Oak & Grove is fantastic. John worked with me to create a backyard oasis for my family. Throughout the entire process, he was professional, friendly, and responsive. He had a lot of great ideas and executed them well. I also very much appreciated the fact that he provided estimates on timing of completion of the work, and stuck to those estimates. John and his team did such an amazing job of bringing to life a dream outdoor space! Now an extension of the house and it's entertaining heaven!

John and his crew were simply AMAZING! From the moment we signed on with John, he was available every minute we needed him and walked us through the whole process. He helped us design a completely new backyard to suit our vision and budget and made things truly seamless for us.n. Every one of his workers was kind, courteous and cleaned up after a long day of work. As the work was being done, we saw things we wanted to change at the last minute and texted John. He literally had his crew stop what they were doing to pivot, in order to accommodate our last-minute switches and without making us feel badly. He truly wanted us to have the backyard of our dreams, which we now do, thanks to John and his crew. We could not recommend him more!!

If we had a big enough backyard, I would ask John Baranello to install five patios. We hired John in late June 2021 to build a patio, and we told him that we had a must finish date of August 7th because of a 50th birthday party we were throwing. John assured us that the job would be done, and he was true to his word. Our party on August 7th, on our brand new patio, was a smash success. It wasn’t an easy job. John and his team demolished a deck and dug up an old paver patio; installed two gas lines (one for a gas fire pit and one for a gas grill); installed bluestone, a fire pit, an entire kitchen unit with stone supports, granite countertops, a grill, an additional power burner, and a refrigerator; installed lighting on a timer system; and designed and implemented an entire landscaping plan including a sprinkler system. He advised us about suitable trees, plants, and grasses for our space, and his team secured and planted everything. His involvement with us continued long after our backyard was complete; when a sprinkler head wasn’t working, we texted John and he came within a day or two to fix it. When we had trouble with the timer on the lights, we texted John and he fixed it. Due to supply chain issues, a piece of siding for our house that had to be replaced due to our renovation design was delayed, and John stayed on top of it. We reached out to John several times during the year following August 2021 and he was always incredibly responsive. He is an anomaly when it comes to contractors; he shows up every day, he finishes within an established timeframe, and he makes himself available whenever you need him. Furthermore, his wife is an expert in outdoor furniture, so once he builds you the perfect living space, she can fill it with beautiful pieces. Working with John was an absolute pleasure. He is a nice person and an utter professional who listens to his clients’ vision and works with them to bring it to fruition. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

Oak and groove did an incredible job transforming our backyard into beautiful outdoor space. From start to finish John was amazing to work with. He was super accommodating with our budget, and always addressed any concerns we had along the way. We have worked with many contractors, and his level of attention and communication was the best we have ever received. We had a more challenging space to work with and had intended to build a deck. When permits wouldn’t allow for the deck we decided to build a patio. John came highly recommended from our neighbors and we are so glad we went this route.
John built us an incredible outdoor kitchen, fire pit with a built in bench, and large dining area. He was able to make our space super functional and beautiful. We love our new yard and feel it added so much value and space to our home. We highly recommend oak and groove if you are looking to build a patio.

We initially contacted Oak and Grove to discuss options for redesigning our back yard back in 2021, and immediately after Johns initial visit we knew we had the right company for the job. While my wife and I went back and forth on having our original deck replaced or having a patio made, John was instrumental in providing the insight into planning and materials that we needed to make such an important decision. By the summer of 2022, we were ready to go. Oak and Grove has the best group of teams who are absolute pros at what each of them focus on. This started with the removal of our old deck which was completely cleared out within an afternoon. Not a single mail or piece of wood anywhere. They removed all of the wood that day. That day I came out to the back to see the grading already being worked on. Within a few days not only were pavers laid out absolutely perfectly, they created various drain points to keep water from flooding out the area. Phase 1 of the project was completed within 6 days. In 2023 we had John over to plan out the remaining elements for the back yard, and his recommendations on everything from river rocks to placement of lighting throughout our dark back yard. Additionally we needed an additional sprinkler line to the back area of our yard so by Aug 2023 the team was back and this time their sprinkler specialist noticed some serious drainage issues that we were not aware of which could have flooded out our basement! The team had lights, river rock beds, additional privacy trees and even a 2 ton boulder placed where an old tree ground down in 2022! Our home looks amazing and we feel blessed to have such an amazing, hardworking and professional team as quality service is scarce in 2023. Thank you John and Team! We have some additional lighting and other items that Oak & Grove will be back to handle in 2024. If you are looking for the best landscaping contractor in New Jersey, trust us, you just found them, no lie.

John and his team were fantastic! Every aspect of working with John was a pleasure. He is smart, honest, reliable, experienced and will give you the best advice. There was always communication and the team always showed up on time. We love how our backyard came out and we can’t wait to enjoy it for many years to come! John is wonderful and talented. He did such a great job with our landscaping vision and execution. We had him expand a small deck side garden into a nice big and full one and helped beautify along our fence on both sides. We told him we wanted full and park like. Boy did he deliver. Upon the plantings it looked amazing but with landscaping it looked better with time. We did our work in the early fall. But once everything bloomed in the spring and summer we saw John’s expertise again with the beautiful and diverse colors that the blossoming brought. He was careful to get the most out of our budget and was hands on the whole time. Great experience and great results.

John and his team at Oak & Grove are absolutely wonderful to work with. When we embarked on this project last summer, John immediately understood our vision and created a design that captured it beautifully. He made adjustments to the design here and there to include all of the elements that we requested, and even ones we didn’t realize we were looking for! He was always in contact either on site or by phone. If something did not come out to our specifications, he made sure it was corrected. His crew also exhibited tremendous work ethic, craftsmanship, and professionalism, from the landscape crew to the hardscape, carpentry, gas & sound crews. We are grateful to all of them for their hard work. We went from a flat grassy and weedy expanse that we never wanted to use, to a beautiful outdoor space with kitchen, fire pit, gazebo, and gorgeous landscaping that we use every day. Our project was completed on time early fall of 2022, and John touched base with us this spring to check on the status, and he returned to fix some minor issues. He was such a pleasure to work with, and I have no hesitations about recommending Oak & Grove.

Oak & Grove did a fantastic job upgrading our patio!! (see before and after pics). John was great to work with and really helped us pick the best design to stay within our budget. Once the old patio was demoed we realized the underground drainage in the back of the house needed replacing…John was very reasonable on pricing and it all worked out perfectly. Juan and the crew were tremendous!! Very professional, friendly, great attention to detail and extremely hard working. All around a great experience and highly recommend Oak & Grove.

John and his team at Oak & Grove were a pleasure to work with. They are a full service landscape design and architecture firm that is responsive, prompt and goes above and beyond. We redesigned our front yard with mature trees and shrubs, did a major backyard leveling process and added extra touches of seating and lighting, extended and matched an existing patio and added a putting green and chipping area. John and his team did not stop until everything was perfect and replaced and redesigned areas until everyone was satisfied.

The worst landscaping company you can hire. He worked at one of my neighbor's yard and I caught him blowing leaves over to the other neighbor's yards. He also picked up branches / leaves and intentionally threw them over the fence to the other neighbor's yard. Maybe he's hoping to get business from the other neighbor.
