Reviews of local pros in Bernalillo, New Mexico

The crew transformed my dirt backyard to a beautiful experience. After only three days. They were very careful to ensure everything was done appropriately.

We presented Bill Whelchel with a fairly complex landscape design for our backyard and he came back with a comprehensive and competitive bid. We gave his company the nod and we were not disappointed. His crew was experienced, respectful and highly competent. They turned a large rectangle of dirt into an oasis of relaxation and enjoyment for us.

They executed everything from an irrigation system to a detailed walkway of pavers and a sitting wall with a high degree of precision. We are thrilled with the final product and can't wait for all the plants to grow and bloom this spring. We were so pleased that we then had them do a quick job of reorganizing the haphazard plantings and hardscape that were in our front yard. Many thanks to Bill and Ray and the crew for a job extremely well done.

We had a pool installed and our yard looked ROUGH afterwards. My husband and I had a pretty good idea of what we wanted done, and Dimitri and the crew came with good ideas and hard work and made it happen! We absolutely love our backyard now. It's stunning.

I needed landscaping done for my newly built house. I already had what I wanted drawn up and Kelly Ann added some detail and suggested some changes to make it better. She was great to work with. Isaiah and his crew came and did a great job and it turned out as I was hoping for. I especially appreciate that they had fixed a paver that was cracked near the end of the job without even having to point it out to them. They also came and tried some different sprinkler heads to find ones that worked best for my lawn after the job was done and they were already paid. I would definitely use them again!

I highly recommend Whelchel Landscaping & Construction. I could not be happier with the outcome of my backyard landscaping project. From Dmitri's design plan to the expertise and professionalism of the crew members, it was a wonderful experience. I wouldn't hesitate working with Whelchel Landscaping again in the future. I have high expectations and they delivered!

Ray is a good listener. He took all of my ideas regarding the design and applied his expertise to come up with a front yard layout that pleases the neighborhood and feeds the birds and bees. Isaiah and the crew are courteous and skilled workers. I highly recommend this business!

We’ve been very happy with the whole process from start to finish. Ray, Isaiah & the whole crew completed the job just like we wanted. We made some changes along the way & Ray was so helpful & accommodating for us. We highly recommend this company.

Bill was a pleasure to work with, he had lots of helpful suggestions and broke out the estimate so we could prioritize the work we had done. Cory and the crew did a great job preparing and graveling our garden areas and driveway. We are very happy with how everything turned out.

From the moment Dimitri walked in the door, I knew we had the most trustworthy person to create our yard. I interviewed about seven other contractors but my gut told me the best customer service would come from Whelchel and I was completely right. The crew was great to work with prompt, courteous and dedicated. The yard was a desert and in two days it's now it's an oasis. We have spent every day out there since it's been completed. 100++++ STARS!

Whelchel's team worked tirelessly to reinvent our two backyard spaces that had been well "lived in" by our young dogs over the last few years. Cory and the crew did amazing work on our yards; they came up with great ideas, were meticulous, quiet, respectful, went ABOVE and BEYOND, and cleaned up the site well each day. After many long hours and days, they left us with two beautiful, well graded, easy to maintain, water saving areas; one for the pups and one for the people to enjoy! They raised, leveled, and graded a dog run, installed synthetic turf, gravel, a chain link fence, and a unique concrete ramp. They installed low maintenance plants, gravel, a smaller area of synthetic turf, beautiful large flagstones, installed a drip system as well as installing two very tall 4" posts to perfection in the main backyard area. Bill was gracious enough to allow us to add a couple of last minute items to the long list shortly before the work began. One of which was a beautiful brick edging that was done with so much precision that it really neatened up the space. We are just thrilled with the end result and would highly recommend them!

Whelchel Landscape turned our small dirt backyard into a larger, much more comfortable and relaxing family space! We are so grateful for both our designer, Kelly Ann, to our landscaper David and his crew! They were so efficient and completed our job in a timely manner. We truly appreciate their professionalism and hard work!

We worked with Kelly Ann, Cory, and their crew and they did a fantastic job on our front yard. Their communication was great and we got to really custom design it to what we wanted it to look like. They helped us choose low maintenance plants too, after we told them we don't really have green thumbs. They were friendly, super fast, and reasonably priced.

Whelchel Landscaping recently landscaped our backyard with new gravel and paver pathways. They also provided drainage provisions that is needed during monsoon season. Dave and his crew did an excellent job on the removal of old gravel and soil and the installation of the new landscaping. The crew showed up every morning on time and on a couple of days stayed past quitting time to get to a good stopping point. The crew worked well with each other and enjoyed a positive camaraderie. Bill Whelchel visited several times during the duration of the project. The work was performed to my desired expectations at every phase of the project. A couple of post-job items were handled in expedient fashion. We would recommend Whelchel Landscaping & Construction to anyone who is planning any type of landscaping.

I have no regrets hiring Whelchel Landscaping to redo our front and back yard! Dmitri was professional, responsive, accountable, and he and his crew did a phenomenal job! Dmitri gave me options on colors for the front and backyard rocks along with recommendations, and was able to get started quickly after meeting him for an estimate. They removed weeds, layered new weed barrier, added new rocks, trimmed bushes, and did general yard cleanup. They were done within 2 days left everything immaculate. I am very happy with the result, and I really recommend Whelchel Landscaping for your landscaping needs!

My wife and I had much of the old existing landscape removed last year in our lower back yard (the yard has a lower level on the south side and an upper level on the West and North sides). We contracted with Whelchel Landscaping to finish the lower backyard demolition so that a new paver patio could be installed. We also had an old retaining wall removed and rebuilt along with steps leading to the upper back yard. The paver patio is large and runs as a walkway from the front drive through to the back yard, proceeding under a covered patio followed further on by another enclosed patio (3 walls), and finally as a walkway to the new steps leading up to the upper back yard. We remodeled the upper North yard, which was originally dirt, into two short, terraced retaining walls in addition to a flagstone walkway that led to the front yard. Finally, the entire front yard was re-rocked with some new plants as well-as the entire lower back yard, which included boulders, trees, plants and a large section of grass with a paver perimeter and irrigation.

This was a very large construction project. They (Samantha, Ray, Dave, and Isaiah) worked with us from the beginning developing a design for the construction and a phased schedule for accomplishing all the work. The schedule included working around a vacation we had booked earlier, which interrupted the work part way through.

The result is absolutely gorgeous! The crews (2 for part of the job) arrived promptly every single morning on the job. They were all hard workers performing the various required tasks with only lunch breaks. All facets of the work were professionally accomplished with experienced attention to detail. Sam (Samantha) was wonderful to work with and very patient with the multitude of changes I requested as the project progressed. Each change was coordinated professionally and efficiently incorporated into the design plan. With such a large project performed at an older residence with all its accompanying complexity (buried footings just name one), a few problems did arise, but these were professionally caught, redesigned, and installed as a matter of course.

I couldn’t be happier with the result. Someday we plan on re-landscaping the upper West back yard and I know that Whelchel will get that job! I highly recommend this company.

I highly recommend Ray, Dave and his crew. We are completely satisfied with our finished product and our patio upgrade is exactly what we wanted. Communication with Ray was seamless and changes made in our design were addressed and implemented with no problems. Ray and his team came up with patio ideas to best fit our yard. Project was completed on time and would definitely use Whelchel Landscape & Construction again.

Whelchel Landscaping was great to work with from the first interaction with Bill as we went over the design and plant options, to the interactions with the crew as we did final stone placement. They were fair and professional throughout the entire process and the quality of the work was excellent. They kept the site clean every day, and adapted well to minor changes requested during the installation. I would recommend this company for any work you need them to do!

Amazing work! Always satisfied with the work Ronald and his team accomplish. Love to refer to friends and family to him and 100% guaranteed happy referrals !

I have used Ronald and his crew for many years on different projects. They have always been so professional and courteous. They complete projects on time, and do a great job!

Working in the home building industry, I've seen a lot of landscapes come to life after homeowners move in. But when it came to doing my own yard, Ronald’s Landscaping truly knocked it out of the park - it was a hands-down 10/10 experience!

We decided to go all in - turf, rocks, pavers, and plants. And wow, did Ronald and his team deliver. The turf is so lush and green, I can’t believe it’s not real grass. The rock and paver work they did created these beautiful, winding paths that just invite you to take a walk and enjoy the outdoors. And the plants they chose? They’re the perfect mix of color and texture, making our garden look alive and vibrant all year round.

What really struck me about working with Ronald’s team was their blend of professionalism and personal touch. They treated my project like it was their own yard they were beautifying. They were always on time, super tidy, and kept me in the loop with everything happening in the yard.

Being in this industry, I thought I knew what to expect, but they exceeded all my expectations. Their work is not just landscaping; it’s like they’re painting with plants and sculpting with stones. It’s clear they love what they do, and it shows in every detail of their work.

For anyone on the fence about choosing a landscaper, let me just say - go with Ronald’s Landscaping. They’ve turned my yard into a place I’m proud to show off and enjoy every day. It’s not just the quality of their work but the passion and dedication they bring to the table that sets them apart. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

Ronald and his team did INCREDIBLE work. We had turf and a wall done by them and couldn’t be happier! Great response time and quality work for a fair price. (The picture is to show the turf and wall, ignore the toys!)
