There should be a 0 star option!!
A boiler maintenance appointment was made for today between 8-12PM of which I took the day off to be here because they would not originally scheduled it on a Saturday. 12PM passed and I called to be informed the technician wouldn't arrive till after 1PM which wouldn't work for me being that I had to make use of the day off and decided thereafter to schedule another appointment giving them 1.5 hours to work should the technician have arrived the latest 12PM.
This is unacceptable especially that I have a service contract and now lost a vacation day!!! Now I have to wait to the 23rd for the service. All this aggravation could've been avoided if they would've set it for a Saturday from the beginning or kept the scheduled appointment today.
Completely unsatisfied customer!!!

I am positively blown away by the level of service provided! Technician Kevin worked many hours yesterday repairing my furnace and then finishing by bleeding all radiators along with the back-up of Doug whom arrived to do that task. Both men were careful to maintain social distancing, wore masks and were very low key and unobtrusive while working. The basement was left clean and neat.Thank-you Petro for your quick response and keeping me informed/updated about arrival times. I felt safe and confident while they were here and am now enjoying the toasty comfort of my home.

UPDATE: after escalating my issue with Petro and them seeing my reviews here, they offered a solution that was more competitive but not as low as other rates. The person who handled my case was very helpful and wanted to resolve the issue. I have decided to continue with them for the year because of the difficulties I would have bundling propane with oil and having to replace Petro’s propane tank if we stopped service. I am hoping I will not be revisiting these problems in the future.
Original review:
I have been a Petro customer since 2017. I switched to Petro because we needed propane delivery and they are one of the few companies on Long Island that will deliver both oil and propane to your home.
From the beginning, I have requested Petro combine my propane costs with my oil and service contract costs to create a monthly budget that would be paid evenly across the year and any overage would be paid at the end of the year. For the most part, they were good about combining these as I requested it every time I started a new budget.
For my year of 2022, Petro set a budget that was supposed to include my propane, oil, and service contract of $458. This was a two year agreement with a capped oil per gallon price of $5.789 (i have since been quoted $3.649 by other companies).
At the end of the year, I received an overage charge of $1,459. This seemed excessive so I called Petro. Usually in the past, Petro would call us to discuss the end of the budget, overages, and what the new budget would be. They did not call this time. I had to call them.
We accepted that the overage cost was based on usage and that we owed the money so we did not argue the bill. I asked what my next budget was going to be given that there was such an overage. They said my budget would continue to be $458.
Two weeks later, I get my first invoice on the new budget and they have raised my monthly budget to $691. Surprised, I called them to ask what happened. They weren't sure why I was told that but this was my new budget. I asked to speak to someone in budgeting.
Through budgeting we determined that they had grossly miscalculated my initial budget under which I signed a two year agreement. Not only had they underpriced the oil, but they did not include the propane in the calculation, despite the fact that is had been a part of my budget for five years and I requested that it be calculated in the budget.
They also raise the cost of the annual service plan without my knowledge. This seems a bit absurd given that they had me in a two year agreement and I could not fight the service plan pricing unless I changed to a lower tier or paid a contract cancel penalty to leave.
So at this point, I find myself bound to a two year contract based on a miscalculated budget from a company that randomly raises its service contract rates to customers who are trapped within a contract. Nothing I agreed to at the time of signing this contract was represented properly and I agreed to a price that they miscalculated.
When I asked to be let go from the contract without penalty, they said they can not waive that and I will have to pay the remaining $400 cancellation fee despite all of these mistakes being theirs.
Did I mention their oil is over $2 higher per month than other companies?
I would NEVER recommend Petro to anyone. They are not operating in good faith and they persistently make mistakes in their budgeting. If they do not waive the cancellation fee, I will be taking this claim up with the Better Business Bureau. Take your business elsewhere.
