Unusual and unique plants, shrubs and trees. Very knowledgeable staff, note wear garden shoes as it can be muddy around some spots. Oh, and yes, it is in the middle no where - which is a good thing as every time I go something comes home with me!

You could spend the day here looking at all of the beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Having just purchased a house with a japanese garden- I'm lucky to live right down the road. Looking forward to many more visits!

Absolutely the best specialty nursery in upstate New York! OGS has an unbeatable selection of trees, shrubs and perennials, with many extremely hard-to-find species, cultivars and hybrids, and all at very reasonable prices! On the mail-order side, Judith is a customer service all-star, always going above and beyond with our orders. And on-site, Dave is a fantastic "plant guy", always willing to help track down particularly nice specimens, share his vast horticultural knowledge and help with loading into cars to boot!

This place has a huge selection and they have everything from the more common plants to the unusual and unique. I make the hour+ trip there from Buffalo a few times a year for the variety and the help. Everyone there is always very helpful and knowledgeable. I can't recommend this place enough.

Excellent selection of plants, staff very friendly, albeit busy (was the weekend). Place is muddy in spots, waterproof shoes are the ideal footwear here.

I have been making the trip out to OGS for years. Simply the best!!! Nothing else really compares. I have friends from all over the State that drive hours to Rochester just to visit the store. Their selection is outstanding! The service outstanding! Visiting is one of my favorite things to do...

I was looking online for a place that sells a certain plant for a present for my mom and found this place. I ordered the two plants online and despite a small hiccup (I think my order accidentally got missed but that was solved by a quick email) The plants arrived with no damage to them and they look nice and healthy. If I had realized this was a Rochester based store, I would have just taken a trip over there because this place seems really nice.

This is one of those places you read about in "10 gems hidden in plain sight" lists. This nursery is right up there with the top of the Rochester area's better known places like Bristol's, Garden Factory or Wayside. Unlike the rest, however, their variety is unmatched. From the more traditional and popular to the unique to the rare and obscure and collectible varieties of trees, shrubs, and perennials, this is a gardener's paradise. This is not only for the lovers of Japanese maples (and their variety of those cannot be beat for sure). Prices are surprisingly normal and on par with other local places, and with a range of trees from young to mature, one can definitely find something to fit their budget. Dave is a horticulture geek and proud of it; he as well as other staff members are super knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to come back and am mad to have only learned about this place from a neighbor recently. I will spread the word!

Just walked through this incredible garden supply for the first time. It is phenomenal 👏. So many options for ornamental trees as well as some new options for me to plant in my shade garden. Heading home to do some soil prep and I'll be back for some new and exciting friends 😊 🌿🪴🌿🌿🌿🌿.

This place has a great selection of unique plants, particularly for Oriental themed gardens. Their staff is very knowledgeable about plants and their prices are consistent with Wayside and Bristol Gardens. I have to stop myself from emptying my bank account when I'm here. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because of an incident that happened here that wasn't resolved well. I fell in love with a plant and had it tagged to be picked up later. They woman working there said she would put it into their holding area. I came back a few days later and they couldn't find the plant. I was very disappointed. The owner offered to contact the nursery that shipped these plants to see if they had another one they could send. That was several days ago and I never heard back from them. I would say if you love a plant there don't have it tag to be picked up later.

Had been there in the past,worked with a younger guy and had superior service. He seems to have moved on and now it's not worth the drive. For such high prices they should employ people with a clue who willing to work with you. Don't waste your time.

I was impressed by the extensive selection of plants for Japanese gardens or accent showpiece plants. The selections vary from year to year, but over several years they have offered over 500 varieties of Japanese maples and over 1500 unusual conifers. They have grasses, ferns, bamboos, and specimen trees. It’s a great place to let your gardening imagination run free.

Al and his crew are the BEST. I've used different landscape nurseries in the area but Oriental has the best selection and price every season. Nearly my entire landscape around my home is from Oriental.

Very knowledgeable arborist, great selection of plants, many of which you don't see anywhere else, like Ginkgo trees and CandyCorn Spirea.
We had our purchases delivered for a very reasonable fee. The driver was one of the growers and was able to help me with placement and planting of a tree.
We will definitely return.

First order in what would be considered off season or closed even here in Virginia . Blown away by the quality of what was sent ,the speed which they sent it and how well it arrived with exceptionally safe packing . Things no one else on the web had or would ship ....and fantastic prices too.
Delighted ....saw many rarities currently out of stock ....will be following for more goodies . I will be back !!!
