a lot of questions and shifts along the way and they were always very accommodating and helpful. We would absolutely recommend them.

Every time I reach out to Steve the owner or Erin I get a response right way. I've had many, many projects done over the 15 years i've used Scapesbilities. The guys who work on my property are professional, hard working and do a great job. I've had several projects done this year and my property has never looked so good. I've recommended them to friends and neighbors over the years. I plan on using them for many more years to come.

We recently switched to Scape-Abilities for our lawn service after much disappointment with the previous company we were using, and could not be happier! We elected to take the electric mowing option which is fantastic. In the past our other landscapers used these ridiculously huge machines (we have a small yard) which put ridges and bumps into the grass from the weight of the machines. Going electric has repaired our lawn, is whisper quiet and eliminates the odors from gas machines. Scape-Abilities has done a beautiful job to keep our lawn looking great. What a tremendous improvement! We made plans to get some landscaping done to dress things up and cannot wait to see the finished product. We highly recommend Scape-Abilities.
